Spring Registry and Calendar Spring 515 AV As the watchtowers change in a brilliant flash from blue to green, the season of spring is upon us! The seasons, however, are not the only thing changing in the city of illusions...
Alchae No More - 1 Spring 515 AV A massive explosion in the Alchemy Alchea decimates a good block of the city. Note: The block area that is destroyed in the blast disappears for the duration of the season. Toil and Trouble All magic shops, establishments, and blatant uses of such practices are shut down and addressed by the Speakers - if ignored, the Silencers are not hesitant to pay visits to a select few defiant individuals. Frozen water? All liquids have been crystallized as well! Streams and ponds are filled with varying sizes of gem-like bits of glass, but don't worry: pop some in your mouth and they're very much water. Water flasks are relatively obsolete during this time. Side note: The water is glass, not ice - though it might appear as such, it is not any more cold than the water it embodies. Note: Colors are arbitrary, though different colors may have different tastes Fruit or Fraud? Fruit trees have sprung up around the area (glass, of course). These arboreal visitors carry with them a wide array of fruits. Go ahead, try one! Some of them will transfer the glass illusion to those who ingest them, while others... Well, they're glass. What did you expect? Do be careful though! Glass has a way of letting people see through into what's hidden behind it. Mirror, Mirror - 25 to 30 Spring 515 AV The reflections in the House of Broken Mirrors seem to be missing! They're not, of course, because they're running round the streets willy nilly. How often do you get to look into a reflective surface to find mirror you dancing with the secret love of your life or fighting to the death with your most hated secret enemy. Portents? Perhaps!
Captain, My Captain - 7 Spring 515 AV The first day of the festival starts with the christening of The Mischief, Alvadas' newly arrived mizaharian trading ship. Captain Eudora Cathcart delivers a short speech to commemorate the event, after which the festivities begin in the full force. Over the course of the festival, citizens and visitors alike are invited to leave their respective marks, whatever that may entail. Note: Violent or destructive acts taken against the ship will be treated as violent acts against the city! Hide and Seek As always, the citizens search for the legendary trickster itself! Many a wild ploy is carried through in an attempt to find the elusive and playful god/dess, and the citizens are at their sharpest when it comes to illusions. Note: Ionu requires DS+ ST moderation, but please feel free to go wild with your investigations! So You Think You Can... There are more ways than trying to sniff out the master of illusion; one of them being getting it to sniff you out! Competitions for every imaginable (and some unimaginable) craft are held citywide. Prizes range from bragging rights to dates to books that can only be read under the moonlit sky! From drawing or fist fighting to crafting cuisine or trick shots with a bow and whatever you might fire, the Alvads celebrate the misdirect in its every aspect! Grader's Note: Prizes will be assigned by an ST, or with ST approval. An Anticlimax - 14 Spring 515 AV For the first time, the Inverted do not return to perform for their city of illusion. Instead, an open stage is held for all the performers of the city. While not quite the ending the city hoped for, the festival ends with much merrymaking and sharing of illusions, crafts, and skills. Note: Any performing/creative skill from competent above will be well received (with that reception increasing exponentially will skill level), novices will be enjoyed as well, though more for their lack of ability.
Duck! The rain isn't the only thing that arrives with the stormy clouds. Ducks of every shape, size, and implausibility start to fill the streets. There are white ducks, brown ducks, ducks with green heads, ducks with three heads, ducks with Zith wings, ducks with human legs, and so many many more. While no one is quite sure when or why, it turns out the ducks make a plethora of surprising dishes: duck soup that tastes like strawberries, duck roast that is quite certainly a hearty loaf of bread and cheese, even pickled duck feet that give your nose a more beakish tilt for a few bells. Note: The ducks make terrible pets. If brought inside, they seem to go a bit batty: smashing, crashing, and all around decimating anything they can get their little (or big) duck bodies on. Float On If you happen to be one of the lucky citizens to own a floating house or need to get to a floating establishment: good luck! These houses and buildings have become even more difficult to find, and it wouldn't be surprising if you were the only person in a shop for the past few days. Gone Fishing While the Charoda and other denizens of Little Charbosi are not uncommon within the city, during the flood, it's almost as likely to bump into a human as a Charoda! Make a new friend, lover, or enemy with one of a more aquatic disposition, and maybe you'll find they're not just a trick of the light.
Sink, Sank, Sunk - 75 Spring 515 AV Some buildings have completely disappeared, and there are reports of people missing as well. By this point, the streets have neared the consistency of very sticky mud: move quick or sink quicker! Note: If you would like to sink all the way, please PM me for a prompt! My Way or the Skyway - 76 to 90 Spring 515 AV A group of Symenestra entrepreneurs have set up sturdy rope ladders between the trees for easier travel about the city, and they are charging 1 CM per use! Peekaboo! - 87 to 90 Spring 515 AV The buildings and people have started to reappear. Those who had been missing don't remember much from where they were, though some adamantly state they were having tea and biscuits with Ionu. The streets have also begun to harden back up, and are easily traversable from this point on, though some people still find the Skyway to be a more entertaining form of travel.
