Phaylix watched in awe as the two flew out the door. He rushed out to stop Recluse from killing the street tough, knowing good and well she'd be executed before morning fell, either by the tough or the Order. But, the Pycon had rushed out first, yelling in the name of Sylir to relinquish her grip on the blade. Phaylix knew he was right. He couldn't allow her to kill the man, and he couldn't allow he man to kill his only love interest.

He let that thought rumble around his mind as he stepped out into the cold night air, watching as the Pycon flew a clenched fist at the Symenestra's calf. She got from atop the man, clenching her self.

"Ow! I wasn't gonna kill the bastard-"

But, before she could spit an answer out, the man flew a haphazarded punch at her jaw. It barely connected, but it was enough to send her back a few feet. She groaned in pain as she slid, clenching her bruised jaw. Then, the bear-like man sent a well-placed, neater kick at the squirrel.

"Oi, ya' little rat petcher. I'll petching kill you!"

The man simply squared up for a tussle, looking at the squirrel and the Assassin in contempt. He knew he could take both of them, no problem..

"You've petched with the wrong person, Squire." the lone tough said.

Shyke. Phaylix had no non-lethal weapons, besides the blowgun in the confines of his cloak. But, all the darts were poisonous. Petch it.

He pulls the thick wooden tube from his cloak, brandishing it as a blunt object. He assessed the situation. The one with the most skill, at least between the Assassins, was currently dispatched. And the other... was a squirrel.

But, he was sure he could handle himself. They wouldn't induct someone of his stature into the Knights if he couldn't fight, right?

Right?

He prepared to fight the thug, the brigand, all while being prepared to take Recluse and bolt. This was going to painful...

"My Speaking" My Thoughts

Ball was given a simple task today, patrol the district around the Rearing Stallion, it wasn’t a great task, but it was a knightly task… And one Ball knew he needed to understand how to handle. Sadly he couldn’t pry any information out of the knights on what to do if something did come up, so he instead found himself mounting up his poor dog Imass, hanging the horribly short poker of a weapon known as his rapier off to the left of the dog’s neck, close to his hand. The weapon though was mostly for show, as Ball really didn’t need it, but he could use it… Some. Never knew when the point would come in handy.

It was then that Ball and Imass were strolling through the district, watching out for signs of problems – unnecessary fighting, roughhousing… That blasted ring. Yet what he came upon was a man throwing a pretty wicked haymaker at some scrawny woman armed with a blade and a man wearing a cloak and pulling something out. Ball didn’t take in the sight of the Squirrel Pycon quite yet, but that would come in due time… Right now, Ball saw an issue and sprang into action.

Forcing the furry lhasa apso into a hell-bent run at the trio engaged in combat, Ball shifted his body so he stood in a crouch, each bouncing bound of Imass’ tightened up Ball’s internal clay, therefore corkscrewing it and sealing in large amounts of potential energy, his left hand slide the rapier close to his being, fingers clasping the hilt tightly as he watched his two targets. The woman seemed to be pretty evenly matched even though she stood shorter and was far skinner than the man that was attacking her.

Ball’s target though wasn’t the bearlike man or the scrawny cloaked woman… it was the man with the concealed weapon, Ball was not just any little three inch pycon… He was Ball – And Ball didn’t take out the element of surprise. When he closed the gap between him and his eventual target Ball pushed off of his dog’s back, which caused the poor dog to whimper loudly and shift to run towards the bearlike man. This would alert the combatants, but there was no chance for the cloaked man to dodge at this moment in time as Ball’s rapier came up in an arch, released at the point where it would serve as a decoy and the pyken artist unloaded the potential energy within his body at the pinnacle of his jump.

This release of potential energy made it kinetic energy, and kinetic energy was what the laws of inertia worked on… What is in motion, stays in motion… And Ball was rocketing hard towards the cloaked man, the target of connection was simple, the man had an arm reaching into his cloak, the material was pressed against his body in such a fashion that Ball could see the man’s elbow creasing as he reached… It was that elbow that Ball was aiming for, and his three inch body was closing a foot in a half upward gap in less than a tick. So the resulting impact would cause some serious bodily harm to the man.

If the man somehow managed to pull his arm out from the cloak in time, Ball would still be colliding with the man’s side, and that just wouldn’t do well for the man.

Graders Please Note :
As Ball is getting closer and closer to maxing out Pyken as a skill, I would like to request that in places where Ball is not doing enough to constitute Pyken XP if Pyken technique lores could be issued instead.

Examples of proper XP level for Pyken would be: Ball developing or refining his technique by adding new thing against an actual moving target, not a dummy.

The use of basic skills alone are not enough to accomplish XP at Ball's current level of Pyken.

Thank you.

I will be handling all Ball related posts on Mondays @ 1800 my time *

[Archailist] Attack of the Brigands

My Words | Your Words | My Thoughts

To say that he wasn't pleased didn't even come close. "Oh, sure.. you're going to pull out a freaking knife, hold it to his throat.. but you're not going to kill him. Why would I think that?!" To be completely honest, he was wondering what he was going to do. Perhaps he could wait for the knights to arrive.. which were still struggling through the narrow door frame and out into the open of the 'street'. Then again, he couldn't just stand by while weapons were drawn and a simple argument escalated into a potential murder scene. As much as the girl and her friend wanted to help.. both of them were just making things much, much worse.

Watching the girl fly back, the squirrel easily hopped to the side of the neater kick and launched another punch right for the ankle inches from his face, throwing a good deal of force behind it in the hopes of throwing the guy off his feet before he tried another attack. Shyke knew that the Pycon was much more angry than he was concerned for his safety. At the threats, he turned his head back and nearly spat at him, until he realized a lack of saliva would have made such things impossible. "By all means, go ahead. I'll toss you into the Tank myself after you've tried." Another punch thrown for the back of the ankle, just for spite; likely the same thing he'd try on Phaylix afterwards.

"Now shut the petch up and SIT DOWN!" he finished off before turning to Phaylix and pointing a finger at his face. "You--" That was as far as he got before Hai's gates opened. There was only one other lump of clay in the entire castle Arch knew that wouldn't hesitate to throw itself right at someone, instead of act like a normal person. All attempts at trying for common sense, peace, rationality.. all of them vanished into thin air. Instead, all he could really do was stand there.. stuck between three hot-heads and Ball. Fan-freaking-tastic..

"Sometimes, I wonder why I bother, you know." He didn't know who he was talking to, but he was pretty sure he'd get an answer in a few ticks. A street-brawl escalating so quickly grabbed attention like fire to the eyes of a fly; soon enough they were practically surrounded by the sparse off-duty knights that sat in the Rearing Stallion lead by Kevith. They couldn't separate Ball and Phaylix because.. well, they couldn't grab Ball and not many of them even wanted to, but they could make a grab for the drunken lout that'd started it all, along with Phaylix and his Symnestran accomplice.

It was the least he could do to turn to Kevith with a rather sheepish smile. ".. I can't begin to tell you how terribly sorry I am for all of this..."

[Archailist] Attack of the Brigands

"Squire..." Kevith sighed as he shook his grizzled head from side to side. "I don't think it's me who needs sympathy in the next couple of ticks."

Then he stepped aside and five, fully armored knights emerged from the Rearing Stallion's dead silent confines. At the very front was none other than Archailist's own patron, Ser Iros. Except, unluckily for both squires and civilians, it was Ser Iro's dark brother, Eylin, who currently led the squadron into the fray. His bulk towered over the others and one, powerful hand rested on the hilt of his deadly Lakan. It was neither his stature nor weapon, however, that drew the most fear, but the merciless expression on his face that brought a dreaded hush all around. There was no denying the gravity that their situation now weighed beneath.

"Halt." The authority in his voice was unwavering, unquestionable. All four knights who stood behind him were as silent as they were vigilant. "The next person to move will be executed without trial."

Ser Eylin stepped forward to look down upon the two Pycon squires.

"Squire Archailist. Squire Ball. According to Syliran law, anyone who has been threatened or harassed should report such behavior to the knights rather then take matters into their own hands. You have both transgressed. It is inexcusable and has set a poor example at that."

The knight waved two fingers forward. "I want one on the drunk and two on the civilians. Ser Ivan, if you would be so kind as to separate Squire Ball from the civilian. I will escort Squire Archailist myself. Everyone on me and back in position when all parties have been detained."

Without hesitance, the rest of the squadron slid forth into action with practiced grace and efficiency. Dogs, humans, and Pycons alike were neatly disengaged and detained in an orderly fashion. The drunk knew what he had coming and hung his head low without resistance. A nice, long stretch of manual labor ought to sober him up quickly enough. One knight detained Recluse, another Phaylix, and Ser Ivan himself, who was usually lenient and of good cheer, wore a mask of stoic seriousness as he pulled Ball off of his target and placed him firmly on the ground.

As his orders were being fulfilled, Ser Eylin turned to Kevith with an apologetic expression. "I hope they have not caused you too much trouble, old friend."

The tavern keeper shook his head. "It was turning into a bit of mess, no doubt about that. But 'twas no serious trouble to me. Just make sure they learn their lesson, and remind the young laddie there that no barmaids or customers of mine are whores." The Akalak glanced over and saw Kevith was squinting straight at the boy named Phaylix Whitevine. "And I so much as see a trouble maker I make sure he's tossed out on his arse. No questions asked," Old Kevith hurumphed in his usual, gruff manner. "Youngin's these days..."

Ser Eylin nodded in assent. No trace of humor was to be found in his severe features.

"I will make sure this is seen to, Kevith. Down to the letter."

It was a matter of chimes before his orders had been completed. All parties present were then shepherded into a triangle formation, with Ser Eylin back in the lead. The knight said nothing once they were ready. He merely clicked his heels and set off at a steady pace straight for the Tank. The rest of the squad followed in perfect succession, charges in tow.

As soon as they reached the Tank, one of the knights was dispatched to toss the drunk in. Meanwhile, Ser Eylin turned sharply to face his remaining detainees.

"You two civilians are to be held in the Tank indefinitely. As of right now, it is not for the purpose of awaiting trial. You will informed of the purpose of your detainment when we have finished preparations."

There were no further explanations, no other courtesies extended. As for as Ser Eylin was concerned, he had been more than generous enough, having not executed everyone but the squires on sight. With another signal of the hand, the two knights restraining Phaylix and Recluse led both civilians into the confines of the Tank and made sure to lock them in two different cells.

"As for you two," the Akalak growled. "The manner with which you have conducted yourselves--both of you--has been completely out of line. You are squires, not knights. You have neither the privileges nor the authority of a full fledged member of the Order, but you are expected to demonstrate the discipline and values of one nonetheless. This means you do not go fighting or charging at someone in public, and in front of an established business no less. You obey the law. That is an integral part of your duty, as you both very well should know."

He looked at each with mounting disappointment. "You see trouble, you call upon a knight, and only the most dire of circumstances could suggest an exception. In this case, we had nothing on our hands but a hot headed drunk. Therefore you have broken the law, on top of displaying conduct ill fitting of a potential member of the Order, and are both to be punished."

Exchanging a final glance with Ser Ivan, who still wore a somber expression on his normally carefree face, Ser Eylin made his closing statement.

"As a result of today's events, Squire Archailist and Squire Ball are hereby sentenced to stable cleaning duties from now until the end of next Spring, restricted access to taverns lifted only by the presence of another knight, and will lose their squireship should they ever be found misconducting themselves in the name of the Order again."

The Akalak paused for a full, pregnant tick. "You two have escaped the last by the skin of your teeth and the mercy of my good graces. Do I make myself absolutely clear?"

This last question was more rhetorical than anything else. The word of a Knight brooked no argument, much less that of Ser Eylin's. With three new additions to the Tank and matters swiftly taken care of, the squires were ordered to remain in their personal quarters for the rest of the day to reflect on their mistakes. After which they would report to Windmount Stables at the 7th bell sharp everyday, rain or shine, until the end of Spring 515AV. Meanwhile, Phaylix and Recluse remained locked in their respective cells until further notice.
