How to fail at introductions - aka, Hello buddies!

Postby Kal'ai on December 4th, 2012, 10:21 pm

Well, as the title said, I've never been good with introduction. The best way to describe my previous attempts would be something that range from embarassing ("I just forgot my lines on the stage") to begging for pity ("please, don't kick me even if I'm a noob"). I'm not trying to guess in which of the two this post will fall, I hope neither but the odds are against me. But I'm really rambling here, and I should go on with the proper post.

Hello everyone, Kal'ai speaking. I'm a huge fan of rpgs, and some days ago I found myself looking for some roleplay sites, strangely enough in English. That's right, I'm not a native English speaker, so please tell me if I manage to embarass every grammatical rule in a single line. Normally I'm quite a Grammar Nazi, but in this case I'm not in the position to criticize anyone and I'm glad to give the heavy burden to someone else. But hey, rambling again. Let's return to my *increasingly failing* introduction. My interest was immediately caught: wow, no elves? No vampires? No epic struggle between the Good God of Goodiness and the Bad Baddie God of All Things Dark? Hell, sign me for that. NOW. Except I waited two days, but that was because I wasn't sure to be able to attend...you know, I should be studying very hard in this period (ok, you don't. Just pretend you know), but I'm sure I'll manage. I always find a way to do what I like, after all :D
I probably rambled even too much, despite me saying that I would quit it at every occasion. I'll just end this now...Nice to meet you all!

How to fail at introductions - aka, Hello buddies!

Welcome to Mizahar, Kal'ai! Definitely not a fail introduction, haha. It was full of win.

I'm glad you've decided to join us - "one of us, one of us," etc. ;) I'm a huge fan of the Konti race (surprising, I know), and I'm really happy to see that you've joined up as one. Once you get yourself settled, or even before then, you should definitely come say hi at our Konti discussion thread!

As for being a non-Native English speaker, no worries! You'll find lots of people in the same position around Miz (including one of the site's founders!), so you've come to the right place.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions whatsoever in terms of getting started, setting up your character sheet, etc. And don't hesitate to join us in chat (the link is at the top of the page between "Lore" and "Blogs") - we'd love to see you there.

All the best,
Naeya

Ahah, thank you! Honestly, I was still deciding if I should have joined or not, when I saw the Konti race. It was love at first sight! I just can't wait to start roaming around Mura :D Buuut since I have yet to complete my CS, I'll just start saying "hi!" in the Konti thread.

Hi and welcome! Another Pretty lady I see. =D I am not a Konti, but I can't blame ya for picking one. =D And I <3 the intro, very non-cookie cutter. My favorite types. And you would be surprised at the number of actual English speaking/writing members are worse at grammer in their native tongue than someone else. [Myself included.]

Graders Please Note :
As Ball is getting closer and closer to maxing out Pyken as a skill, I would like to request that in places where Ball is not doing enough to constitute Pyken XP if Pyken technique lores could be issued instead.

Examples of proper XP level for Pyken would be: Ball developing or refining his technique by adding new thing against an actual moving target, not a dummy.

The use of basic skills alone are not enough to accomplish XP at Ball's current level of Pyken.

Thank you.

I will be handling all Ball related posts on Mondays @ 1800 my time *

Wooo, a Konti. Welcome to Miz. I'm not a native English speaker either (along with loads of other people on the site), but you'll find that it doesn't really matter. :D P.S., I think your introduction is awesome.
