[OOC Thread] Welcome to the NaNoWriMo Forum!

(This is a thread from Mizahar's fantasy role playing forums. Why don't you register today? This message is not shown when you are logged in. Come roleplay with us, it's fun!)

This forum contains all the NaNo threads from years gone past. Thus far we have only 2011 archived! But hopefully we'll have a ton more forthcoming as the years go by and NaNo's come and go.

Hi GP, I think MizNoWriMo would look more better and Mizahar-like.
I. Vox Populi, Vox Dei
II. The Night the Watchtowers Cried

I am nothing special, of this I am sure. I am a common woman with common thoughts and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me, this has always been enough.

Good point, Jil, but I wanted to keep the "official" look for the badge, even though we are among the most unruly of NaNoRebels... Technically MizThreWriMo (or, judging by Serrif's word count, MizThreWriWeek).

With 480 posts in the last 24 hours, we utterly shattered the previous record of 333. :)

I really think that count is off....I really do....Because I don't think I wrote that many words.....But I could be wrong. I wrote 14k words according to the counter...I'm doing another count now to make sure that isn't true because it sure looks suspicious to me.

I did an Audit
Yesterday: 8 posts 7881 words

I'm going to have to start keeping count through Open Office and discount all my coding to get an accurate count.

I did a count in word as I posted yesterday and I was at something like 3600 words. The mix counter said 7000+. Rista's said she did almost 11k but when we put it in Word it was only 5k-ish. I think it's safe to assume the Miz counter is double the actual count wit al the spaces an code and whatever else it's counting.

Please refer to the official standings thread for your actual word count, to be updated daily. I think the Miza counter adds the words when you're previewing a post, too. I'm using raw SQL to make my own count in that thread.

Serrif, the counter seems to somehow double your actual word count. Microsoft Words set the word count of one my posts to about 2k+ words, but Mizahar's word counter updated it by adding about 5k words.
NOTICE: I am currently mostly inactive til August. As such, guild activities are temporarily halted (watch out for major revamps, changes and organizations when I'm back in full force). Any activity with Eri will be rather slow as well, but I am slowly readjusting back to "Mizahar life", so to speak, so do PM me if we have a thread that I left hanging and we'll talk.

Hi Guys.

It's been a bit since you've heard from me namely because I've been cranking out insane word counts per day. But I wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten about the Thread Challenge. I've come up with a clever idea though for presenting them. I kinda like the TV show sweet genius where he gives the chefs an inspiration and an ingredient then they must make a desert. Halfway through the allotted time he adds a new element. That's what the thread challenge is going to be. This eliminates any question of anyone writing ahead and forces people to actually have new goals as the NaNo progresses.

The Thread Challenge is a list of elements you MUST put into your threads during NaNo to receive the thread challenge medal. Here's how its going to work. I'm going to announce THREE elements on each saturday throughout the competition... with the last three being the shortest notice but probably a few of the easiest. If your lucky you'll already have them in your threads.

So you first three challenge elements will come on the 5th. Then the next three on the 12th. The next three will be on the 19th, and the last three on the 26th. AND to keep it fair, I will tap random people and ask THEM to post the elements so A. I don't know them all ahead of time. B. People get to spring things on others. C. We can keep the momentum going!

Enjoy guys. Feedback always welcome.

I like that Goss. If the word count really is off and/or people are slacking coz they think they've exceeded the day's expectations too easily, it sucks. Players get bored, pop out 50 K miza words and drop it. The challenges at interspersed times keep it flowing. I'd like to keep writing each day for the love of it--not just for the word count. We sometimes forget how clever our miza players are so challenges need to be frequent, fun and creative to keep people writing! :D
