I thoroughly enjoyed this thread for many reasons. One of my favorites was the fact that, once I started reading, I couldn't stop! And the description that went into the disease that the forest had, I could taste the stench of the sickness on the air! Another interesting note was the continuation of Tinnok's remembrance of Svan, Svan being not only a figure in Tinnok's past but also another player. Its common for someone to refer to an NPC as a prominent figure in their past, but its special when that figure is another player. This thread is built of long, meaningful, pleasantly descriptive posts from both parties involved. And what an ending, leaving us with a long-term cliffhanger that makes us want, nay NEED to know how this all turns out. Fan-freakin-tastic job you two!

When I read A Game of Scales I knew very little about Falyndar or the roleplay that took place there. What I do know is that my browser took me to the end, where Mamoru and Tinnok talked favors, and knew I had to find out how it got there.
When I looked back over the thread I found that I wasn't disappointed. Mamoru hits a shudderingly creepy nerve from the moment he comes into view, and gives me new appreciation for how a malevolent Trickster might ply their art. It was one of my first times seeing hypnotism actually used and I'll say I'm impressed with how both sides of this thread handled it, with Mamoru suggesting without commanding and Tinnok allowing it to warp the way she sees the world.
The end though, that was a real treat. It was a sort of stomach-lurching turn of plot that could very work great and permanent change over the characters. All too often we see the players surrender to the status quo, fighting monsters and having adventures without actually changing their characters. This thread to me is an example of how that can be avoided, about how change in a character's life can be spontaneous and dramatic, if the players are brave and willing to take that step. Which you both are.
Congratulations again on the featured thread you two. You've earned it.
