[The Drunken Fish] Bar Brawl! (Open)

Zenai doesn’t know why but he’s holding a screaming man by his shirt while hitting him silly with a sausage. Zenai raised the sausage high above his head before bringing it down hard against the man’s face. It shouldn’t have hurt that much! Either he’s being overly dramatic or drunk or both, the man screamed as if Zenai was bashing him an Isurian-Steeled Poisoned-Venomous Mace of Infinite Death. Zenai had enough of it and decided to finish him off with a strong upper cut. The man collapsed into a drunk’s unconsciousness. Zenai look at the broken piece of sausage and decided to take a bite out of it. He hadn’t had his dinner yet and he wants to get out of this mess soon. However, one other objective was to locate Eridanus and perhaps save him from whatever he needed to be saved from.

It was then something hit Zenai’s back and he fell forward. Though the armor may have taken some of hit impact hit, the projectile would still create a fairly big bruise on his back. He clutched his back, trying to soothe the pain. “Son of a…” Zenai stopped himself and immediately rolled away to the right, realizing that he may be attacked again for the second time. A man missed his charge and has, instead, crashed into another melee where he joined them for a few rounds of brawling. Zenai grabbed a fallen table to pull himself up while still clutching his back. He’s going to have a see a massager and doctor in the morning for the bruise on his back.

He scanned his environment and saw Eridanus as if he had threw something but the sense of victory of actually finding his friend in this mess of a melee clouded the assumption that he was the one that threw that piece of chair at Zenai. “Eridanus! Finally!” Zenai limped over to him and just realizes that he was out of breath. “By Kelwyn’s mercy, I thought I lost you in the crowd! Come, let’s get out of here. I think I have enough of fun for one evening. We’ll go over to the Pig’s Foot.” Zenai turned to the direction he thought the exit was and bumped into something.

It was big, sweaty and meaty; the meat giant turned around to face Zenai. “Ooi. Yuz bump’d intah mee?” Asked the giant who was a head taller than Zenai and muscular all around. “Uhm…excuse me?” Zenai slowly retreated but the giant of a man took a step forward. “I fink yuz haf a prublem wit mee. Yuz know at happens tah peeplez dat haz a prublem wit me?” Zenai bade Eridanus to retreat with him. “Uh, you let them go?” The meat giant shook his head. “Nooz… Iz clobbers dem!” The meat giant rushed at them but Zenai sidestepped him and hopefully Eridanus does the same and it should be easy for him to do so. Zenai got himself an improvised weapon; a broken wooden leg from a chair. Hopefully, a few punts on the head would knock the meat giant out. “Here we go again!”

The throwing of the chair worked, and Eri succeeded in securing Zenai's attention when the half-Inarta turned to look at him. "Hell yeah, let's get out of his crazy-house," Eri could not agree more when Zenai suggested going to the more stable tavern which was much less prone to random bouts of drunken violence and overzealous merry-making, mainly due to the owner's ferocious temperament regarding such incidents. The management of the Pig's Foot had no tolerance for brawls, and the two of them definitely would benefit from less excitement.

Eri began towards the exit, but it seemed that Zenai had been disoriented in terms of direction in the fight, and he turned to walk deeper into the tavern, bumping into a huge man who seemed pretty slow on the uptake, the absence of normal mental growth evident in his slow lumbering speech. The ethaefal sighed as the giant rushed Zenai and the human responded with a broken wooden leg. It seemed that somehow things were not that easy, and he bent down from the table he was still on to grab another messed-up piece of furniture, throwing it at the giant. It was at a much closer range, and due to that man's enormous size it was quite impossible to miss, really.

The shambled pieces of wood smacked the giant, but he did not seem to notice, instead quite happy to focus on clobbering Eri's armour-clad friend. Eri leaped down from the table just as a plate of food sailed pass where his head used to be, and he heard a clang as the iron plate hit the wall behind him and clattered noisily on the table. He quite wanted to end this quickly, and he decided to 'cheat'. He crept behind the table he was standing on, using it as a shield as he began chanting the first line in a series of incantations that would direct djed down to his legs. It would be difficult to try to match strength with the huge man, and so he would rely on his advantage in agility and speed.

He felt his djed draining as he unlocked the 'dam' that prevented unnecessary djed flow, and he felt strength filling in his legs, granting him the confidence that he could indeed be as fast as what his body believed he could do with this new-found speed.

Eri emerged from his hiding spot and grabbed the plate to leap forward in order to help Zenai, beating the iron culinary piece on the giant's back. After several thumps he realized that the iron plate was bending, either due to the giant's impressive fortitude or the poor workmanship of the item. Either way, it was unusable and he tossed it on the floor.

The giant finally realized that there was another attacker in the fray, and he turned around to try to clap Eri's head in his oversized hands. Eri ducked nimbly, and was forced to tumble away when the giant's knee came up in an attempt to break his nose. The huge man was better at fighting than he looked, and definitely faster that his appearance made him out to be. Eri fumbled on the floor around him, patting the ground for anything to use and his hands grabbed around something. That was enough for him, and while Zenai re-engaged the giant in combat he leaped forward again, swinging his new-found weapon at the giant.

A spoon. Eri's lightning fast jabs that were borne out of his structured martial arts background alternated with well, the spoon attack soon caused the ineffective weapon to bend, and he threw that to the side as well, quickly stepping back to avoid the man's retaliatory strikes.

Is there anything that can be used as a proper weapon around here?!

The answer was, of course, no, for the staff who were used to such events were well-trained in removing anything that could be used to effectively kill. Of course if one wanted to it was still possible, but knives, sharp objects and the like were already quickly removed by the staff, causing the brawlers to resort in random dull pieces of furniture or their own fists.

Eri grabbed another spoon off the table near him, and he turned to kick the table against an incoming challenger, upending its contents on the sailor and staggering the man back into another group of people, the messy punches of that group drawing the man back into the fray. That was fine as far as Eri was concerned, for the did not need another guy to complicate things. He just wanted to take down this thick-headed guy who was their obstacle between freedom and this entire huge mess.

The ethaefal gripped the spoon, and he smacked the giant repeatedly with it, alternating between strategically aimed jabs while weaving in and out. He was not stupid enough to try to actually block the giant's hits, for the man was obviously quite strong. There was something comical about this sight of a man hammering a giant with a spoon to no effect. Eri hoped that Zenai was having more success on his end.

[The Drunken Fish] Bar Brawl! (Open)

Postby Zenai on November 28th, 2011, 3:31 am

Zenai could dodge the giant all he wants but eventually, Zenai would tire out and be hit with those arms packed with muscles and bones. Fortunately, he wasn’t an Isur otherwise Zenai would have disintegrated if he actually got hit. Zenai retaliated by beating the giant’s arms away, not willing to get in close due to the fear of being bear-hugged by the giant. Eridanus had thrown a piece of broken furniture at the giant but it didn’t do much other than distracting the giant for a moment and a moment is all Zenai needed to take an attack of opportunity at the giant. Zenai had thrown own his own projectile at the giant before charging at him. The buffoon recovered before was hit again by Zenai’s own broken piece of furniture, putting him almost off balance. Zenai went in with a knee-kick to the giant’s crotch and when the giant wanted to bent over in pain; Zenai would head-butt the giant. Hopefully, his helmet and leg greaves would add to the damage while protecting him from the brunt of the force. His head-butt and knee-kick made contact, the giant roared as he fell over backwards. Zenai himself stumbled backwards as the giant was actually made of much harder stuff than he anticipated.

Eridanus had put in his own efforts by pummeling the giant with an assortment of eateries including a spoon and a plate but the giant obviously been in more brawls than he could count; if that is if he could ever count. The giant just shrugged off the attacks and was intent on bashing Zenai into a tin can. The giant rolled over onto his hands and sprinted at Zenai to bull-rush him. The giant rushed him, knocking away everything in his path but Zenai was able to see his move easily and moved out of the way of the charge. The giant crashed into a pile of furniture and unconscious brawlers. Zenai wanted to flee with Eridanus but they were still in the middle of the brawl and the giant would have been still on their tails. He decided to finish the giant there and then otherwise they would be pursued the whole way. The giant recovered and let out another roar at Eridanus and Zenai before charging into them so he could get at them with his fists. Zenai dodged a punch while Eridanus would have evaded a kick. Zenai then counterattacked and signaled for Eridanus to go around to the giant’s back for a pincer maneuver.

Zenai’s opponent came at him with one fist at a time as if he couldn’t breathe and punch at the same time. Breathe. Punch. Breathe. Punch. Breathe. Punch. Zenai could almost make out his pattern and though he had Eridanus circled around the giant, Zenai didn’t exactly have a plan to knock this fellow out. The meat giant was stupid and stupidity had its advantages like not knowing when you are beaten. Zenai could hear that Eridanus is trying to pummel the giant from the back but given his intelligence and sheer lack of pain nerves, the giant would have thought that a mosquito was biting him. Zenai just busied himself coming up with a plan and redirecting the giant’s punches; stopping the punches would be possible but inefficient and it would hurt too. A punch would come at him and Zenai would just push it away, redirecting the strike elsewhere. One came too close to their tight and was hit in the face. Zenai could hear the jawbone crunching under the momentum and force of the giant’s punch. He was sent flying across the bar and Zenai assumed knocked out unconscious just like that. Zenai would need to think of something fast but all he come out with was to hit the giant with something.

Zenai finally decided to go with the plan he has currently and called for Eridanus to distract the giant while he initiated his plan. Zenai rolled over to his left side to evade a punch and left Eridanus to deal with the giant. Zenai looked around for anything hard enough to put a dent at that skull giant. He crouched and sneaked through while the bar was still brawling around him. He didn’t get very far when he found an unbroken chair. In a bar brawl, everyone should get hurt and everything should get broken; this chair was no exception. He grabbed the chair and look for his target. It was very easy to spot the giant and he was still trying to get at Eridanus but knowing him, the Vantha would have the giant try and catch him like a pig trying to catch a butterfly. He got his target and started to run at him, trying to pick up speed and momentum for his strike. Zenai has one chance at this and he shouldn’t miss. Zenai shouted at the top of his lungs, trying to gather rage and energy when he brings the chair over his head and smash it into the giant.

He picked speed; at first jogging before going for a full run at the giant. He jumped over overturned furniture and unconscious drunks before almost reaching the giant and within melee distance. He jumped onto a pile of drunks before leaping into the air. Zenai then screamed out, “The bigger they are, the harder I hit!” He brought the chair down with all his might and rage as he came upon the giant. The chair impacted the back of the giant’s head and splintered into uncountable pieces. The giant stumbled forward and wobble around from being hit in the back while Zenai actually latched onto the giant. He still wasn’t down yet but Zenai was able to break the skin on the giant’s bald head. The Tagger decided to follow up on his power-chair strike and sent his right fist into the giant’s head. Zenai pulled his right fist back before sending it forward against the skull of his opponent. He does this several times while holding onto the giant by his neck in an effort to both choke and beat him into unconsciousness. “Eridanus, finish this buffoon off! Do something!” Zenai can’t hope to fell the giant alone and hoped Eridanus had something up his sleeves. Zenai held on to dear life as the giant tried to shake him off.

OOC@ Eri, finish him off. @ Others: Make any final posts. Gonna close this up soon and send it up for grading.

Zenai signalled to him, and as the two of them had been through quite a lot of scuffles together, the ethaefal knew that his friend intended to invoke a common tactic the two of them always used in unison - the pincer attack. Wordlessly, Eri carefully manoeuvred himself to always make sure that the giant was perfectly in between him and Zenai. It seemed that Zenai somehow managed to fully secure the huge man's attention, and so Eridanus utilized his advantage to deal damage as much as he could, though keeping himself on guard in the event of a counter attack. The spoon he was attacking with had already bent, and his hands were becoming sore from the attacks that somehow did no damage to the man at all.

Eri reached behind him and groped blindly on the table nearby for something he could use to give his slowly bruising hands a moment of respite, and he grabbed the first metallic thing he could find. He swung forward with the weapon, and he found himself bouncing a fork off the giant's back. The fork was pretty blunt from wear and tear, and it was like punching rubber. The buffoon was sufficiently fleshy for the fork to actually bounce off on impact, and Eri swore, throwing the fork away and reaching behind for something else.

This time, he leaped back to let Zenai fully occupy the giant, and he found an eating knife on the table. He knew he really shouldn't, but he was beginning to tire and just wanted to finish this. Besides, he was not intending to kill the man with knife, maybe injure him enough to necessitate a truce. The ethaefal edged back into action, and the giant responded by suddenly giving a back-hand swing. Eri ducked again, and he noticed to himself that he had never ducked so many times before in one night in quite a while. He took the window of opportunity to nimbly step forward, gripping the eating knife as he forcefully stabbed the giant on his chest.

Alas, it was not to be. Eri's eyes figuratively popped out as his hand gripping the knife bounced off the giant again. Literally. He quickly backed off, taking a second look at the knife and he noticed that it was blunt again. The tavern owners were pretty smart, for they knew that someone would eventually think of using the 'sharp' utensils and so they had purposely used only blunt utensils. Sharp enough to eat with, but too blunt to do piercing damage.

While he had been keeping the giant focused on him, Zenai had run off, probably to find something they could use to take down the man properly. Eri knew that he and Zenai could easily draw their deadly weapons and make swiss cheese of this man, but it was not in the spirit of the bar brawl and he did not believe in drawing weapons unless the other party drawn theirs. It was a code of honour of sorts, and one that he usually stuck to. Unless he had the intention to kill the other party from the start, of course.

Suddenly, there was a shadow over the area, and a second later he found Zenai screaming something as he came from the air somehow, smashing a chair against the giant. The man finally stumbled, and Zenai grappled the top of the man like a monkey, repeatedly punching the giant's head. So that was how it worked. Eri decided to take his inspiration from Zenai, and he quickly looked around now that the heat was taken off him as the giant remained disoriented by Zenai's latest attack.

His eyes were drawn on a broken table, and Eri grunted as he dragged the table towards the fight. A sailor decided to engage the ethaefal, but when he gave the man a death-glare and intentionally twitched his hand towards his blades to portray a foul temper, the man was sober enough to get the hint and went for another target. He focused on the djed streams within him, intent to use it a last time for the night as he was sure this would be the finishing move. The ethaefal felt empowered as strength slowly filled up his upper torso at the expense of his agility and speed, and he grunted again as he lifted the broken table more comfortably, striding forward to the giant.

Zenai was keeping him busy, and as Eri approached he dropped the table for the moment, grabbing a nearby mug. "Hey petcher! Look over here or I'll keelhaul you," He yelled at the giant, using the cup to smack the giant on his back before throwing it away. His augmented strength did little to damage the man, but while his previous hits were like mosquito bites this flux-enhanced attack was more like playful shove. The giant turned around as expected, and it was exactly what Eri wanted.

"Zenai, stop being a monkey and petch off," Eri warned his friend, giving him a moment to disengage before he launched his final attack. "Be prepared to walk this plank, you scurvy dog!" Eri yelled before heaving the entire table. It was only possible because of his supernatural strength, and even with it his muscles were already straining. He took a deep breath, swinging it and smashing it quite properly on the giant, the already broken table splintering from the impact. It was finally too much for the buffoon, and his opponent looked at Eri confusingly before dropping unconscious on the floor.

Eri took a moment to dissipate the djed streams in his body, for he was beginning to feel that he was closed to his limit especially with his previous, flashy attack, and the huge sound of the table smashing as well as the sight of him felling a huge man convinced the rest of the brawlers to stay away from him. He motioned to Zenai and gestured towards the door, "Let's get the shyke outta here."

[The Drunken Fish] Bar Brawl! (Open)

Postby Dhalvasha on November 28th, 2011, 5:55 pm

Near his right, a Vantha assaulted a man with a spoon. The act might have seemed comically desperate had Dhalvasha the time to pay more attention. Instead he was facing his own demons, one in the form of a drunken man swaying from foot to foot as though some awkwardly side stepping bird. Dhalvasha tasted blood, and was no supporter of the taste. His father roared in his mind, lambasted his misuse of form and tactic, the striking serenity of a Symenestra and debasing himself in such a wild fashion.

He did not tell the inner voice to silence, knowing only illusion held his mind in the throes of memory, instead he crouched, splaying his claws wide before bringing them in.

The drunk charged again, snatching a tankard from an unoccupied table and wielding it like a pewter club. Dhalvasha spit, dancing back on his feet and throwing himself in a sideways roll. His clothes caught against the rough floor and tore, swatches of pale skin illuminated in the musky atmosphere. He was graceful by virtue of his race, but hardly the sort of ease in movement an aerial dancer might employ.

He had grown complacent in his non combative role.

Up on his feet he pitched forward, far too unpracticed to take an immediate stance. Down came the pewter tankard and Dhalvasha rolled under a table, the weapon smacking against the wood with a dull thunk. Black claws lashed at the arm connected to the tankard, long lines of crimson purchased in desperation along the brawler's arm.

With a roar, the drunk hurled the table from the ground, spilling other fighters left and right. Dhalvasha was beneath him, red eyes narrowed as the barrel chested brute lifted both his fists and knit his fingers. The blow would crush the fragile Widow and Dhalvasha could feel adrenaline beating a tattered beat against his skull. Lunging forward, Dhalvasha used both his arms to elevate his body and throw himself at the drunk. The blow was too wide and Dhalvasha was inside his range. Fangs out, the Symenestra fought as though his life was in danger...which, in all honesty, it was. All urbane poise and rich control was gone from his nimble frame, and he sank his fangs into the man's throat, releasing a flood of toxin before slipping around to his back. Using it as a springboard, Dhalvasha sprung away from a gurgled scream and the patter of confused steps.

A lack of grace was almost necessary with a lack of plan.

He crashed into another drunk's back, rolling away beneath a sea of feet and fists.

Humans...such brutal creatures.

And yet...there was something to envy in the punishment their frames could take.

Dazed, blinded, spinning in his own personal world of silence...Dhalvasha picked himself up among broken bottles and discarded teeth. He could hear the bellows of the battle still in progress, knew that he was not able to continue, and slunk along the floor toward the back of the bar.

To those who saw him, small ghost along the floor, Dhalvasha transfixed each gaze with lances of focused Djed, mantras of hypnotic suggestion to channel rage elsewhere, send fists to another place. Anger, rage...they were not easy emotions to stop, but simplistic to redirect. The blood in his mouth was sharp, and he worried of Overgiving, settling with his back against the tavern wall and surrounded by discarded stools and chairs.

His victim pitched forward, his neck bleeding with corrosive venom, smashing a table aside as he hit the ground.

Murder was common place in Sunberth...but if the fellow had friends, he would have to be well aware of his movement from now on.

Everything with consequence.

And oh how he wished to be stronger....the little voice of his father impounding the value continued.

Yes, strength was hardly just the measure of power over life and death, but to control ones outward situation.

As he was...he could not.

As he was...

[The Drunken Fish] Bar Brawl! (Open)

Postby Zenai on December 1st, 2011, 1:10 pm

It wasn’t before long that Zenai had stopped trying to beat his opponent skull in and hold on tight to the giant as he tried to shake Zenai off his back. The giant bucked and shook while Zenai held on with his two arms wrapped tightly around the giant’s neck. He wanted to try to choke his opponent into unconsciousness but now, it was more of a trying-to-hold-on-to-dear-life issue. “Get off o’ me, will ya?!” The giant demanded as he spins around, trying to shake off Zenai. “Not on your life, you big lummox!” In his own response, the giant spun like a wild tornado as he was much more intent on getting Zenai off his back. He spun and spun around and around until Zenai felt nausea but he held on; not willing to give especially when they’re so close to beating him. “Speaking of which, where is Eridanus? Wasn’t he supposed to finish off this guy?” Zenai would have tried to look out for his friend but clinging to a wild giant as he danced around to shake Zenai loose made it difficult to do so. Zenai was at his limit; if Eridanus doesn’t do something fast, Zenai will bail.

It was then a cup hit the giant and the giant turned around to see Eridanus threatening him. “Finally, Eridanus! You’re-“ Eridanus came at them with a table and bade for Zenai to get off the giant. Zenai gladly did so; releasing his grip on the giant as he didn’t want to be around when that table hits. He let one of legs give way and landed on one of his knees before rolling away from the giant. When that table hits the giant, the giant is going to fall down like a big tree. Zenai wanted to be as far away as possible so he wouldn’t be in any possible area where the giant might fall on him. The Tagger heard a variety of sounds; one would be the sound of splintering wood, another would be a cracking of bones while the last one that Zenai could discern would be the roar of defeat from the giant. Meanwhile, Zenai rolled away and slid into a pile of unconscious drunk men. As he couldn’t retreat any farther, he looks up to see if he was out of range and he was; the giant fell backwards and quite away from Zenai who stood up and clapped his hands.

He approached Eridanus and grasped the shoulders of his friend. “Nice work but I have to say that it seems that you’re one-upping me, isn’t it? Well, no matter. Let’s get out of here. I had my fill of fighting and violence.” His friend merely nodded but just as eager to get out of the Drunken Fish as Zenai was. The duo fought their way out; one covering the other’s flank. Pow! Bam! Smash! Ka-pow! The duo fought like true brothers-in-arms. Drunks would come at them and they would be quickly dispatched by the one then finished off by the other. Eridanus and Zenai systemically fought their way out and eventually none got in their way but not because they feared Zenai and Eridanus; they were already outside and quite clear of the brawl that’s still continuing on. Zenai and Eridanus would have seen more and more coming in to join the brawl as if they never want the brawl to end. Zenai thought Sunberth would eventually run out of drunken sailors though but Zenai could be wrong. “Come. Onwards to the Pig’s Foot and a proper petching meal. Bala’s blessings; I could eat a whole pig tonight. Excuse the pun.” Zenai jested.

[The Drunken Fish] Bar Brawl! (Open)

Postby Dhalvasha on December 2nd, 2011, 5:29 pm

He had observed enough knuckle dragging stupidity to fill books and then some, an overflowing chalice of pointless violence suffusing through the bar. Dhalvasha ached, unaccustomed to such tumbling battles even after a childhood training to be a hunter. Medicine eschewed such heavy handed practices...if he wanted to kill a man, he'd do it with poison, in the night...as any proper one should. Honor was the antiquated after thought of a population drunk off its own prowess. What more did honor matter after death? Did it afford a better afterlife? Did the so-called gods swarm around an 'honorable' man and carry him off to some paradise?

It was ludicrous, all of it.

Stepping from his makeshift shelter, the Symenestra cast only a quick glance at the sputtering opponent still rolling on the tavern floor. Dhalvasha had eaten recently, so the venom would be no more than distilled agony...but he would keep his life. Still, it wouldn't be prudent to remain in such a charged area, not by a longshot.

Dhalvasha hugged the walls, shuffling toward the door. To those he met on the way, his eyes were the luminescent edge of Hypnotism, Djed coursing along their length in concentrated bursts to mantra how inadequate an opponent the doctor was, how fragile he seemed, how dishonorable it would be to crush him like a twig. Most of the brutes seemed content to attack the Vantha and the other human near the center of the tavern, a distinction Dhalvasha was thankful for. This sort of environment was not conducive to his kind, all brutal elbows and knees rather than the grace of a more relaxed engagement.

He slipped from the front door, passing into the street before pressing a hand to the swelling where the drunk had hit him. It could have been worse, would have been...and suddenly observing humans seemed a mite more dangerous. Like with most wild animals, one had to be careful not to take an active role in observation.

Lest they be eaten alive.

Thank you all for the privildege of moderating, unfortunately with deaths in the family and ailing health I am retiring. All thread grades I had on my pc have been forwarded to founders and paragon, so expect them posted soon.
It's been a mixed bag at times , but with all the good and the bad and mixed signals, I can honestly say: Thank you. Please support the next mods of sunberth as well as you have done me.
