As the moon beast sat up, he did not tense. Though a part of him had considered it. To tense and pull back... Or to come at her and smash her with his staff. A primitive part of him. But he pushed that aspect down, barely even registering it as an option for more than half a tick. He could do those things, but there was currently no reason to. She seemed no direct danger. And he was confident in his abilities to defend himself. If she became a threat, or came racing at him, it would be simple enough to launch the small fireball that was lighting things, right at her. Which would give him the time to muster a much stronger attack, and really incapacitate her. But only if he had to. For now, there was no need to fight. If anything, his curiosity was reigning supreme, as he wondered what exactly she was, what her deal was, how she differed from the other Ethaefal he had met... He was simply curious, as he looked her in the face, focusing on that. For he knew if she attacked, the earliest evidence of it would be in her facial expressions... Unless she really was acting that well... He did not even consider the thought of taking advantage of her, had no inkling of it, even though it was running through her mind. The fact that she was a female and alone, and vulnerable, and at his mercy, did not take on any further meaning to him, beyond that it meant he was safe from being attacked. It was not from any nobleness of spirit, but he had no need to do so. It was just not in his nature. Even if she had offered, he most likely would have said no. He already had a girl, of sorts. It would have seemed illogical for him to try and have another for the same capacity. So the thought never crossed his mind. Clyde listened to her muttered and stumbled answers, as she slowly tried to give him a satisfactory one, to the questions he had asked. But the more he listened, the more confused he got... Either she was lying... Or some very odd mechanisms were at work... Though now that he thought on it, she was not a mundane being... It did sort of make an odd sense that she would not receive her energy like a person from eating and such, but from some other divine source. Though he was a bit confused still... Was she telling him he fed off the moons energy? Really, it seemed a bit silly, and he wondered if it was some odd joke... But he did recall her mentioning something of the moon God... And so had the last Ethaefal... Calling herself a child of him, or some such thing, albeit a discarded or lost child, who had been lost and fell to earth... The other one perhaps was some kind of disaffected moon beast. After all, the other one had seemed angry at her God, for abandoning her. Perhaps because she had become angry at him, and left from him, he had cut her off from the divine food source of feeding off the moon, like this one here did? Perhaps the only way she could make up for this loss of djed that she would have been receiving through divine intervention through the power of the light of the moon, was to steal it from other creatures, taking there djed directly, to subsist off of. Enabling her powers in this form, even with the loss of the moons energy... It did make an odd sense... But this one, though abandoned, still had face and a connection to her God... He did not recall the other one having one, a mark from her God... Perhaps it was through this link, that she could turn the moon's power, and channel it, and use it as a source of food. So this one then did not need to feed off of him or any other living thing, did not need to steal life, for it was given to her nightly by her God... He supposed that did make sense... "Alright, I believe you... I think I figured it out... You can get up, I am not going to attack you. It seems you are not like the other moon person I met. She was like you in a way, but had rebelled from your God, so I guess he stopped feeding her... So she had to steal life from others to stay like you... But since you are still with him, he still feeds you... And you have no need to do that..." A satisfied look on his face, from finally figuring it all out, he took a step closer to the girl. "Sorry about that... I am Clyde... And you are? Uhm... Are you all right? That water looks cold... I can make a fire if you need one, there is plenty of wood in the forest we are on the edge of..." Clyde said, a bit ashamed, and not making direct eye contact, at how he had freaked out, and jumped to assumptions. Though considering what had happened last time, it was an understandable assumption to make really, and to be wary of it occurring again. So the least he could do was try to make up for it a bit, and help her get a bit warm and dried off. |
