Hello everyone, Oracle here. This will be the announcements thread. Any news floating around near the docks will be posted here for all to see. :) This includes but is not limited to: New locations, PC deaths (heaven forbid!), weather, new quests and plots, holidays and any other bits of info I deem worthy to pass down.

I ask you not to post here. If you have an announcement you may either post it in the general OOC thread or if you feel it should be added here and would like to get my attention please send it to me in a PM and I will be happy to assist you in any way I can.

Thank you for your time and have a wonderful day!

Hello everyone, just wanted to bring your attention to the new entrance thread, here. While Zeltiva has no official point of entry I did want a thread that can help me keep track of everyone in the city and for plotting future plots.

For everyone wanting a modded thread, I want to thank you for your patience but I also have a request. Could each of you PM just a short note about if you want me to start the thread or not, if you have an idea already you can start the thread and PM me a link. I have my grading all caught up and will now be able to open the modded threads.

Thank you once again for being patient!

:D

Just a few things I wanted to touch base about:

  • You are able to list an private residences in the link map. You would just need to create a location thread and send to to me via PM. Click here for one example, and here and here. I posted several because they are many different ways to do it. :)
  • You can have a job. Just PM me and we'll work it out.

That's about all I have for now, if you have any questions about any of this let me know.

Greetings and salutations my fair citizens,

There has been a lot of talk lately about jobs and work so I thought it would be a good time to write a little more information on the subject for everyone and pool all the info from the wiki into one place in case anyone was unable to find it.

Each storyteller does it a little differently in each region so at the end I will list how I might differ slightly from the other Storytellers around, but first the cold data taken from the wiki:

Price List

(Note: Characters may only receive a regular income after arranging it with a storyteller.)

Income received from performing a job varies greatly and depends on not only the job itself but also the skill and ability of the worker. City structure can also play an important role as well. In smaller cities of limited wealth and resources, worker income may be less than what it would be in larger cities with greater wealth. A city that prides itself in its mining operations may value miners and masons more than others thus the income of such occupations may also be greater. Below is a list of sample professions and their basic daily income. This assumes that the worker has at least a Novice (L1) level in the primary skill of that profession. As you will see, income may vary greatly but in general, falls within 1 and 10 gold mizas per day. From the list we can also see that jobs requiring more specialized skills offer a greater income but also require more responsibility. Those who fall behind in their job duties may see a reduction in pay or even the loss of their job.

As a person becomes more experienced and acquires a greater level of ability in skills that relate to their job, they may expect a greater income. For job-related skills of Competent (L2), income general increases by half again as much (rounded down). Thus an alchemist making 7 gm a day at a Novice level will make 10 gm a day at Competant Level (L2). At the expert level (L3), income doubles thus the Competent Alchemist making 10 gm a day will make 20 gm a day as an Expert. At the Master level, income for a job doubles yet again so that the Expert Alchemist making 20 gm a day will make 40 gm a day once they become a Master. Note that this is base income. Finalized income is set by the attending Storyteller and may include extras such as a percentage of sold items, etc. Such percentages added to regular base income does not normally surpass 20% per skill level (rounded down). Thus if a character owned an alchemist shop, the storyteller may decide that the character would make an additional amount of money from sales and services. For the L1 Novice Alchemist making 7 gm, they would get an additional 1 gm from sale profits for a total of 8 gm per day. The L2 Competent Alchemist making 10 gm a day would get 12 gm a day after sales profits. The L3 making 20 gm a day would get 24 gm a day total while the Master making 40 would get 48 gm a day total. Remember that these are routine, everyday wages that do not take into account character discoveries, innovations, inventions and adventuring that may bring separate, less routine amounts of money.

So this is a basic run down on how jobs work here on Mizahar. If you have a skill and arrange it with a DS, or in this case an AS, you can complete the required tasks of that DS/AS and at the end of the season you may be paid a wage for your services.

Now again quoting directly from the price list here in a list of current jobs and example wages (keeps in mind what is said above...your skill level and your city plays a big part in how much you will be paid. So this is not the law but a guide line.

Sage - 15 gm Cleric/Priest - 13 gm Acolyte - 10 gm
Gemcutter - 9 gm Armorer - 8 gm Scientist/Gadgeteer - 8 gm
Locksmith - 8 gm Surgeon/Doctor - 8 gm Weaponsmith - 8 gm
Alchemist - 7-14 gm Healer - 7-12 gm Poisoncrafter - 7 gm
Attorney - 7 gm Brewer/Philterer - 7 gm Metalsmith - 7 gm
Veterinarian - 6 gm Engineer/Architect - 6 gm Blacksmith - 6 gm
Beekeeper - 6 gm Herbalist - 6 gm Falconer - 5 gm
Hunter - 5 gm Wilderness Guide - 5 gm Woodcarver - 5 gm
Assassin - 5-7 gm Mercenary (Advanced Missions) - 5-7 gm Sailor - 1-7 gm
Groomer - 5 gm Guard - 5 gm Altar Boy - 4 gm
Farmer - 4 gm Fisherman - 4 gm Fortune-teller - 4 gm
Performer/Bard - 4 gm Innkeeper - 4 gm Shopkeeper - 4 gm
Tattoo Artist - 4 gm Bowyer/Fletcher - 3 gm Teacher/Instructor - 1-15 gm
Thief/Bandit - 1-4 gm Prostitute - 1-4 gm Clerk - 3 gm
Cobbler - 3 gm Mason - 3 gm Mercenary (Basic Missions) - 1-3 gm
Tanner - 3 gm Scribe - 3 gm Cook - 2-3 gm
Barmaid - 1-2 gm Groom - 1 gm Laborer - 7 sm

Some jobs in your area may not even be available, and some possibilities may not be listed. So if you have something you don't see on the list that you think you can make a living doing than please PM me and let me know.

Here in Zeltiva there are a few things you may not be able to do, for instance, being a cook. Zeltiva has no restaurants, with the exception of the small fish grill found at the fish market. So there would be no work for you. A wilderness guide may not be a very in-demand position either seeing how most of the area is urban (well as urban as you get around here...) and most people travel by boat. it is still more of a possibility than cook though...so if you want to do that and it is your main skill you can but it will take some work.

Other jobs are going to pay more based on the city such as: Fisher, Sailor, Laborer, Shopkeeper and an often overlooked job as shopkeeper assistant.

Now my version of the list is pretty quite and sloppy, so if you have any questions about what each job details please either PM me with questions or just head over to the price list. Each one has a nifty little pop up showing what the position means.

Now if you are not completely sure why a job is important then I would like to direct you here: Living Expenses

If you plan on playing here for any length of time you will some day run into this. Each season you will need to pay for your quality of life. Now it sounds worse than it is. If you have a job of any kind it's really easy to keep enough gold to make it here and survive and just as easy to keep a common or even good life style. Not a lot of people really live in Squalor and it is often by choice for their PC's concept.

Again feel free to PM me any questions you have concerning this. :)

Now on to the juicy bit, what do I as a storyteller require for you to get seasonal wages? Well not a whole lot to be honest.

  • That you PM before hand to arrange for the job.
  • Two threads solely dedicated to "work" over the course of the season.
  • At the end of the season re-submit those threads to be after they are complete in a dedicated thread I will have open to apply for season wages and Xp.

That's really about it. Now there are probably a lot of factors still at play and questions as to "what constitutes a job thread".

A job thread is any thread where you perform the desire task for your job. If you are a cobbler you make shoes; if you are a thief you go and steal things; if you are an Assassin you go kill things. Your threads can be solo or group. Solo is the most popular way of knocking out a job thread but group works too. Ex: if you work in a shop another PC can come in and place an order; or hire you to kill someone; or ask you to repair their shoes. Playing in a group will get the job done and make what sounded like an otherwise boring thread a lot more fun.

Now some of you more than likely noticed the bit at the end about seasonal Xp, seasonal Xp is a bit tricky and there aren't any requirements and you aren't guaranteed to get it. For me season Xp is award when someone has showcased working at better their skills throughout the season. No set limit or anything. Just even in non-job threads talking about your abilities or gather supplies for doing your job. If you show me that you do your job all season long, without having to do a million job threads, or you do extra job threads then you can apply for seasonal Xp at the end of the season as well as for your wages.

So...I hoped I summed everything up. If you feel I missed something or want further explanation for something or even want to go ahead and get a job then please PM me and let me know. We can work out the details over a plate of cookies.

Enjoy and cheers,

Oracle.

Greetings and salutations!

Today I am here to bring you this bit of juicy news: Two more NPC's have been added to the wiki for your playing pleasure.

Lilia is the first University NPC I have added so be kind to her. Franck is a creation of one of our own players, Avari , and he will be one of your captains of the underworld so to speak ;). A lonesome smuggler with quite a history.

Have fun!

Oracle.

Good news, I hope!

I will be starting back up my modded threads soon. However there will be a list of pending people, I'll let you know when your turn has come for a modded thread since I am still very swamped IRL.

Thank you for understanding and being patient!

If you currently have a modded thread open with me there will be a response in it tomorrow and we shall go from there. :)
