While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

Steel Cage Training. [Imass]

Postby Ball on February 7th, 2013, 3:37 pm

Ball watched as Imass picked up a wooden sword and he nearly shuddered as he recalled the earlier interaction with a magically blunted Suvai. Drawing Thorn wasn't in Ball's advantage, he was small and completely untrained in the sliver of metal... Where as Imass was well trained in how to use that sword – wooden or otherwise. The pycon managed to squash in his urge to shudder and quickly pushed himself off the ground towards Imass. With his small size, elasticity, and flexibility the Pycon's speed pulled his form into an elongated shape, similar to that of a capsule. With his oblong shape giving less room for air to buffer him, the Pycon picked up more speed due to aerodynamics.

It was a matter of moments, just long enough for Imass to reposition himself with sword in hand, that Ball managed to close the gap between them. The pycon wasn't far off the ground, maybe his height or a bit more, and the target was obvious... The inner knob of Imass's ankle bone. Contact with that lovely beauty of a location would cause Imass to immediately buckle in that leg due to the bundle of nerves that Ball would be hitting.

If contact was successful simply trajectory change would allow Ball to ricochet off of the first ankle and take out the back ankle in much the same matter. It was a pinball effect after that. With each consecutive contact Ball was essentially bring Imass down to his level.

If the second contact was made Ball would now be lined up for Imass's front knee, placed directly in line with the back part of the kneecap, where the knee was most vulnerable and once more a bundle of nerves awaited there. Contact made there would bring Imass down to his front knee, making the back one inaccessible to Ball's pinball affect and thus the next location was a bit farther away. Luckily though Ball's momentum hasn't slowed enough to have him fall short. It was the inner part of his left right wrist he would make contact with.

And that would hurt a lot. Contact made there would ultimately cause the Knight to drop his sword to the ground and the squire Pycon would just be bouncing off it again and on his way to the right elbow, where once more nerves rested in the cup created by the upper and lower parts of his arm and where they connected to the patella.

Of course, if his first attempt to make contact with Imass's front ankle failed the Pycon was just going to be shooting past his Sponsor and smacking head first into the barreled chest of his short and stocky furry mount.

As Ball is getting closer and closer to maxing out Pyken as a skill, I would like to request that in places where Ball is not doing enough to constitute Pyken XP if Pyken technique lores could be issued instead.

Examples of proper XP level for Pyken would be: Ball developing or refining his technique by adding new thing against an actual moving target, not a dummy.

The use of basic skills alone are not enough to accomplish XP at Ball's current level of Pyken.

Thank you.

Steel Cage Training. [Imass]

Postby Imass on February 14th, 2013, 6:05 pm

Ser Imass sat low in his stance. He distributed his weight on the in-steps of his feet. He changed his guard and pointed the practice sword directly at Ball. He locked his wrist down and placed his index finger over the hilt. He kept his left hand up. Although the Knight was confident in his fighting abilities, he knew that his squire had fighting talent. The Pycon pushed himself off the ground and launched himself at the Imass with one great bound. The clay object flew across the floor so fast that Imass only saw an oblong shape fly.

The Akalak tried to shift backwards as if he was fighting a swordsman his own size, but kicking with his right foot and sliding his left foot was not enough to dodge the little squire. The bullet of clay slammed into the Knight's ankle. Pain went through his leg like a lightening strike. Involuntarily, the Knight picked up his left foot in pain. Instinct took over and the Akalak threw his right shoulder forward to roll away. As he rolled, he saw the clay bullet fly to the right narrowly missing his other ankle. Regaining his feet in one fluid motion, the Knight flipped his hips around to face his squire.

Ser Imass' ankle was inflamed with pain, but he clenched his jaw and fought through it. There was no time to think, because the Pycon's speed was almost unmanageable. Naturally, the warrior went back in his fighting stance without thinking. Taking two sliding steps forward, the Knight pivoted on his left foot to give himself the most momentum. Cocking his right arm back tightly, the Knight let loose a sweeping swing across the floor horizontally in front of him to smash Ball with the flat of his blade as he pivoted. Should he miss, instinct would take over.

Steel Cage Training. [Imass]

Ball missed his second target, not unexpected really, but the rock he met as a results really was unexpected. The Pycon Squire smacked into it and immediately bounce back towards Imass. Luckily for the squire he was going up at Imass and not straight back at him, meaning the sword was swung far too low to make contact at all.

Ball's current course was sending him straight of his Sponsor Knight's chest, and once more speed was in his advantage as his shape once again went elliptical in shape. The shift in movement from the impact of the rock sent Ball unable to control his current motion.

If he hit the large solid mass of blue flesh and muscle he'd be lucky to find a grasp to stay on, other wise he was just going to fall to the ground and stay put. Any momentum he gained from the ricochet return of his would instantly stop.

Of course, if Imass managed to move himself out of harm's way the Pycon was going to be taking a head dive (body dive?) into the underbrush behind him and that could prove rather painful...

Steel Cage Training. [Imass]

As the practice sword swept across the floor, a cylindrical ball of speed went flying into his chest. He didn't have time to react or change his sword's projectary so he ate Ball's attack in full force. It felt like getting punched extremely hard. The wind got knocked striaght out of him. Imass winced as his squire went tumbling down to the floor. Raising the practice sword back up, the Knight's instinct took over. As a trained warrior something like having no breath would not stop him, at least not at first. The Pycon was immediately in front of him so the Knight attempted to stomp on the Pycon with his left foot. His squire was too fast though, so the Knight brought down his practice sword again, this time a vertical strike with the flat of his blade. Regardless if he hit Ball or not the Knight would run forward several strides in order to distance himself. Imass needed to recover from getting the wind knocked out of him...

Steel Cage Training. [Imass]

First the boot came down and Ball was able to roll to the side to avoid that, then came the sword. If that hurt it'd be like being smacked with a brick for the clay being... A brick falling from the height of a really really tall tree. That just wasn't going to happen, not today. Ball rolled once more to the left, unfortunately he wasn't fast enough to take the dodge completely and the last quarter of an inch of the sword's blade clipped Ball. Perfect, he was going to feel the pain tomorrow, but he wasn't worried about that right now.

The clipping of his body gave Ball yet another advantage against Imass, it pushed the part it hit down towards the ground, the other half of Ball's body rolled up over Ball's mass and landed on the top of the flat blade, pulling the rest of his body with him.

Now, sitting poised on a flat blade was interesting to say the least, it wouldn't have been so hard if it wasn't moving, however... It was moving, and Imass was the propulsion... Well, sucks to be Imass, cause he was right there, with no way to move against the next assault that Ball can release against him.

A roll forward to keep him in lined with his sponsor knight Ball wrapped a small portion of his being around the cross guard and leapt towards Imass, it was simple weight leverage at this point, Once in the air Ball redirected the majority of his weight towards the ground, he wasn't worried about being stomped on by the Akalak, he was well out of the way for that anyway.

Well, time for the part that was going to suck of his knight though! Once the squire redirected the majority of the weight towards the ground he added more weight to the hilt of the practice sword, the footing and hand hold that his knight would normally have at this point would prove friviolous because he wouldn't be used to the extra weight just above the tang, causing the whole thing to be unbalanced... And what happens to anything that is unbalanced? Well, the lighter side usually goes upwards.

And upwards it did, straight towards Imass's face the flat blade of the sword was going, it was a simple bit of mathematics, calculated moving, and pure luck... But the attack would hurt, best of all, if the smack was good enough Ball would have a chance to take his next attack, one he had no control of mind you.

If the smack landed solidly enough Ball would be forced to release from his grasp on the cross guard and would hit the ground and bounce back up...

Unfortunately though for Imass, that would put Ball's trajectory towards a place that would hurt quite a bit if it connected...

Of course, if the attack wasn't strong enough to hit Imass in the face, or Imass was able to do something to prevent the attack from occurring, Ball had no clue what would happen to him.

Steel Cage Training. [Imass]

Postby Imass on February 24th, 2013, 3:49 am

Mid-stride the Knight felt himself clip Ball with the flat of his practise sword. From there everything seemed to happen at the same time. Taking another stride his sword went down with momentum. Another stride. Before another moment, the flat of his blade suddenly ricocheyed into his face. The last thing he saw was Ball flying. He realized at that moment two things; first that Ball used his own momentum to achieve the attack and two that he completly winded.

After being wacked the Knight dropped the weapon and tumbled to the floor. Vibrations went through his head and the warrior saw stars, birdies, and blackspots! His vision flashed white for a moment as he took a huge gasp of air. Instinct forced him to look up at Ball's location. Trying to focus was difficult but after about a whole minute he was breathing with some sort of normality. It was a hard knock to the noggin and the Knight would feel it for weeks.

Despite all this, the Zealot stood to his feet. He could not lose face in front of his squire. Regardless of how strong his student got, the Knight needed to show his dominance to the naive ball of clay. Still light head, he got in his stance and pointed an open palm in Ball's general direction.

Taking several deep breathes he called out, "Lets go Ball!" He would say no more as to conserve his strength. He was out of breath, light headed, and tired, but he was not over. He still had a few more things up his sleeve he could teach Ball about unarmed. He waited for his squire to come at him again after their couple minute rest.

oocExcellent post ball! I enjoyed it! you are very creative!

Steel Cage Training. [Imass]

Ball would've smirked if he had a mouth to do so, instead when his sponsor gave the go ahead to continue the ass whipping the Pycon took to the air with the speed only a being of his diminutive size could handle. Instead of pulling himself into an oval shape as he had the last two times, Ball kept his spherical form and stayed slow, aiming once again for the Akalak's ankle.

The move wasn't entirely unorthodox in combat situations, using a previous weakened join or location to one's advantage, it usually worked quite well, but Ball had better plans. One he knew the knight wouldn't have thought of. Ball quickly shifted his gravity center to his lower half once above the man's forward planted foot, dropping with the weight of a bowling ball being dropped from a ten story building would definitely hurt the man's foot, but it wasn't the pain Ball was aiming for, it was the reflex... Even if Imass's didn't kick up with his foot, Ball would still use his downward momentum to spring back upward towards the sky.

Either way, Ball's trajectory changed, and rapidly, the animated ball of clay watched as he shot up past the knight's knee, then waistline. Past torso and outstretched beckoning and chamber-prepared blocking arm... These were useless targets for the competent py-ken squire. He was aiming for a more sensitive place. Past the knight's chest, Ball was nearly to his preferred target of choice, just a few more inches and the Pycon would unleash his full momentum and small compact form into one full frontal whiplash of an attack.

Finally, Ball reached his apex, and his location, the knight's jaw was in line with his body and the torqued pressure that Ball's upward spinning momentum did to his inside elasticity had neared it's breaking point and Ball released it. His whole body stopped it's back to front spin into the air and immediately started a different spin, this time left to right. The inner elastic tension that Ball had caused the spherical being's body to lash out. If it was a solid connection to Imass's jaw, the pain would shoot immediately through Imass's jaw up through his nerves and into his brain. Ball had no clue if his impact would do any physical damage beyond any likely bruising, but one thing was for certain, it'd definitely give Imass more stars to examine and probably a small duration of lovely black spots and disorientation.

Of course, if the attack didn't connect, Ball would be a spinning top, utterly vunerable to whatever sort of retaliation that Ball had coming to him.

Steel Cage Training. [Imass]

Postby Imass on April 29th, 2013, 4:27 pm

Ball began to fly again. The Knight got in the most defensive stance possible; raising his arms up to his chest Imass open-palmed it, protecting his whole upper body. Ball needed to understand that the liege-lord wasn't going to play his little squire games.

Breathing quietly he waited until Ball was about to hit his ankle, then he slide-stepped diagonally backwards, turning his left shoulder toward's Ball. The clay squire shot vertical as he stepped. Imass' instinct refused to play into Ball's attack, with his torso already turned and arm cocked, he swung a heavy punch. His fingers collapsed and the Akalak squeezed his fist as hard as he could.

Unleashing all his kinetic energy and stepping into his attack, Imass smashed the Pycon with accuracy. The Knight's face was still determined and stone cold as he finally made contact with Ball. It felt like hitting a castle wall made of clay. He could also feel his bone crunching. His hand was tight, so he probably cracked a knuckle. Even though the pycon was tough, the Knight could still feel his kinetic energy moving through the squire. His attack was successful.

As his squire went flying in the opposite direction, Imass recovered in triumph. "Who knew smashing a little clay ball would feel so satisfying" said Garonn deep in Imass' mind. The Knight's heart fell into his chest at the voice of his dark brother, but he proceeded to ignore it and overwhelm him with the words of Tyveth. Imass' on insecurity with his darkside, added onto his sudden interruption in the spar made him act on instinct.

Imass stood up straight and dropped his hands, "Ball, ENOUGH!" The Akalak grew treacherous, "You have disappointed me--my squire! Were you not too tired just a minute ago to train and do you squirely duties? But now you have enough strength to spar? Ball!!"

Frustration went through Imass as the emotions of two personalities fought over his body, "Ball, what you need to do is stop feeling sorry for yourself. Training is tedious. Training is tiring. Just suck it up already and do it! Life is about hard work Ball. We are Knights. We do not know when we shall die, so its important that EVERY DAY we live we make it worth it!"

The Knight began to walk closer to Ball, not expecting retaliation as he spoke. He began to calm down a little as he let his thoughts out, "Ball you have so much talent in you, I can see it in your soul. I have faith through Yahal in you, I know this because I have seen it through your fighting-- no I have FELT it though your martial ambition. You are strong! Feel it in your body! See how you attacked me!? Do you feel the power you move!? You are moving matter itself, can't you see?"

The Knight got into an unarmed stance and brought his arms up. He would not lecture his squire without giving him a lesson. Imass' voice was full of power and determination, "Now get up and get ready! There are no excuses here! If you don't train as I say I will kick your round arse!!"

"Tyveth look down upon us now and make sure my squire truthfully uses everything he has got to give. Wysar give him the strength to turn his raw talent into technique!" Imass prayed in his mind as loudly as possible, driving Garonn deep into his sub-conscience state.

Without warning Imass began a four-combination punch against air. He kept his palms open and striked up, down, left, right. It was an old akalak tradition to teach power and control to children. Exhaling in Tukant, Imass growled each word with each strike, "Heungfhh!!! Haughze!!! Haumphh!!! Haughh!!!". The words yelled forced the person to use his stomach muscles in each strike, which inadvertently caused them to use more momentum in the strike.

One, two, three, four. Heungfh, haughze, haumph, haugh. North, south, east, west. Imass punched the four strike combo at a good pace that Ball could keep up with, using all his power.

"Feel the power Ball. Feel the energy of the space around you--HAUGHZE-- feel the energy move through you with every strike. Swing more. Swing you body -- GAAAHH!!!"
