The threat of the knights getting involved seemed like a slap to the face from reality for the two merchants, who both snapped out of their blind rages and looked around in alarm at the mention of them. Taking the chance Michael pushed the two further apart, creating a good deal of space between them. Roselina moved in between them, one hand on her dagger, and with both of them between them the merchants seemed to finally get the idea that violence wasn't worth the trouble.

"Look, this doesn't have to go on for any longer than it has to." The local merchant, still red in the face but now more aware of himself, growled. "Just give me back my necklace and we'll forget this ever happened."

"But I keep tell you..."

"Good gods, could you both give it a rest rest for just a second!" Michael snarled. He looked around at the crowd of onlookers. "And could somebody please go and fetch the knights? Why are you all just standing there?"

His shout seemed to get through to one of the onlookers, who broke of from the crowd and ran off down the halls of the castle, calling that they'd be back soon with the knights. The local merchant seemed pleased by this, whereas the foreign merchant went a little pale. Then, without warning, the foreign merchant grabbed the necklace from the stall, turned around and charged into the surrounding crowd, pushing through them and running off down the corridors in the opposite direction.

"So he was a thief then." She spoke as he ran away, her tone curious, and it nearly sounded like a question.

The local merchant began to chase after him, yelling, his voice enraged. Rightly enraged at having something stolen from him. Roselina was intrigued, she had always loved anything exciting, and she was desperate to see where this would go.

However, on the other hand, she didn't want to get involved, knowing it would just drag her deeper into this. Though, a slightly annoyed feeling had crept up on her, knowing that she would probably be forced into helping by her, odd, companion.

She thought he was odd, anyway.

Looking over at him, she questioned with a slightly resigned tone. "Planning to get involved in this too? The knights are coming now, though I don't suppose that'll stop you."

She paused for a second, a slight smile on her face.

"Though I suppose it might be fun to get involved and see where it goes, today was boring anyway." Roselina looked at the man next to her, wondering how he would react.

If he was honest with himself, Michael really wanted to quit. He'd been fed up enough already by keeping the two merchants, both of whom had been shouting in his ears, apart. His heart fell when the two merchants went running off, as did his face.

But even so to be a knight one was expected to uphold certain standards, and one of those standards was not giving up just because you felt like it. It was true that as a knight he under no responsibility to act, but as a citizen he was now just as responsible for upholding Syliras' laws as any other person here. It would take a lot more efforts for the knights to search for and capture the thief than it would for him to chase him down now, so it was his duty to act.

"Yes. Yes I do." He replied, clear reluctance in his tone despite his words. He set of sprinting down the corridors in pursuit of the merchant, quickly passing the local merchant who's bulky frame clearly wasn't built for running.

But he wasn't any notably faster than the thief either, and his lack of familiarity with the city was making it hard to keep up with him. Time he had to spend taking in the maze of corridors was time the thief had to pull ahead, and pulling ahead he was.

"Any chance you can cut him off somewhere. I still have no idea where we are." He shouted to Rose.

She took off into a spring after the others, her shoes clattering across the ground, careful not to stumble as she did. She weaved through he people as she had done thousands of times before, as she was used to navigating the streets of Syrilas.

It was amusing, the thought of herself, a con, helping someone catch a thief. Though it wasn't as if she was cruel, she simply did it to keep herself alive, and she was so used to it she didn't think she could stop now.

That didn't matter though, she had decided to help now, so there was no use thinking too deeply about it.

She caught up to Michael, running a bit ahead of him, listening to what he said. Roselina yelled back, her voice slightly tired from running quickly. "I believe that there is a corridor with a dead end soon, we could chase him into it and he'll be stuck."

Roselina looked back at the other as she ran, a slight smile on her face as she did so. "I'll get in front of him, you block off this side, alright?" It seemed like an alright plan in her mind, but she had no idea if it would work, it was very much like her to go with her first plan, no matter whether it was thought through well.

Rose's plan was simple but effective, just how he liked it. With a nod of acknowledgement to show he understood the plan Michael picked up the pace, hoping that they could finish the chase before he got tired.

The three of them raced through the corridors, pushing through the crowds of people before any of them had time to realize what was going on. The thief sure was quick on his feet, Michael had to hand that much too him, but it looked like he was struggling with keeping up the pace just as much as he was.

However as it turned out stamina wasn't an issue for much longer. As the thief rounded one of the corridors Roselina turned off into a smaller side passage, and abou half a minute later popped out of another passage just ahead of him. Not fancying his chances at tackling someone prepared for him the thief was forced to take the only route available to him, a strangely dusty and deserted corridor which in his panicked state the thief didn't stop to think about.

He only realized it was a trap once it was too late. The corridor only led to one place, a single door which had been barred with thick, heavy planks that there was no chance of removing without tools. Cracks in the walls around the door suggested that the room inside had been the sight of some kind of accident that'd left the place structurally unsound.

The thief turned around and tried to double back but by then it was too late, Michael and Rose had reached the corridor and blocked his exit. Michael continued to charge at the thief and, with questionably excessive force, shoulder-barged into him, sending them both crashing to the ground. The necklace flew out of the merchants hand during the impact and clattered to the ground, which neither Michael nor the thief noticed as the former pinned the latter to the ground.

"Got you now thief! Rose, can you go fetch the knights?" Michael shouted, keeping his eyes trained on the thief.

They cornered the thief, and she sighed in relief as she came to a stop, her lungs on fire from the amount of running she had done. The corridor they had cornered him in having no exit, she noticed that the door was barred.

Michael had ruashed forward, charging at the feet and they both hit the ground with a loud thud. Perhaps the man had used a little too much force than was neccesary, but the merchant was pinned, the necklace flying out of his hand and clinking as it hit the floor.

He asked her to go and get the knights, after shouting something at the thief, which sounded quite like a taunt, causing her to sigh in annoyance. Though she had come this far, there was no point in turning back now. "I'll be back with the knights then."

She felt slightly bad for doing this, as the man was likely only doing this to keep himself alive, like she was conning people to do that. However, it would be humorous for the knights to see that a normal civilian could do their job.

Finding a patrol, she spoke to them with a smile, asking them to come with her and explaining the prior events to them, as they listened and agreed to come with her, a slight disbelief of what she had said on their faces.

They turned the corner into the corridor where Michael and the thief had been, and Roselina shouted, a slightly bored tone in her speech. "Got them!"

The knights quickly got to work, arresting the thief and escorting him off to wherever it was they kept criminals. The weapon and necklace were taken as well to be used as evidence, and after thanking both Roselina and Michael for taking the time to do the right thing one of the knights assured them that the necklace would be returned to its true owner in time.

With their detour over, Michael had to admit that he felt pretty good about himself. Thanks to their efforts justice would be done quickly and efficiently, and the victim of the crime would be re-compensated in due course. He allowed himself to feel a bit of pride for his good work, and smiled to himself as he turned to Roselina.

"Well, I'd say we've done a good deed today. It's not that often you get a change to deal out vigilante justice." He gestured to the knights, who were just starting to leave to take the thief away. "I'm going to go with the knights, they'll be passing close by to the recruitment office anyway. Thank you for taking me this far though, and for sticking with me through this whole thief debacle, I appreciate it. I hope we'll meet again sometime."

She watched as the knights sorted things out, slightly regretful of helping, but it was done now. Atleast the knights seemed hapy with them, along with the person who she had helped, who seemed rather pleased with himself. He definetly had a strange want for justice, something that Roselina hadn't experienced much

The woman waved her hand as if to dismiss the thanks she was given, and smiled, her tone friendly.

"It gave me something to do anyway, and I'm sure you're happy you did it. I'm sure I'll see you around in Syrilas anyway, I'll be going." With a smile and a wave she left, her smile dropping once she has turned away, and her mind full of questions about why the their stole the necklace, and why she had found herself willing to help catch him.
