Forming a Group in Syliras?

Postby Genryuu Senkou on July 16th, 2013, 4:05 am

So here's my million-dollar-idea. Or well really... its just a regular idea that's probably not gonna generate much mizas. We should be pretty lucky if we don't suffer personal income loss from this one. So if you're still reading, here it is.

I'm thinking of setting up some Order/Group/Faction in Syliras. And since my character has always been about helping people and such, here's my idea(s).

1) The Syliran Militia/ Order of Vagabonds

Basically, we all know how the Syliran Knights uphold justice and order within the walls of Syliras with an iron fist. More than a 500 yards outside the walls though? Not so much. It hardly matters that people die or get injured outside the city of course, as it just makes the safety and security of the city all the more apparent and attractive. The Syliran Militia/Order of Vagabonds (not sure which name i like better, or maybe some other one) is basically a group of people that functions in a way similarly to the historical Templar Knights. They help maintain order and peace in areas too far from the regular jurisdiction of the regular Syliran Knights, often ensuring safe passage of merchants and travellers, foiling the schemes of slavers, bandits and wildebeests alike.

2) Yorozuya (Odd-Jobs House)

This is an idea based on an infamous anime called Gintama. The main idea is that this order (more like a business) will have set up a base in the city, and helps the city overall by doing Odd-End Jobs that the Knights or other law enforcement groups deem unimportant.

Lost a cat up on the rooftops of the Stormhold Citidael? Can't find a way to persuade your stubborn daughter from venturing out into the Bronze Woods? Need someone to help guard your house while you leave on a business trip? Or really just need protection from mavelont forces who want to hurt you or your family? Yorozuya is the place to call upon.

Now the key thing here is that this is a lawful establishment, which means we have to do things by the book, and can only toe the line at best. Obviously, consultation fees will be paid, with initial deposit (non-refundable) up front and subsequent payment for successful completion.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know this is very long and kudos to those who have actually read it. If you are in any way interested, or just wanna get in touch about your ideas in forming a group, don't hesitate to add your post below this or just PM me. This is just a rough work-in-progress, so any kinds of brainstorming would be awesome.

Forming a Group in Syliras?

I'd be interested in joining a group if it's approved by a mod as a job and we actually do a few threads role-playing the group. I've already met your character IC so it wouldn't be a stretch to join something he started. ;)

Sounds Cool

I like the Idea, and i'd like to participate. However, like Wade said. We might need to check with the ST if this is okay as a job, I guess it would fall under mercenaries... I think.

I could easily see Simon being the 'jerk' of the team. The one who does follow order, so long as he gets the last word. Although he isn't great a combat, he quite familiar with information exaction, Demoralisation and stealth. So essentially a support or utility type person.

Cool well, I'm just throwing around some ideas for now... The main priority is, so far to

A) Get jobs and revenue-- this sort of organization will require at least some form of starting cash so we should get as much of it as we can at present

B) Train and develop your skills through RPing so that you have at least one skill at Expert or multiple skills at Competent levels.

Till then,

Well this organization idea would do well to start off as more of a social gathering before anything else.

Shiyami already watches the city of Syliras consistently. It wouldn't be hard to convince him to continue to do so.

So I've been talking with Genryuu over PMs a little and it seems we have compatible ideas and views of the future. So you can count Ronan in as soon as he returns from his business trip up north. He should be back sometime early in the next season. I look forward to working with all of you and to make this one successful business venture.

Forming a Group in Syliras?

Idea

May I propose an Idea for this social gathering that'll lead up the the creation of the group?

What I had in mind is some sort of event, one that is dangerous and one that takes a moment for the Syliran guards to react to. For example, a planned robbery happens at a business. This robbery takes place as our PC's are in the area. So naturally he try to stop the thieves. Because the robbery was planned, we have able fighters whom we can fight. After we catch the criminals, the PC's realized that they make a good team, thus forming the group.

This is just an Idea that i'm throwing in, feel free to jumble it and modify it into your own.

Guys, nice plan you got here and all, but I have to urge you to reconsider the 'robbery inside the city walls' idea as all 'guards' in Syliras are knights and squires and there are a lot of them. :) The robbers wouldn't get far and even if they did, that means they are highly organized and far beyond what you guys could handle at your current skill level.

However I would very much help you guys with a mass moderated thread involving all of you in the taking down a group of bandits terrorizing the Kabrin Road. :) The Knights could use a mercenary group or two. You will gain reward and a good reputation among the Order.

Forming a Group in Syliras?

Postby Ronan Dugal on July 17th, 2013, 6:54 am

I don't think taking down an entire bandit group right from the start would be the best idea. Maybe getting robbed somewhere along the road and fending off a single attack first, which would lead to the creation of the business/group. Then afterwards, after we've gained some more skills for ourselves, we could go and start hunting down the bandit HQ. But taking down an entire bandit organization from the start doesn't sound like a good idea.

I think it is better to start of slow and do small jobs first. Sure we can start off with some medium sized adventure perhaps a little over our levels but I think it is more important, especially considering the volatile nature of the business, to go with a series of small adventures afterwards to build up skill and then raid a bandit fort or something.
