We got into quite a lengthy discussion in chat about literature. I know as role-players, a lot of us are well read, and it would be awesome if the rest of us could benefit from the learning each of us has had. I am going to start with the list I got from chat, and we will continue building the list from there. I am going to try and keep this first thread up to date with everything suggested. Ulysses (James Joyce) (A monster of a book. It'll take you months to even understand part of it if you're a normal person, but it's worth it. I think.)

Keys to the Kingdom (Garth Nix) (A refreshing read after the heavy tomes and incunabula above. Might be a little childish though.)
His Dark Materials (Philip Pullman) (This is most enchanting. But if you're religious, especially if you're a Christian, some content may offend you. Especially the death of 'God'.)
Chronicles of Narnia (C.S. Lewis) (Need I say any more? I especially like the concept of the Shadowlands - pretty much Plato's Cave. I'm looking at you, Razkar! The Republic!)
Books of the Cthulhu Mythos (Read the ones by Lovecraft first.)

Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth (Graphic Novel)
