Sahova Development Thread

Postby Languish on December 7th, 2016, 3:06 am

The Wizard's Compendium has been edited to better reflect the current standings of the lore. There have been several flora and fauna added, as well as a handful of changes about Gods, Racial views, and Golem types.

I plan to add more information, including a list of poisons and drugs, factions within the Citadel, and a list of helpful lore links.

Is there anything else anyone would like to see clarified or elaborated on? Would anyone be interested in a list of slang/curse words, or perhaps a list of rituals performed for newly turned undead (at a "birth"), death rituals, etc?

Let me know what you'd like to see!

Taeralis

Name:Taeralis
Race: Nuit
DoB: Summer 294av 32nd
PoB: Sahova
Title: Teacher
Skills: Auristics: 45, Reminancy: Fire (30), Water (30), Magecrafting: (35), Glyphing: (25).
Gnosis: 1 Inavalti 1 Lykata
Additional Info:

Appearance:

Six feet tall, Ser Taerelis stands. He has shaggy black hair, quite greasy, as he's tending to a lot of business in Sahova. Dark pupils encased within the outer edges of his eyes. Bags under his eyelids drop, and are quite flabby by the looks of it. Ser Taerilis' abode is quite muscular, but other than that it looks fairly cleaned, let alone facial hair. The Knight wears the Mark of Ukdr proudly, and he likes to talk about them evidently. His new body bears something unique; a scar, below the waist, and tattoos on his hand, markings nonetheless, of Reminancy. That's about it.

History:

Taeralis, a mage born within the slumps of Sunberth, he grew up as decent citizen, raised by both of his parents. His parents scrounged for whatever they could within Sunberth and throughout time, they were working hard each season to pay for the young Taeralis and once Taeralis became older, things changed.

When he was within his younger teenage years, Taeralis' parents were murdered on a hunting expedition, by some "friends" of theirs. Those friends were a little to selfish and greedy and they wanted more money. They were high for the most part, and they stole the money, but they left Taeralis behind and didn't bother with him as he was defenseless, they didn't bother to support him as they ran off with the money into some other city across Mizahar.Taeralis sworn revenge on the men who killed his parents.

During his coping of his parents death, he yearned for a magic teacher, as Taeralis felt more comfortable around the use of magics. Though, it took him a few years to search for a teacher in Sunberth.

He found a mage, by the name of Balwin. He taught him in the arts of Reminancy, Auristics, Magecrafting, and Glyphing. His master wasn't young so to speak. He was quite aged and the older man quickly became ill. Balwin taught Taeralis as much as he could before the old man died and before the apprentice could learn it all, he passed. Balwin died on his death bed, with Taeralis at his side. His death came too quick, and Balwin was examined. It turned out, he was poisoned. Taeralis searched for the murderer, but he couldn't find him, and eventually, he found himself in Sahova.

There, he worked within his office, preparing. Eyris took notice, and she found out that Taeralis liked to learn. He was quite furious when he once he found out that his master has been poisoned. The apprentice assumed that it was one of the slaves that Balwin owned who wanted to avenge his enslavement. Though, Taeralis sent out to search him, but failed, and his body changed into a creature known as a Nuit, and Taeralis managed to return to Sahova and work for the council and train apprentices for many years, while knowing that his killer is still out there somewhere.
---------------------

Concept:

Over the years, Taeralis grew organized and quick. He's quite witty, which sort of covers his quick decision making. Taeralis is quite formal, loyal, and precarious all at the same time. He's curious and mentally stable usually. Overall, he's not too judgmental.

Taeralis' Lab

Image

Description:

Taeralis' laboratory resides underground where all the other labs lie. When one walks in, they would see a long vastly empty hallway apart from the main entrance expanding deep throughout the entire lab. On the most north western portion of the map, lies the kitchen and eating area. Although, most of the table is slightly messy, and covered up by papers, randomly selected items, or just debris, it seems to be unused for quite some time as Nuits don't usually eat. Taeralis' rarely has guests, and takes on a apprentice at a time.

The room on the left of Taeralis' lab, contains the apprentices room, it holds a standard bed, quite dusty nonetheless. A fairly cleaned table, with two chairs organized in front of it, in case the apprentice is staying up late to work on some midnight projects. After entering the lab, to ones right, there is a chest specifically marked for "Coats and Jackets."

Onto the room west of the door, and closest to it, lies the guest bedroom. Either, when Taeralis brings in a guest or two, or if the apprentice has a guest of some sorts. The beds and chests are still there, and the chests can be used for personal belongings.

Moving up, the room North of the guest bedroom lies the Magecrafting unit. Which allows the characters space to work on crafting their items of course. In the middle of the room is a mat, for meditation/weapon training.

Behind the Magecrafting/Glyphing room, there lies a door, marked "Private." It is used as Taeralis' office, if he's busy, you can hear some clinking as he might be putting some materials together and what not, but other than that it's quite, and always closed/locked when he's not there.

My comments on each section are all in red. If you have trouble understanding anything, please let me know.

Additional Info:

Appearance:

Six feet tall, Ser Taerelis stands. He has shaggy black hair, (quite unkempt, as he's tending to a lot of business in Sahova). Dark pupils are encased within the outer edges of his eyes. Bags under his eyelids droop, and are quite flabby by the looks of it. Ser Taerilis' abode is quite muscular, but other than that it looks fairly cleaned, besides facial hair. The Knight wears the Marks of Uldr proudly, and he likes to talk about them evidently. Worship of Uldr is forbidden in the Citadel, and those who do worship him must be very secretive about it. How does he get away with this? He would at least be of very low status, if not exiled or executed for such brash talk. His new body bears something unique; a scar below the waist, and tattoos on his hand, markings of Reimancy.

History:

Original History:

Originally, he was born within the heart of Sahova. The Knight was surely something to become of. What does this mean? He was someone to admire? Someone to beware of? He grew up learning to read and to learn magic, as Sahova is based on magic and learning. Instead of learning combat, Why would he have learned combat, if he grew up in Sahova? Combat skills are rather rare, besides combat magic. he earned the right of becoming a mage and practicing magics in his lab for quite some time.

After his teenage years, he left his home in search of something more. He fell in love, soon after his knighting quest. So, I'm assuming he went to Syliras and got married? Specify that. Though, he and his wife were separated a couple of years later. Maybe add how they were separated? This feels like a gap. Unfortunately, Taeralis, wasn't able to find his love. He died in his original form, during his mid thirties. He was intercepted on his travels on his way home After he died? His body was intercepted on its way to the grave? I don't understand what this means. He must be alive to undergo the Daek-Nuit.

A bandit raid, they've raided Taeralis' caravan as they were just a few days apart. Again, where did this come from? Did they raid his ship, the caravan with his body in it? What's happening? The sudden transformation What transformation? The Daek-Nuit?changed Taeralis, and he wishes to win revenge over the bandits of the Wilderness. Though, things are quite different now, as time passes by, Taeralis reamined home, as a nuit, and doesn't remember much during his time he spent as his true self. Besides the one and only, it's quite distant, but he can recall glimpses of his loved one.

First Body Change:

Taeralis remained within the heart of Sahova and managed to snag another body for his liking. It was perhaps no later than another few years. He worked on his training in magic, and eventually he had to shift into a new body, since the prototype was decaying and people wouldn't want to see that.
I don't think this section is necessary. It doesn't add any extra useful information, and just takes up space.

Concept:

Over the years, Taeralis grew organized and quick. He's quick witted, which sort of relies on his decesion making. He's quite formal, and he plans on making every apprentice he has under his wing strong and well balanced in magic. Why does Taeralis have this motivation to nurture his apprentices? This is a very rare circumstance if he does really wish to make his apprentices powerful. Most wizards would not, as they would be afraid of being usurped, or paranoid about being sabotaged, or killed.
Taeralis is usually busy most of the time, though can be found in his labratotory during the night. What is Taeralis busy with when he isn't in his lab? It doesn't seem that there's any reason for him to be outside his lab, as he isn't a warden or involved with any kind of poison, flora, fauna, metal, or trade research.

Taeralis' Lab

Image

This is a nice layout for the most part, although I would remove the dining area as Nuit do not eat. But what does Taeralis study in his lab? Labs have a title such as Research of Glyphing Morphing Models, or Elements Sanctum, to specify what the owner is trying to research. Nuit are not given a status as Wizard unless they have a project to work on. My recommendations would be something related to research of memories (using Auristics), or perhaps, is he searching for a long-distance combat magic, in order to avenge his wife's death without leaving home?

I made a few formatting changes, as well as correcting a few run-on sentences and spelling errors. I ended up removing the "Guest room", as it felt extraneous with there already being an Apprentice room, and Sahova having very few outside visitors. If you have an argument for keeping it, feel free to present that. I also removed the Inavalti Gnosis, as it wasn't mentioned in the background or concept, and Syna does not have a very large presence on the island. Again, if you have a reason to keep it, let me know.

Otherwise, if everything looks okay, I will pass this on to the big-wigs for final approval.

[tab=Adgerd Crawford ,black,white]
Image
Name: Adgerd Severus Crawford
Race: Human
DoB: 484av Spring 62nd (32)
PoB: Ravok
Title: Wizard
Skills: Shielding (40), Reimancy: 35 (Fire, Air), Shortsword (25), Dualwield (20). Larceny (15), Disguise (10)
Gnosis: 1 Yahal
Additional Info:
Appearance

Stress really had outdone the man considerably. With grey hair by the time he's almost thirty. He had been making sure to stay alive by earning his way through pick pocketing and larceny. Though, grey hair also ran through the family as well.

He has raving grey hair. A small number of wrinkles that line his face. He has a few freckles around his nose, that aren't too noticeable when one looks at him without inspection. Blue as, blue as deep as the Suvan Sea. He's not too muscular either, but he has strength. He carries his two Shortsword at his sides. Which makes it easy for quick reactions.

History:

Adgerd grew up within the darkest corners of Ravok. Though, he was born normally without too much abnormalities. The kid who grew up to become a Wizard of a man, managed to live life to it's fullest. Most of the time. Mr. Crawford was once a new good for nothing troublemaking young boy. He would ruin the days of the Ebonstryfe by bothering them when he was young, he had even attempted to try and steal some of the members blades or pick pocket some money. He's been warned multiple times, but in the end he doesn't listen. So he was rewarded with punishment. He would be tested like a casual hard laboring slave and be used as a tool for torturing techniques.

He would have some broken bones here and there. His father used to work for the Nitrozians, and his father had to take in a lot of crap when Adgerd was getting into trouble. Some of the time, Adgerd would help out with business to earn some extra coin here and there. Though, he mostly avoided the Nitrozians and became friends with young Damien.

Damien and Adgerd grew up as colleagues and nothing more than that. He doesn't have any bonding ties with the young Damien, but nevertheless he'll make exceptions. Though, within a small amount of time, Adgerd Crawford left Ravok in search of something more to do with himself. Mr. Crawford traveled to Sahova after hearing about magic and it's massive abundance of Djed. He was merely taken by the city of magic and henceforth decided to live there. He has his own Laboratory, but he doesn't use it often. Mainly for research and comfortable living quarters. He trains with his magic after he was taught by a Wizard. His Teacher passed on and Adgerd lives alone. One day, he got himself into dark trouble.

He was invovled with a deal of drugs and such as Adgerd was getting sick. He needed something to manage his time of living. He's been hiding in Sahova for the time being. Untill Randy Reeves is taken care of.

Sahova Development Thread

Postby Clyde Sullins on February 5th, 2017, 12:34 am

I made these awhile back in 2014 when Mirage was in charge, and I think they were approved, possibly, but they never got added to the list.

So submitting them again to see about having them added/approved.

3 different kinds of berries that grow in the forest of thorns, 1 "normal", 1 poisonous, 1 magical.

---

Common Red's

Image

Found: Forest of Thorns, on thorny trees.
Rarity: Common
Seasonality: All year
Appearance: Grows either on thorny vines growing up trees, or on the thorny trees themselves. Appears green when young, purple when ripening, and red when ripe and ready to be eaten.
Purposes: Eating. (Tastes Sweet)

Summary: Proof that not everything on Sahova is deadly, these berries would fit in well in a much more mundane place, and are sweet and tasty. The only odd thing about these berries is how fast they grow, and that they can be found all year, even in winter when normal such berries would have died off.

---

Pucker Purple's

Image

Found: Forest of Thorns, on bushes.
Rarity: Common
Seasonality: All year
Appearance: Appears as bright purple berries on bushes throughout the forest of thorns.
Purposes: Natural Laxative, eating possible but not advised. (Tastes Sour)

Summary: Called pucker purple's for the pucker inducing sour taste they have. Most animals will avoid these berries and not eat them, knowing of the side effect eating them will cause. However it is not unheard of for a hungry pulser to eat these, and later regret it.

---

Winter Blue's

Image

Found: Forest of Thorns, on bushes/shrubs.
Rarity: Rare(Common in winter)
Seasonality: Usually winter only
Appearance: Appears as a normal bluish berry, which grows predominantly on bushes. Mainly grows in winter.
Purposes: Eating, inducing brain freeze.

Summary: It is unknown how exactly these berries where created, or when, but it is believed that a Nuit who was a alchemist, and a Vantha when alive, missed eating snow. To make up for this they alchemically created a berry that when eaten simulates the sensation of eating a handful of snow all at once.

This will inevitably give anything that eats it a intense brain freeze after a few moments, which lasts from a few moments, to several chimes if the person eats a handful of the berries at once.

While the taste of the cold and of the snow is lessened for nuits, the experience of the brain freeze is not, and it is said only Vantha are capable of eating these without getting one.
Clydes Stuff

I am actually in RL a super intelligent hamster from Rhode Island, with a 7 year plan to take over the world.

Update 6/2/18- 1:10AM EST: His 7 year plan a success, and several weeks ahead of schedule, Clyde leaves to oversee the world he has taken over.

No new threads after end of Spring 518-Will still be checking for PM's occasionally, but focusing on a new character.

Graders note: :
Please be aware Clyde is a master Magecrafter. He therefore should not be gaining full xp(or possibly shouldn't gain any at all) for simple tasks related to this magic, such as low level MC items, particularly for repetitions of creations he has done before. Feel free to contact me if unsure of a instance of his magic use compared to his skill level.
