This forum contains all the NaNo threads from years gone past. Thus far we have only 2011 archived! But hopefully we'll have a ton more forthcoming as the years go by and NaNo's come and go.

I don't really like the idea of people focusing on getting skills. One reason mainly because each ST gives differently and from personal experience some give a lot and some give very little. I would prefer if any and all NaNo goals focus on thread and story elements rather than just pumping up on skills at the end. I mean words and threads might be ok because they cannot be disputed but experience has wayyyyy to much difference according to storytellers.

Maybe something like (using the examples above):

Scholar:
Learn three new skills
Focus in training/developing four skills already known
PC spends time learning/studying (I say learning because some PCs play illiterate if I am not mistaken and there are many ways to learn. :))

Brawler:
Get into a bar brawl
Get into a fight without using any weapons
Throw a table and smash a chair

So to me instead of trying to quantify things what we are trying to do is develop something further. Just my opinion anyway since everyone seems to be focusing on something which is entirely subjective and unstable.

Are you guys getting excited for NaNo? Remember, the registration is open as of Midnight PST here in the US. You must register with your PC in order to be eligible to get your word count verified and win the medal.

Since I'm entering with two PCs, my main goal will be to stay sane. Beyond that, I'd like to get them both established as characters and whatever skills and friends they make along the way would be a huge plus.

I have personal goals though. I'm working on trying to write a little *less* lean. My posts need some meat! And my descriptive writing needs some work. Fortunately, that goes hand-in-hand with a higher word count.

Yeah.. I am crazy and entered all five of my PCs and my mod account. If I dont make it with all of them thats okay, but if I do I wanted it to count so I entered them all. I just have one question though, for the Grade Ten NaNo threads what counts? Does the entire thread have to be from november or if the thread just wraps up in november does it count?

I've been putting off 'officially' entering because I really really want to join coz I love writing but I've never bothered to even look at word count before. This could be a colossal fail for me. I adore my Bolden and I'm going to try and enrich his past to show his close relationship with Vanator when he was a boy. Lots of flashbacks, and with Ken and Fela's help, some dreams and Jameson/Daniel's help a rawkin good thread or two.
If we have to answer PM's with the the entered PC, does that count against us? Are we supposed to avoid making anything but IC posts with the nano pc? *frets*

I'm skeered....

Guys relax. We can't police PMs. Ver.. if it counts towards someone's NaNo it counts towards the grade ten threads. :)

I don't think I can enter this with my own PCs due to obvious time constraints, but I thought I'd at least Photoshop a winner's medal. This is from their web badges page (which should avoid any copyright issues), but heavily modified. What do you think?

Bolden, I dont think it matters all that much. Writing is writing, word are words, whether they are IC or not. If you type of 50000 words worth of scrapbook rants I would be just as impressed as if it was all IC. IC is better.. but writing is writing. So long as you dont just copy paste a bunch of wikipedia articles or something and cheat, you'll probably be safe. Thats the impression I've gotten, anyway.

Okay, just read Tarots thing, it has to be all IC. Which is cool. But in that case, I doubt I'll be getting 50k words with V, since most of my stuff is OOC. Good, that means I can focus on the characters only! ^^
