And Tock it makes me sad how true those are. I like pretending they care about my shopping experience but in the end... We're all just walking bags of potential profit. :/

Economics 101, first day of class, first thing we learned is that one of the top rules of economic theory is that "Businesses are in the market to maximize their profits." It affects everything they do.

Case in point: Netflix changed their pricing plans like a year or so ago. They took the Instant Watch off their normal plans and charge separate for it. Reports I read estimated they lost 10% of their customers over it.

The other 90% wound up paying MORE for continued service, even if they weren't happy about it.

I feel for ya, V-man. I've worked in restaurants for sixteen years. And known lots of people who worked retail. They're a couple of the worst industries to work in, from a "OMG I hate all customers EVER!" point of view.

(Though I understand there are more stressful, dangerous, difficult jobs out there. As much as a bad day at a restaurant can be, it's nothing compared to, say, the ER. Worst day I ever have delivering pizzas, I still don't have to deal with the possibility of anyone dying...)
