[The Anthonius Fighter's Pit] Flux lesson (Rachel)

3rd of Summer 514 AV

Nivel wondered in her usual manner around the city, She felt that not having a destination in mind was the best way to experience new things. She played little games as she drifted through the city, Like don't step on the crack or pretend the floor is made of lava. The pycon had the most fun with the lava game, because of her small size she had to be creative and agile to keep herself off the ground. She had managed to get herself hanging from an empty clothes line that hung from between to clothing stores and was slowly making herself across it by alternating the grip on the rope with each of her clay hands. It was a great strain on her limbs but it was excellent strength training, even if she did feel like her arms would fall off.

While she continued her way along the rope she could see a clearing surrounded by a circular brick wall. In it she saw people sparing with weapons much like they do in the training grounds reserved for knights. She became curious as to whether they were part of Order of if they were just doing it for fun. Nivel wasn't sure she wanted to participate but she was willing to watch at least until something more interesting came along.

Nivel's hadn't made it very far along the rope but her poor arms couldn't endure anymore. She looked down and once she got past the slight vertigo from the height, she was able to spot a cart full of cloth below that she was sure was safe to jump into. She agonizingly continued down the rope until she had lined up with the cart and then let herself fall.

Slamming down into the cart with a crash that startled those around her, Nivel was surprised at how rough her landing was. She got down from the cart and gave it a quick glace, which to the Pycons relief had no noticeable damages. Nivel felt a little sore but nothing that couldn't be fixed with a good run. Forgetting her previous games, She ran with all her might to were she believed was the place she spotted. She was still slow as a snail but she was enjoying herself and that was all that really mattered to the Pycon.

Arriving at the location, she surveyed the area and revealed in all the exciting sparing matches that were going on. A few individuals caught her attention, they were doing some hand gestures that Nivel recognized right away as a means of focusing ones Djed for the purpose of preforming Flux magic. The Pycon was surprised at their openness with these techniques, she was still a little fearful of practising flux magic in public and envied their courage. She none the less tried to emulate the gestures she was seeing hoping no one would notice her. There was one gesture she just couldn't get right no matter how much she saw the others do it. It didn't seem too complex but every time she preformed it, it didn't feel right.

[The Anthonius Fighter's Pit] Flux lesson (Rachel)

It was another good day in early Summer, the heat was beginning to rise as Spring abdicated its reign until next year, but leftover cool winds could still be felt, it would be over soon though for heat would sit on top of its throne in the next few months. Because of that, the combat instructor named Rachel Messer, was not wearing her half-plate armor, to familiarize herself without her armor weighing down and to avoid cooking inside her it. The instructor was wearing her usual blue tunic combined with matching pants, a blunted longsword on her right hand and a buckler shield on her left. She was still inept in using the defensive weapon but in hope of realizing her dreams to be a knight, Rachel couldn't rely on her sword forever.

Huffing as she examined the Pits, people were training here and there, with or without various weapons, and a pair of combatants caught her green eyes. They were using... Is it Flux?, It looked to be it indeed, the two martial combatants were making hand gestures and incantations as they unleashed fast punches, faster that how even a 'normal' warrior should be able to do. "Hmmm..." The instructor put her left hand to her chin, so they were not afraid in using magic in public, well... granted, it was not that visible to the common populace, unlike throwing fireballs willy-nilly. Only fellow practitioners or someone knowledgeable about Flux could see it, at least that was what the instructor knew.

Another peculiar sight appeared before her though, the movements of... a humanoid-shaped clay figure on the ground, near the martial combatants, mimicking their movements. A Pycon? Ah, she could see it. She had met one of them before, a squire named "Ball", her brother's friend it seemed, perhaps this fellow Pycon knew him? From what she knew, they were a curious sort and always want to know more. Smiling at the figure's adorableness, Rachel strutted over to her then knelt beside the Pycon, "Hello there, first time in the Pits?" Rachel didn't recognize her so she assumed such, "This is where the people train in combat arts, I am Rachel Messer, one of the instructors here." She gestured to herself then smiled, "If you are interested in training how to use the longsword, I can provide you that, just for a fee of five gold mizas per session." Rachel supposed teaching a Pycon could be an interesting experience for her. To be a good instructor, one must be able to teach all races, not just humans.

[The Anthonius Fighter's Pit] Flux lesson (Rachel)

Deep in concentration, Nivel failed to notice the approaching giant until her bellowing voice came from the sky. The tiny squire spun around quickly, like a child caught in the act of stealing a cookie form the jar. After hesitantly glancing up at the giant, Nivel could tell from its voice that it was Female, she could also tell from her armour that she was a Warrior. The young Squire was on guard, fearing the judgement of this mysterious metal clad Warrior women. Nivel couldn't sense any hostility in the voice, only the curious tone of one that wanted to make small talk. She told herself to stop breathing so harshly so that she could make a response, When it complied she transformed into her usual happy go lucky self.

“whew..you scared me” She replied in mild jest “My Name is Nivel and yes this is my first time here.” A loud grunt came from the area that pulled her attention back to the pit, the speed of the flux users was mesmerizing. Nivel only hoped that she could attain their level of skill in her short life span. Her attention was taken again by the equally awe inspiring moves for the sword fighters. They could swing around metal objects ten times the size of her with surprising ease. The Weapons were rusty, bent and dull from over use but this was not something the pycon would have any knowledge about. She was only interested in looking at the art of sword play, Nivel's true focus was magic. Although... it sometimes it doesn't hurt to broaden ones horizons a bit...

Realizing her focus had drifted away before she finished responding to Rachel, she jolted herself back to the task at hand.
“Very sorry...It's nice to meet you Rachel Messer!” Apologized Nivel “I would very much like a lesson...”
Nivel gave an unintentional and unvocalized “but” with the trailing off of her speech. She still wasn't sure she wanted to use a sword, She would have rather substitute Flux, Auristics...or even Pyken for Sword training. Then it came to her like a meteor crashing into a mountain, She could shape one of her limbs into a sword! The fact that her small clay ligaments would make for terrible swords didn't even enter her Nexis, Nivel was convinced this was genius at work.
“Buuut oooonly if I could use my own swords!” Nivel Stated this proudly as she thrust her arm up and it slowly shifted into something resembling a pointy sword. It was a bit hard to maintain this shape but Nivel was certain it would make a great exercise in control.

"Ah, well met, Miss Nivel," Rachel gave a polite nod at the small clay figure, Nivel was an excited and spirited sort, Rachel liked that, she smiled warmly at the Pycon, giving a jesting apology, "Forgive me, I shall call you next time, Miss." Rachel then stood up, but she kept her gaze down onto the small Pycon.

"Wonderful!" She shared the Pycon's excitement, this was a rare chance indeed, teaching a Pycon, Rachel could share the story to her grandchildren... if she ever got married. One might find it odd, but the instructor had a peculiar insecurity of not having a husband even until she grew old and decrepit, twenty one years into her life and she haven't found anyone special... yet.

She was too engrossed in her teaching and combat arts. Wait, there was Markus, the Knight, whom she shared her love with... in the Hotsprings, Rachel's cheeks went flushed as she remembered the carnal session of lust with Markus. That was it, perhaps he was the one, she just needed to toughen herself and directly ask him, they were both warriors, he would appreciate her bravery. She wanted to make it official, but Rachel had this feeling that Markus already had someone, he was a romantic man, yes and quite open-minded regarding relationships while Rachel was far more reserved, she only wanted one lover for life.

Rachel shook her head to break out of her thoughts, right now, she had an exciting teaching lesson with Nivel. When the instructor looked back down, the Pycon was already forming a rough shape of a pointy stick with what used to be her hand. The Pycon's natural ability to morph, truly like clay, "Ah, of course, of course!" Rachel nodded as she motioned for them to walk together, to her usual teaching spot.

"You may use your 'sword', Miss, now then, shall we begin the lesson?" If Nivel confirmed her, Rachel would gesture to her advanced sturdy training dummy, "Go do some practice swings at that dummy over there, I want to assess your combat ability first. I think the technique would be similar, you are technically using a 'sword' after all." Rachel was interested to see what kind of moves Nivel could perform on the dummy, Pycons were small, but they fast, strong, and flexible, one should never underestimate them because of their size.

In the back of her mind, Rachel mused over the idea of teaching Flux, but... she didn't know anything about Nivel's ability and Flux was risky if performed incorrectly so it would be for later, she had to see the Pycon's level of prowess first.

[The Anthonius Fighter's Pit] Flux lesson (Rachel)

Postby Nivel on July 1st, 2014, 6:34 am

Nivel fed off the positive attitude Rachel was returning to her, it seemed like far to many people were too serious in Syliras. Nivel liked all kinds of people especially those that were different in some way to her but it was nice to find other high spirited people. This women even day dreamed like Nivel often did, At least that's what nivel assumed Rachel was doing while she was spacing out. The young squire wondered what this Tall Folk was thinking about if she was indeed day dreaming. What ever it was it seemed like a good one, the ones that usually involve adorable animals and large mounds of clay.

“yay!” Nivel cheered while thrusting her hand sword up again “let's start!” she nodded firmly to show that she understood what was asked of her and then ran over to the dummy eagerly. The dummy was one clearly made for a Tall Folk so it understandably towered over her, This would add to the challenge but certainly not make it impossible. In her short life she had only fought one Tall Folk the squire Bitt, she remembered spending most of the fight whipping his ankles but she wanted to try something different this time. Nivel stretched her already thin legs and torso to give her some height, she could already feel herself loosing stability so she made her tail into a temporary leg. As she grew she shifted the bulk of her wings into her three legs to give her even more height. She only just barely made it up to the waist of the dummy, but it would have to do.

With all the shifting she had done with her body just to gain a suitable height it was all the more difficult to keep her hand in the form of sword. Nivel's sword now looked more like a club but she though if she moved it fast enough that Rachel wouldn't notice. The Pycon slashed at the dummy with her small makeshift sword like she had seen her mother do. Nivel's mother had bat wings instead of arms and so most of her attacks were like smooth but vicious wing flaps. It didn't seem that different than how the other sword fighters were using there swords, at least not to much. Nivel did have her teetering body to contend with, which made it hard for her to get the desired amount of power. Despite this at least one of her attacks looked like it might do some damage, even if it would only be minor.

After a few awkward “slashes” at the dummy she couldn't take the strain of keeping her self aloft and carefully lowered herself back to her usual height. She then turned to her instructor and asked if she was doing okay. Nivel was often considered to be oblivious but even she wasn't sure she was doing a very good job and was hoping for a bit of advice on how to improve her technique.
