A Greeting is in Order!

Hello strangers,

I assume I should introduce myself. While my name is obviously not my character's name, I will respond to any form of Valeri. So anything from Val, Valley, even Leri if you wanna get all original. I am nineteen, which may make me older than some of you - I havn't looked around so I wouldn't know...sorry? Maybe. I live in Canada, so if British english is the backbone of this site, I think it'll be okay. We were once a colony of yours after-all ;]

I have been roleplaying for years on other sites. It's what I do and what I love - although, since I am in university, I cannot promise my activity during the full year. Need to keep those scholarships and all. I usually write around five hundred words, more or less given who I'm roleplaying with. To be honest, I have failed to look around much yet so I'm unsure how I'll fit into this society, but I guess I'll try. Since I can be lazy, I may as well ask it here since I hope people will respond to this:

Do you need a character photo for your character? I assume it is of a 'real' person with the examples of the races given...so does that mean I can use random models or must I colour edit photos of myself to fit the brand of human I wish to play?

I guess that's really my only question thus far, being a visual person and such. May ask more later :] Either way, thank you to all those who reply to this.

Nice to meet you, Ale (We have a Val, and we have an Eri, so that's the best nickname I could think of from vALEri. You said to get all original!)

We've got a lot of people in their teens and twenties, so you don't need to feel old (I reserve the status of old fart here, being 100,000 [in binary]). And we also have several Canadians, Brits, Americans, Indonesians, and a few others I can't recall at the moment. We're a very diverse place!

As for photos, some people use photos of actors, models, and other celebrities. Some use drawings from Anime, or even sketches they made themselves. Some people even use random things for their avatars... I know one player whose avatar picture is a flock of crows (I know they're supposed to be called a "murder of crows", but that just sounds odd in a sentence).

Now, if you're playing one of the other fabulous races here, and want a photo modified with colored eyes, purple skin, or any other traits that fit that race, you can always check out our Aesthetics and Design forum. There's some wonderfully fabulous artists in there who make specially modified photos for players on request.

Speaking of which, Eri, I think I get it and ew. /squirms. It should be different if the Eth come from different domains, y'know? Like, if Laszlo and Pash'nar got together and had a baby (lololol), it wouldn't be like an Inartian at all. It would be something weird and probably worthy of an unkind label. I don't think I've seen a Svefra/Symenestra sailing the seas yet....

But I digress.

My answer to your question is, no, you don't need a photo. Some of us are weird and can never find the photo they're looking for, so, I just drew my character instead.
