Drunken endeavors [Airil]

Postby Markus Andres on October 18th, 2010, 3:11 am

Fall 25th evening. 510 AV.

Markus K. Andres was having a blast. He stumbled out from the Rearing Stallion, where he had just been drinking himself into a good mood again. Ever since that pesky Airil business, he had been in a sour mood. But alcohol, man's best friend, he wasn't thinking about that. Instead, his thoughts were unrelated. They formed a long string of broken ideas and what not as he stumbled down the street. He wasn't sure where he was heading. To his room probably. He changed side of the street suddenly. Swerving to keep his balance, he found his shoulder hitting the hard wall and he didn't groan in pain, for he had a thick layer of alcohol protecting him from harm.

He grumbled and mumbled something about getting even when the sun was up. It made no sense and he soon forgot about it, or did he? He wasn't sure. It didn't matter. It seemed to have mattered? Had it not? Yes it had. Markus suddenly stopped walking. Stood still. Turned around and looked up the street. Saw nothing. Or no one for that matter. But then again, everything was a blur. He turned back around. Got dizzy from the turning and stumbled a little again. Stopped his own stumbling, miraculously without falling. He continued to stumble down the street, keeping a hand on the wall for support as he walked. More than once he slammed into the wall when his arm gave away. It was one of those times where he thought his arm gave away, that Markus simply stumbled sideways into an alley. Markus, who was too drunk to figure out how to stop, kept accelerating to save himself, until his feet simply said: STOP!

Markus tumbled sideways into a wall. He fell to the ground, in a halfway sitting position against the wall. It felt mighty comfortable up against that wall. Perhaps he could sleep there for a litt-zzz ZZZ zzz ZZZ.

Drunken endeavors [Airil]

Postby Airil on October 18th, 2010, 3:34 am

Airil could have sworn it had still been light out when she'd entered the bazaar in search of something, and she hadn't thought she had spent that much time there, yet when she it had been dark out when she had emerged onto the streets again. She hurried along the streets, hoping that she would still recognize the correct turns in the dark.

She poked her head around a corner to scan down the next street and was reassured by the sight of the sign for the Rearing Stallion. She was on the right path. She remained where she was, however, when she spotted a figure, staggering up the street in her direction. A drunk perhaps? There was something awfully familiar about them, she squinted in an effort to make out details. Unfortunately, the figure seemed to topple into an opening in the wall he'd been leaning on in that moment.

Airil crept forward to find that the opening he'd fallen through was an alley, and in that alley was Markus. A thrill of fear ran through her, was he hurt? She approached quickly, dropping to her knees beside the man. A whiff of alcohol struck her nose. No, he was indeed drunk. She hadn't thought he would be the type. Drunk or not, she couldn't let him sleep in an alley overnight. She gently put a hand on his shoulder and shook him.

Drunken endeavors [Airil]

Postby Markus Andres on October 18th, 2010, 3:54 am

Markus was having a dreamless slumber. For the short duration it laster, that was, for some individual was pestering Markus. Shaking his shoulder and he mumbled something that made no sense or was even audible enough for people to hear it unless they had super hearing. But the girl shook is shoulder and he swatted out with his arm to knock the hand away. Markus didn't realize where he was lying, he had only been asleep for a matter of seconds or something like that before this mean soul disturbed his slumber.Unfortunately for Markus, that was the arm that had held his balance in check, so as it swatted out, Markus slid sideways down the wall until he was lying directly on the hard cobble stone street.

"Gho bodder som-els. Hhhh." - Thud.

It didn't hurt, because he simply didn't have any conscious present (or sober) to acknowledge that it hurt. He was indeed lying mighty comfortably on the cobble stone. If only he could be left alone to sleep. Things would be so much better and easier and zzz-ZZZ-zzz-ZZZ-zzz. "Huh wha whu?-zzz" Markus returned to his nice and easy slumber.

Airil frowned down at Markus after he slid onto his side. She wasn't sure what she should do. He was too heavy for her to do anything about, and it seemed he was too far gone from the alcohol to wake up. She looked back down the alley, wondering if she should seek some help but shook her head. She didn't want to approach some stranger on the street after dark.

She moved around in front of him and shook him again, calling his name. What if he didn't wake up? Would she just leave him there? Was this even a good idea, waking him up while he was drunk? They hadn't exactly parted on the best of terms, what if he got angry when he saw her?

She chewed on her lip, concern painting her face. Whatever mood he might wake up in, she wasn't just going to leave him laying on the ground like this. She stood up, wrapped her hands under his arm and started trying to pull him back up.

"You need to wake up."

Drunken endeavors [Airil]

Postby Markus Andres on October 18th, 2010, 4:25 am

Another couple of seconds of sleep and Markus was getting annoyed, this person's persistence annoyed him. He just wanted to sleep. Why wouldn't this person let him sleep. He slowly opened his eyes when the person tried to pull him up. A whole new level of being annoyed. Shaking someone was one thing, you could ignore that for some time, but someone trying to pull you up, that was a lot harder to ignore. He looked to the side where the girl was under his arm. The first thing that went through Markus' mind, was 'cool'. The next thing ... Nevermind. She talked to him and Markus thought he could recognize the voice. It sent a small amount of clarity into his brain. He tried to push himself up, which of course resulted in him hitting the ground again. Hard. But the second attempt would probably suc- nope, he hit the ground again. Third time the charm, and indeed Markus managed to push himself up into a standing position. This wasn't because of the girl, no rather, he was trying to find a new place he could sleep. Somewhere he wouldn't be disturbed by the first random person who passed him by.

"Ai'hm errrrr oup" His slurred speech came out. Of course his desire to find a new place to sleep had been forgotten during the struggle to get up. So he stood there, trying to keep his balance, wondering where that hot girl had wandered off to. Had there even been a hot girl? Markus was confused. And tired. And very. Very drunk. He didn't even realize that the only reason he was still standing, was because of the Konti under his arm. Supporting enough of his weight to keep his balance steady.

It took a few tries but finally Markus was on his feet. He was leaning rather heavily on her and she very nearly collapsed under the weight. The thing was, now that she had him standing, she wasn't sure what to do with him. He clearly was too incoherent to direct her to his room. In fact, she wasn't even sure he was aware of who she was. For the moment, that was probably for the better.

She looked back down the alley. There was really only one thing that she could think to do with him. She made sure his arm was tucked around her shoulder, while her arm wrapped across his back, and started to steer him back towards the street. If he didn't follow her lead, they would undoubtedly end up back on the ground, something she really wanted to avoid.

The street grew closer, if at a slow rate. She wondered if she'd ever manage to get him back to Traveler's Row. By the time they reached the mouth of the alley, she already needed to stop and rest. She was a little surprised that they made it that far unscathed.

Markus began to walk toward the street again, aided a lot by the girl. Whoever she was. A kind soul? Who had bothered him in his rest, but a kind soul still. Good to have strangers who were nice to one. Markus had a childlike happy look on his face. As he somehow managed to reach the street when what he was being supported by, stopped. The sudden stop caused havoc in Markus' sense of balance and he fell forward. He took a step forward and managed to save himself. He spun on his heels and tumbled backwards where his back hit the wall. The sudden thing made him open his eyes again and look at the girl. He couldn't really make out her appearance in the dark and his sight was too blurry as well.

"Arn't che a darlings"

Markus said as he reached out to stroke her cheek, but instead, he patted her on the shoulder. Of course, he patted her a little harder than he normally would have, for alcohol gave strength and courage. And charms! Markus pushed away from the wall, stood a little uneasy for a second or two before he smiled and walked out on to the street. Where he would look from side ot side wondering where to go, then he would turn around to look at the girl, if she hadn't been a figment of his imagination.

Stopping seemed to have been a bad idea. Markus nearly toppled forward, taking her with him, but he managed to save himself. Airil wasn't quite so lucky, the sudden shift in weight forced into one of the walls of the alley. She managed to catch herself but felt a sharp pain in her right wrist as it bent into an unnatural position. She used her other hand to push herself away from the wall and turned to see where Markus had landed, finding him leaning against the other wall.

He opened his eyes and looked at her, looking quite happy.

"Arn't che a darlings" and he patted her on the shoulder, forcing her to stagger a little, before he pushed himself off the wall and walked into the street in an amazingly straight line for someone who seemed as drunk as he did. She sighed and followed him into the streetlight. She watched him to see what he'd do next, massaging her hurt wrist while she waited.

“Are you feeling better then?”

Drunken endeavors [Airil]

Postby Markus Andres on October 19th, 2010, 2:47 am

Markus looked at the girl, she was no figment of his imagination, or could his imagination also talk to him? He did not know. He just stepped toward her with a big smile on his lips. Or what resembled a big smile.

" 'F cus ai'm felt bets" He said as he took a step forward, misjudged the distance, stumbled forward slamming in the edge of the corner wall between the street and the alley. Markus hit it head first and his hands shot up to his forehead. It was instincts. When he saw his hands again, he saw blood. Not a lot of blood, but still, he was bleeding. He stumbled over to the girl, miraculously stopping just before her. He would reach out and place his arm around her shoulder.

Markus said something no one could understand, the only word that was decipherable, was the word "tired" the rest was slurred and just didn't make any sense. He put his head down on her shoulder. Almost falling asleep there.

Drunken endeavors [Airil]

Airil had no idea what Markus was saying, his words were far too slurred to be understandable.

"I'm sorry.. I don't understand." She was feeling worried about how this may go, he seemed unpredictable. She stepped back as he stepped forward, though it was unnecessary as he went face first into the wall, eliciting a sound of surprise from Airil. She moved towards him, instinctively wanting to help, though she stopped just short of touching him.

When he turned towards her, she moved to support him, letting him put his arm around her shoulder. She could see and smell the blood on him and it made her stomach turn but she did her best to push the feeling of nausea back down.

"You can sleep, but you have to help me first." She started steering him again, putting all her effort into keeping him upright. She still wasn't sure they'd make it down the street, let alone to the Row, but she was still going to try.
