[The Great Library] Reading amongst the Dead(Rayage)

Vick did not say anything at first when Rayage had asked him the question. He just slide a sharp knife along his finger and smeared his inchor along each set of the new armor, as he did a soft glow emitted from each set before turning back to normal.

His Auristics flared to life as he pulled his djed from the depths of his soul into his eyes. Looking at the new creation they had made together. This was the first time Vick had ever really worked with anyone but he was taken back. Speechless almost as his fingers touched each piece softly as if they were apart of him before he smiled to himself as he put on each part.

He moved the left arm to his own arm, yet even without cords it molded on to himself and stayed on its own free will though the power of the magic. Malediction had a bad habit of keeping objects on to people in different ways. The same went for the right part, left and right leg and even after he placed the cap on last.

So there he stood, a young eight or nine year old child wearing what looked like steel armour that stayed on to his body despite no cords or leather straps. His unblinking eyes just took it all in as he flexed his hands open and shut as he was trying to summon forth his djed once more for his auristics yet he could not. It felt like it was behind a thick wall faraway but he did not panic like he would have years ago. He just took off his helmet and as soon as he did his magic came flooding back to him.

“Human, Come stand before me. I need to test this out.” Vick said ordering the human about as he put the helmet back on. It would seem he was not able to focus his djed into personal magic but if the artifact gave him what he thought he saw he would not have needed magic.

Even if Thomas did not listen to Vick, Vick himself would have gone to him. Without any reason besides to test out the new artifact Vick threw a right hand punch towards Thomas stomach. If he had moved Vick would had then threw a left jab to his face before a low right kick.

Vick never once fought before in his long life. Never even thought of fighting with his hands but he seemed to know just what to do and how to do it. The armour gave him a good amount of skill fighting but with his own understanding of the human body he was a force to be reckon with even if his body still was slugish due to being a nuit.

If the blows had hit than Vick would have stopped but if Thomas had dodge the attacks than he would have kept going. Left jab towards the ribs, right jab towards lower stomach, left and right towards his throat. His body moved as if he had fought for months and not just learning it. The artifact told him what to do, guiding him as he just saw Thomas as something to beat. To kill almost.

Vick did not even take into account what the artifact was doing to Thomas or even Rayage for that matter. It was giving off an area wide effect making them feel uneasy and unsure of themselves. A ringing in the back of their head almost telling them to flee. To hide away from the darkness.

He would have stopped yet on his own time. If the human had told him to stop Vick would not have listened or even cared. After a few punches and kicks he would back off and giggle like a little kid playing with a new toy. Really was it a new toy to him.

Yet his unblinking eyes told a different story, they were pulsing almost with life. Passion. He was enjoying feeling the power of the new artifact. And it showed so deeply within himself as he watched the human as if he was beneath him.

[The Great Library] Reading amongst the Dead(Rayage)

"Thomas," the young animator replied, "My name is Thomas. Not human and not pulser," Thomas finished, staring at the Nuit-child cautiously.

The body couldn't have been more then eight or nine years when the malediction master had taken it, and while the Nuit-child had originally disgusted him by using a child's body, Thomas couldn't explain the growing sense of unease the washed over him as the undead Master apprached him. It wasn't a subtle feeling, and Thomas did everything in his power to stay himself - despite his own instict screaming at him to run.

The uneasyness overwhelmed him, to the point he would never have seen the first punch. A sharp jab to the stomach forced adrenaline to run through his body, the world seemingly slowing with every. passing. second.

Vick's low kick landed, forcing Thomas to the ground. The young animator grunted as his head hit the stone floor, his vision blurred. He struggled to get up, only to have Vick's fist meet his chin and neck, forcing the pulser to the ground once more. Pain pounded throughout his body, not only from the Nuit-childs jab, but from his body slamming agains the ground.

He moaned, forcing himself to roll -- and Vick missed. Whether or not the bones where improving his own abillity to fight, they weren't compensating for the Nuit's innate sluggishness. Still, Thomas tried to defend himself. His hands flayed out before him instinctively, reaching out to grab whatever he could. Thomas blocked very little, and was losing. Thomas was in no condition to fight back -- it was obvious he had no previous experience fighting. The young animator struggled to his feet, only to meet the pounding of Vick's small fist and feet.

Thomas groaned panifully, refusing to tell the Nuit to stop. He wasn't weak and refused to be percieved as much. He knew he wouldn't die here -- Thomas couldn't and wouldn't believe the Seeing Lady would leave him to face his death without warning.

Suddenly, it stopped. And all Thomas heard was giggling.

And he just stayed on the floor, refusing to get up -- the cold of the stone was soothing against his enflamed skin. The floor did nothing for his ego, the only foreseeable cure being Vick's pain brought by Thomas' hands.

He promised himself that one day, that Nuit would pay.

[The Great Library] Reading amongst the Dead(Rayage)

The nuit took some steps back as he watched the happenings between the two. Vick had quickly donned the armor which they had crafted. It wasn’t superior craftsmanship, but they were not superior artists. Ray had only frozen the molded bones in place by turning them into dense steel. So what they looked like was highly dependent on how Vick had formed to look like. The process had hardly anything to do with Rayage’s alchemy. In most he wasn’t going to claim any credit appearance for the armor, but merely aiding in the crafting of the objects. It wasn’t much, but he had accelerated the process that Vick had made, and he could see that the other was joyful of that.

Looking at Master Vick the nuit became uneasy. He felt this naggings sensation come over him. It was like an instinct, and following it Rayage took a couple more steps back. He felt a danger that he could not shake, no matter it. The feeling made him grip upon his djed, ready to do anything, something if the danger was directed his way. Sword by his side the ancient weapon had served him well, a hand resting upon it. The coldness of the handle comforting him, but only a little. The nuit was ready for anything. What was this feeling that came over him? Was this the power of item which they had just crafted?

The immortal watched on, grinning a little as the human announced his name, ”Human,” Rayage said out of spite of what was just said, ”you have to earn your name here. There is no use of learning the name of trash if you are just going to discard it, if it’s just going to disappear soon, right?” he left his words hang in the air, ”Of course not,” he waved a hand, ”that would be a waste of time.” he pointed out rather coldly.

It was shortly after Rayage had said that, that the action really began. Vick had thrown a punch, and no matter how ridiculous it seemed to have a nuit fighting with their bare hands, the other was doing it. The style was not unpracticed, as blows were made bringing the human down to the floor. The sound of air being knocked out of Thomas made Rayage smile sadistically. The small grunts of pain when the nuit made contact was pleasurable. Watching the exchange and how the human ‘defended’ himself it was evident that he had never done that before. It was a shame, he was hoping for more of a show, but he just smiled not really caring about that at the moment.

After a bit of struggle the nuit crossed his arms, so this is the power of Malediction. It can grant one with the abilities of those who possessed the bones in life. He guessed that the human which the ‘armor’ was crafted out of was a decent fighter based on Vicks movements. He hadn’t seen a nuit fight like that before, and it was almost comical to him. He let out a laugh as the fighting stopped and Vick was just giggling. It wouldn’t hurt to share in the fun, would it? ”You see human,” he said, ”magic is quite fickle, no?” he took a couple steps closer, looking down at the person on the floor. There was nothing he could do about it, ”You’d do best to remember that, and no matter what you create or how ‘finely’ you create it there will always be hiccups. There will always be something unforeseen. There will always be something that you did not consider. Even when something works out ‘perfectly’ you will find some insight into the product which you might not have considered before. There is always something to learn from both success and failure. Which gets you father on your journey? I have not decided that yet, sadly. Though keep in mind it is not that magic which makes the wizard, but the wizard which makes the magic.” he gave advice, ”You might want to get up. You have no idea what has been on this floor.” he said.

Vick just smiled as he let out a soft laugh from his dead lips. This was power. A power he had spent years trying to make and at last he was now making his first steps towards a dream he had since he was so very young with the help of Rayage. He never thought about shaping his bones with the power of another magic but so many doors could be open with the help of this Master and he knew so many more could be swayed with the power of Malediction.

“Master Rayage, I look forward to working with you more but for now I am going to take my leave. This artifact has already changed so many things in such a short amount of time. I dare say you have sparked life into me and made me wonder what we could do for each other inside this island. This storm already seems to be but a small pinprick in the greater good of our goals.”

Vick said as he looked on to the Master of Alchemy. A small glance passed towards the human on the ground as Vick’s smile grew more twisted as he thought of hurting him just for the fun of it but for now he would bide his time.

“I shall be in my office, taking more notes of this new artifact. I daresay a lot of higher ups will want to know about this sooner or later and how it can make even our race stand toe to toe with other races that deal with brute power. Now I just need to find a way to enhance our speed with this artifact. Maybe bones of the large cat breeds for short bursts but for now research awaits.”

Vick said as he bowed his head towards Rayage and left them to do whatever they would do. Vick had his goal and more. Rayage on the other hand he did not know but at least he knew the three of them knew a bit of each other in terms of what they could do and offer.
