50th Day of Summer, 510 A.V.
Seyp remained crouched at the gates of Taloba, rummaging through his pack. The invitation to the hunters had been sent out, and now he waited to see which of them would arrive. Even a request was put in to allow a new arrival to take part in the hunt. If the Konti wasn’t going to be eaten, one should see what uses she brought, apart from antagonizing from what he had heard when inquiring about prospective hunting partners.

While rummaging through his pack, Seyp finally pulled out the skulls of his mother and father, holding them in his hand before him. His eyes closed and he brought the skulls to a gentle press along his brow as he began whispering a silent prayer to both the Gods and his parents for a successful hunt, especially when it came to the time before the actual kill would come . He wished to gather material of a particularly elusive creature in the jungle, and needed the rest to help him with that task. However, he needed time to gather information about the creature first, otherwise any Malediction attempt would produce more undesirable results.

His eyes soon opened, lowering the skulls from his brow as he stared into the hollow sockets of the eyes. A soft kiss was then laid along the brow of each skull before he whispered softly, “May your guidance be with me.”

Seyp then laid the skulls along the back of his pack, hooking them to the straps that had been sewn into the surface so they could dangle and be the eyes that watched his back. Simple fantasy in the long run, but it always made him feel a tad more comfortable. Seyp closed his pack up, slowly standing as he slipped it over his shoulders. He then pulled his weighted chain from his waist and proceeded to check it’s condition, link by link, while he waited to see who would show for the hunt.

Hunting by Numbers(Hunting Party)

Postby Siiri on July 14th, 2010, 6:35 am

Siiri made her way to the gates armed to the teeth: a ten footer in one hand, dual serrated daggers strapped to her hips, throwing daggers tucked in hidden sheaths in her bracers and boots and Slayer, newly oiled and coated to prevent rusting, swinging lightly in its custom half-sheath behind her back. Her cornrows were braided close to her head now, to prevent them from getting in the way, whether in combat or in flight. The clothing she wore was sparse and clung to the skin, practical garments to prevent snags while in combat or in flight. She skipped her leather and bone armor – the heavy rains would just ruin them no matter how well Iami had treated them. Her skin sheened in the downpour, highlighting her tattoos and battle scars. It only served to accentuate her aura as a warrior.

Behind her followed her perennial companion, the wolf Kelvic, Miharu.

The two had come from the markets to stock up on emergency rations, one week’s worth for each of them. Siiri carried everything in her pack, leaving all non-essential gear back in her trunk in the barracks. She had insisted that Miharu carry nothing, knowing the girl would need to shift between forms frequently during the expedition and not wanting to burden her with having to return for any dropped gear. Things like that could prove dangerous in the jungle, especially now with the current weather pattern when a different set of predators stalked the place as compared to when the jungle was not so wet and flooded. The girl was as lightly dressed as her, though she would let her run naked if she wanted once they left the city.

Siiri spotted the instigator of the Hunt and strode towards him, grasping his arm in a firm but brief armclasp. She did not know who he was, but he was the only one there apart from the guards so she just assumed. Seyp, his name was, or something similar sounding. Siiri could not remember. She only knew he was a practitioner of malediction and, according to those she had asked, was more proud of that fact that in any of the martial skills he knew. She was not one to judge but this man must want whatever beast they would be hunting very badly to even dare brave the jungle in this storm.

“Siiri. That’s Miharu, she’s mine,” Siiri said as way of introduction and explanation for her bondmate's human form. “I assume there will be others? They better be packed and ready, I want to move out within half a bell.”

Hunting by Numbers(Hunting Party)

Postby Koa on July 14th, 2010, 7:23 am

Today would be a far more interesting and exciting day it seemed. Koa had been given word of a hunting expedition into the jungle wilds to help a certain Myrian named Seyp on a quest to improve his Malediction. Koa knew not the ways of such practices, but what was there to lose when she could escape the walls of Taloba and wrap her olive hands around something’s neck and then later devour it? Be it dhani or some predator with canines and claws the size of her face, she would not show up frightened or unprepared. This was not how she was. She would give her all, even if it meant shedding blood.

Before she set out toward the gates of the city, her sister had come round to help her sort her required belongings. Saki was confident her sister would return victorious, with much stories to tell as she often did upon defeating some fellow duelist or a creature out in the wilds. Koa had donned her hunting attire, leggings of flexible material that fit snuggly against her fit form, with belts that held an array of darts and two sharpened daggers. A whip was secured tightly against her thigh for easy reach as well. On one hand she wore her gauntlet, riddled with spikes that could easily tear flesh, this would be the companion to the modified glaive she would take with her; the foot long daggers curved in opposite directions, sharpened and glinting even in the dull veil the downpour had brought with them.

Saki stored Koa’s provisions in her sack, tied it together and secured it to her sister’s back. “Be careful, kill many things for the Painted Eyes, Koa! Mother has eyes and ears everywhere.” Koa scoffed, rubbing her younger sibling’s hair affectionately, although much to the annoyance of Saki. “I know this out of all of us, child. I’ll be sure to bring back many meats for us to feast and savor.” With this said she pat Saki’s back one last time before making her way toward the gates of Taloba. The rain soaked her from head to toe, but her pack and her belongings were kept as dry as possible, due to the rubber lining that covered the material composing the pack.

Her hair, which had been pinned up to secure it away from her face was now matted in knots and clung to her forehead and cheeks, but despite the fact that the only thing covering her chest was a leather bra, she did not shiver or cower at the torrential downpour. She continued on, head held high, defiant to the elements but still grateful for Laviku and his daughter, Makutsi. Rain was not something to be feared, it was a comforting element that brought calm to the Myrian warrior, and it was surprisingly evident when she approached the two figures standing on the outskirts of Taloba.

“Hah, well if it isn‘t Siiri of the Snapping Jaws,” She proclaimed, nearly grinning when she approached the older woman, clasping arms with her after she had done so with Seyp. “It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I heard you found yourself a pup, a kelvic was it? Is that her?” She stared at Miharu, almost with disdain, then she turned to address Seyp, who she eyed with a rather scornful look, regardless. Just another flare of her pleasant personality. “Ah, the one who meddles in magic and other misgivings. Do you even know how to properly hold a sword, man?” She shook her head and placed a balled up fist on her jutted hip, idly spinning her glaive in her free hand. “Whatever, who else are we waiting for? The rain’s not going to lighten up anytime soon.”

Hunting by Numbers(Hunting Party)

Postby Hania on July 15th, 2010, 6:18 pm

His decision had been made last night, before helping his sister corral her children inside their house for bed. Several of them wanted to talk but he didn’t give them time. He didn’t even allow time for farewells. Hania simply scooped up his one armful of belongings and stalked out of the building and into the night. Most of the hours following his departure from his family were spent in the branches of a tree in the city. He watched Leth traverse the black sky, pin pricked with light from countless stars. Equally countless was the number of times he’d contemplated death, as he did all that night. It was true he felt a certain sense of immortality because he knew if he was a good Myrian Myri would bring him back to her. But it was the actual act of losing all consciousness that made him wonder. Up in the tree he felt a connection to nature, that was where he felt safest. But once he climbed down the safety blanket was gone and he was reminded of just how safe he really was.

He found a pool of water with which he could use to trim the hair on the sides of his head using one of his daggers. The task was finished quickly, seeing as he preferred a close cut on the sides, and just as the rain began to fall. The longer middle section of his hair was quickly undone, soaked, and then tightly rebraided so it wouldn’t come out easily. His canvas tarp was folded up neatly with all the essential items tucked away in the folds. It was then tied around his waist with the makeshift pack resting in the small of his back. The water skin and daggers secured to the waist belt of his pants, as well as the bone machete’s handle leaving the blade to be loosely tied around his thigh. When he was done nothing flailed as he moved, further decreasing the likelihood of getting snagged and slowed down on something. With time left on his hands he returned his vest and all the items he didn’t need at the doorstep to his sister’s house, then found a quiet place to sharpen his half spear.

Once both blades on his weapon easily cut through a finger sized stick he felt it was time to go. He was glad to see he wouldn’t be there first since all he’d heard about the organizer of the hunting party were strange rumors. He was curious about the odd craft but felt as if keeping his distance from it was the best course of action. But the company the man, who he guessed to be the reclusive Syep, had attracted so far was to his liking even if their talents and age made him feel out of place. After greeting them all, and even going so far as to acknowledge the kelvic, he clammed up to listen; absently scratching the dirt with a toe only to watch the surrounding wet soil fill in the divot. The rain would make tracking anything in the jungle difficult. Han would keep his lips shut until he could decide if he did or did not like the plan to hunt down whatever it was they were after.

Hunting by Numbers(Hunting Party)

Postby Satu on July 17th, 2010, 7:23 am

Satu learned of the expedition only the night before. Oni had been braiding the Konti’s hair, one long braid for the back, and the sides she pulled into smaller, tighter twists. Hearing of the scheduled journey, Satu sat up straighter, listening intently. Malediction experiments? Seyp? What did it mean? She did not know these words, but that did not concern her. She wanted to be a part of it. A trip to the Jungle! And she turned hopefully towards Oni, but much to her disappointment, the woman told her NO, the Jungle was too dangerous for a Konti, and that she had no business being there. Satu remembered her other words with disgust. They only want to see what you can do… You are a novelty. That was the reason for the invitation. Oni was harsh, and Satu became sullen as the Myrian continued her work. It had hurt when Oni pulled the braids tight into sections and added bits of bone and colourful feathers to her white hair. Each solid tug caused the HeartSeer to feel more rebellious, and the longer Satu sat on the floor at Oni’s feet, the more she realized she belonged out there with the others. Smirking to herself, her mind began to craft an escape plan to join the expedition.

The next morning, after waiting impatiently for Oni to leave, she hurriedly grabbed supplies she thought she might need for the hunting trip. Haphazardly, provisions and foodstuffs were thrown in one of Oni’s old packs and Satu walked out the door and into the rain. Looking up at the downpour, she smiled as the rain coated her face and dripped on her clothes. She still wore a mixture of Myrian clothes topped with her own worn Konti garments. Rivulets of water ran through her scalp, trailing down the braids and onto her back, the scales glowing silver in the wetness. The rain was a good omen for the Konti, and its distraction helped wash away thoughts of what Oni would do if she suspected that Satu had stolen away again.

Like a dancer on stage, Satu’s long, fluid strides carried her regally to the meeting place. In one hand she held the newly acquired pack full of provisions. The Konti had never before been on a hunt, and had no idea what one entailed. But still she believed she belonged there with the others, and carried herself accordingly. The Konti also gave no indication she had failed to obtain Oni’s leave to be there either, and in fact she already had forgotten that small detail.

A group of warriors stood at the gate, and from the looks of them and their weapons it appeared they were going to war. This had to be the hunting party! Satu knew Siiri, and with her marks and scars, she looked like a battle queen. But Satu simply shook her head, how many weapons did the woman actually need? The Myrian’s placed too much emphasis on weapons, Satu thought. And Koa was here too! Nodding to both of them, she remained quiet and allowed her Heart to probe and feel the rest of the party’s emotions. Each would be judged accordingly by Satu’s unusual standards for what they carried in their Hearts. Today though, the Konti was agreeable and untroubled and no one looking upon her would believe an aggressive and unbalanced nature was hidden within her. Peaceful for the moment, the part of her that instigated fights and conflict was buried deep, deep down, sheltered from view. So, Satu in a strange kindness, gave Seyt and the others a formal Konti bow; two hands placed over her Heart, as her heavy braid fell softly over her shoulder.

Hunting by Numbers(Hunting Party)

Postby Pua on July 25th, 2010, 4:20 am

Pua stood staring down at his bed within the Spirit Falcon Lodgings, trying to tell if he had missed something. Laid out upon it was all the gear and supplies he felt he might need on his current trek into the jungle. Three piles of different sized bolts, five crossbows of various make, a brand new quiver he had just purchased from the Market yesterday, his razor, a full waterskin, and a tube of traveler's stock just in case he couldn't find anything edible in the jungle. Pua separated out five bolts from the full sized pile, and placed the other fifteen into the quiver, which he then secured to one of his two belts at the small of his back. The waterskin was fastened to the other belt to evenly distribute the weight. From the hand and bracer sized bolt pile Pua pulled out two bolts apiece, and bundled up another ten. He slipped the ten hand sized bolts into the outer pocket of his left oversized belt pouch. The ten bracer length bolts, as well as the traveler's stock and the razor went into the right pouche's outer pocket. His gear packed, Pua set about readying his weapons. First he slipped on his specialized bracers, each fitted with a small crossbow. He took the two bolts he had left out for them and slipped them into place, cocking the mechanism. Next he moved on to his brace of hand crossbows, cocking and loading each before slipping them into the enlarged main pouch of his two belt pouches. Finally he fed the magazine of his light repeating crossbow with the five fullsized bolts, and cranked the windlass three times to ready the weapon for firing.

With his preparations complete, Pua left the lodgings and headed towards Taloba's gates. He was going out to hunt a powerful beast, or so the notice that Pua was answering claimed. The man leading the expedition wanted the prey for some sort of witchcraft, an area Pua purposefully tried to remain ignorant of. It was one thing to accept magic as a useful fact of life, but by Pua's reasoning, the less one meddled with powerful sources beyond his control, the greater chance one had of staying alive. Pua felt alive was a good state to be. The task seemed simple enough. Get the the sorcerer to the beast, kill the beast, and then get him safely home. Pretty straight forward, even with a whole jungles worth of things trying to kill you. At least it appeared that they would have a pretty large sized party heading out.

As he reached the gates, Pua noticed that he was not the first one there. Indeed there was already a large gathering. Looking around he only spotted one face he recognized, Siiri of the Snapping Jaws along with her pet kelvic, he still wasn't sure exactly what was going on there. He nodded amiably to them. The rest were a diverse lot, to say the least. A man fiddling with a chain had two skulls hanging off his pack, which led Pua to assume that he was this little hunt's instigator. Aside from Siiri, Pua noticed another woman, though he knew nothing of her. Pua was used to being the runt in any particular group of Myrians, but even his diminutive stature towered over another man who looked like he just might be as wide as he was tall. And lastly, A white dreyhan was standing around as well. Pua had no idea who or what she was so chalked her up as someones lunch until he learned more. The group was clearly waiting to leave. "Am I late?" Pua asked unabashedly, flashing them his lopsided smile.

Postby Miharu Mindi on July 26th, 2010, 11:27 pm

Miharu's would, indeed, have preferred to run naked, and planned on doing just that once they were outside the oppressive walls of the city. But she knew that Siiri preferred she wear clothing, if for no other reason than to keep the eyes of others off her body - though she still wasn't quite sure why that was necessary, wasn't Siiri proud of Miharu's strength and beauty, shouldn't she wish to show it off? - and so she wore them.

Just a simple sari, the same deep shade of green that most of the jungle knew, covering her from breast to mid-thigh. Above the hemline a series of four scars ripped across her right shoulder, quite obviously the clawmark of some creature or other. Her left cheek bore the same design, though it was stamped on her flesh in ink rather than blood. Her arms and legs were dotted here and there with various smaller scars, and the way she moved made it no question as to how they were likely all achieved: she was a predator, a hunter, and it could be seen in the fluid, inhuman way that she walked and the careful way her eyes followed the movements of each and every one of them.

Those liquid-gold eyes flickered to Seyp at the introduction, and she nodded as politely as she knew how. She was still getting used to the Myrians and their strange concepts of politeness, since most of what the rest of the world would consider politeness was usually considered weakness to a Myrian.

But she knew condescension well enough, and when she heard it pour from Koa's mouth she snarled and lifted a lip to show her teeth - a teensy bit sharper than a human's should be. "I am no one's pet, little girl," she growled, and though she looked for a moment as if she might pounce on Koa for the insult, she didn't take a single step out of Siiri's shadow. The men were disregarded since they'd said nothing to her, and the White Ghost was given at least a glance before she turned her golden gaze back on her bondmate, waiting for direction.

Hunting by Numbers(Hunting Party)

Postby Seyp on July 27th, 2010, 5:05 am

Seyp was still inspecting the links of his chains as the first two of the group showed up. The first was the tall female warrior known as Siiri, as the heavy rains beat down along the braided hair and that fierce gaze of hers peered towards Seyp through the heavy blanked of water. The only thing likely more noticeable than the presence she emitted was the large amount of weaponry she had strapped about her body. The other that walked with her was the young Kelvic, petite but on cut fiercely in tone, Seyp could tell that this female was being introduced to Myrian ways, most likely by the Snapping Jaw herself. The two of them together would have likely been enough for the hunting trip, but Seyp was interested in seeing how a large group together would hold up, especially when the hunt didn’t involve an immediate kill. Seyp slowly dragged his finger along his brow, wiping away a layer of moisture, which in the end, made very little difference as the rain that soaked them all soon began running over his face once again. Seyp then simply gave a nod to Siiri’s first question, as he began raveling his weighted chain with in his hand, looking down to it. “We should be able to move out sooner, depending on how long it takes the others to show.” Seyp then said, returning the reply to Miharu.

Just as he was finishing, the third of the group showed up, her face carrying attitude and her presence announcing as though the she had a Myrian chip on her shoulder as the rain matted down the dark hair and narrow eyes. Seyp imagined her to have the shortest fuse of all in the group, but her energy and likely skills, along with the others, would prove useful in the event they ran into conflict with things other than the creature they hunted. His expression remained unchanging, blank, when Koa questioned his ability as he wound the last of his weighted chain and attached it to the buttoned loop along his waist. “My weaponry is something more useful for my practice,” Seyp simply replied to her, “and if your words are meant to illicit some form of negative response, then your breath is wasted.”

Seyp then shifted his eyes between Miharu and Koa, noticing the tension that had already began building between the two with just a few simple words uttered. Already flaws in the group were presenting themselves, but it was minor at this stage. Still, Seyp would have to keep an eye on such, and would likely look to Siiri, who had the most field experience of the group in his eyes, to help with settling disputes that my arise. Seyp’s gaze then fell to Hania as he began approaching soon after, and for some reason, he felt that the man had a certain hesitation when it came to Seyp himself, despite the greeting offered. Still, he had well balanced skills, and from what Seyp had heard, a calm demeanor. Something that, Seyp hopped, would rub off on some of the more energetic members of the group.

The wild card was the next to show up. Satu was her name as the curves and delicate grace, that he only imagined her race inherently possessed, were first noticed. Seyp wasn’t even certain why he extended the invitation to her in the first place, apart form sheer curiosity in the abilities the Konti possessed. He would make mental notes of such during the course of the trip, remembering every fine detail in the event the bones of this woman would one day make their way to Seyp. He had yet to, after all, create something using the bones of a Konti. All the same, he had heard that she had caused some strife since arriving, especially with Siiri. It was likely, Seyp concluded, that her and Koa would likely get along, or flat out try to kill each other.

The least hairy of the group then arrived, as rough dark skin and toned muscle betrayed an agility and sharp aim. Pua was brought in for his ranged specialty, his skill with the crossbow would come in handy in this hunt especially, but not totally to the extent he may have thought. In any event, it was also reassuring that the group would have a lookout from within the trees at times, and one no less that could cover them with ranged attacks. Especially in the event that the group ran into some humans who ventured into the jungle or a possible Dhani attack. He brought a certain balance to the group that would have otherwise been lacking. “Just on time, actually.” Seyp then replied before looking over the entire assembled group. “Well then, shall we?”

Seyp then slowly turned, and began trudging into the jungle at a relaxed pace, slowly looking back to the group as their journey began. “The jungle creature we shall be hunting is called a Kisthkin. For those not familiar with them, they are a large animal, primate in origin. They’ll generally weight anywhere between two hundred fifty to three hundred pounds. They are strong, especially in their limbs, agile and fast. More importantly, they are a troupe animal, living together in groups. While they are omnivorous in nature, that doesn’t make them less of a threat. Especially considering they’ll very likely outnumber our group.” Seyp explained, letting the group know what they were going after.

Seyp then suddenly stopped, turning towards the group as he looked over each of them with a hint of seriousness in his eyes. “This will likely be the most important detail of this hunt, so I must stress it right now. For those of you who don’t have much patience, I would advise learning some now." Seyp then said, a firm tone in his voice. "The first seven days of this hunt, after finding our pray, will be spent in observation of Alpha Kisthkin of the group. During this observation, we will instigate responses, observe it’s behavior. We will give chase to it, but not to kill or capture, but rather to see how it moves. How fast and how agile it is. We will try to gain some measure of the creatures strength, whether by observing some of the things it lifts, or by avoid it’s very attacks on us if necessary. As well, we will also do simple observations of it’s wilderness survival. How it gathers food, how it keeps alert for predators as well as warn them off.”

Seyp then let a moment of silence pass by as he looked over the group once again. “The details, will be very, very important.” Seyp then stressed. “Without them, the items I craft for you as payment, will yield negative effects, or worse yet, do nothing at all. The items, if we properly observe this primate, will allow you to run faster, hit harder, or otherwise enhance the natural physical abilities any of you already posses.”

Seyp then waited to see if any of them had any questions before he slowly turned and began making his way north-east in the jungle.

Hunting by Numbers(Hunting Party)

Postby Siiri on July 28th, 2010, 3:23 pm

As they waited for more people to arrive, Siiri pulled Miharu to the side and inspected her bondmate, noting the still-healing scars on her pearlescent skin. Idly, she fixed the knot on the girl's sari.

“Can you shift now?” she asked quietly. It was an important question for she needed the skills and abilities of the girl's animal form for this hunt. “I would prefer if you traveled in your wolf form, at least until we find whatever it is we'll be hunting. Your sense of smell might be rendered useless for while the rain masks our scent effectively from predators, but it also mask theirs. The weather is perfect for setting up ambushes. But your heightened hearing would still be useful. If you can shift, do so when we are on our way. I want you running parallel with whoever is at point.”

Siiri did not get an answer from Miharu immediately however, for Koa of the Painted Eyes arrived and words were exchanged between the younger Myrian and the wolf-girl. Sensitive to all things that concerned her bondmate, the Kelvic seems to take exception at Koa's banter that Siiri had to remind her, “Focus only on me.”

The rest of the group arrived thereafter. Koa and Pua were already known to her, as well as the eccentric Satu, but the one called Hania was new to Siiri. She offered the shorter man a mere nod, giving away nothing. No one else seemed to be joining, and Seyp led them into the jungle, orienting himself to travel to a northeasterly direction. At least they would be moving away from the damnable Basin, Siiri thought with just a little bit of relief. The jungle was wet enough; she did not want to have to deal with crocodiles and serpents expanding to new territories because of the flooding waters.

Seyp briefed them then of what they would be hunting – some sort of simian creature, and the Alpha of the troupe to boot. Siiri wondered why the man did not just enlist a Tiger rider – it would have been easier all around if he did – until he mentioned the caveat that they must “observe” the creature first before they hunted it. The warrioress remembered enough of her old teacher Baba's lectures to know that such a thing was needed for the art of Malediction. Sound reasoning. A larger group would be better suited for the task then, and without the presence of the top predator of the jungle that was the Myrian Tiger, these Kisthkins would not become too alarmed while they observed the Apha at a distance and tested its instincts and reactions. There were still some things that bothered Siiri however. She would not question why they had to hunt the blasted beast in the middle of a damnable deluge (she assumed the organizer knew enough about the habits of such animals that they could only be seen during Makutsi's incessant downpours), but order had to be set before they could proceed. If no ranking Myrian would join them, then Siiri would take the reins herself. She would not allow herself to be led by anyone else in the group.

“Hold, Seyp,” she called, her voice commanding the rest of the group to stop as well. She spoke in common, for the benefit of her bondmate and Satu. “You have set your rules, I will set mine. I will be leading this party, deferring to you only when it comes to dealing with the beast.

“From your words, we are after the Alpha alone. Caiyha willing, I pray that is the only one we have to bring down but aggression from the rest of its pack is unavoidable. Slay only that which immediately threatens you, otherwise leave them be so that they can replace the Alpha once the hunt is done. We are not mindless slayers like the greedy humans of other lands, so obey the rules of Nature! Unless you can drag back to Taloba what you kill, I don't want anyone indiscriminately slaughtering these Kisthkins!”

Her case done, Siiri eyed the others, checking to see if anyone would try to wrest leadership from her. There would be problems later on if there were conflicts in the chain of command.

“If you have no issues, we will proceed as so: Hania, you will take point with me. Keep a dagger throw's distance from me. And try to keep up. My bondmate will join us if she can shift, or else you will have to accompany Satu, Miharu. Either way, you will relay to me and Hania the directions we must proceed to as dictated by Seyp. Satu, you will join Seyp as part of the main body. Do try to keep silent, Konti. I am thankful the jungle's ears cannot hear your thoughts or we will be dealing with all sorts of maddened beasts right now. Seyp, when we get near, switch with Hania. Koa, rear guard with Pua. I need you two to anchor the group in case something comes behind us or attacks from the side.

“Now, Tiger's Roar if there is to be fighting and you need back up. Howler's Mating Call if you want us to gather to your position, Bullfrog's Croak to orient the rest of the group of your positions.

“Questions? No? Then we proceed.”

Siiri used her spear to part the vegetation before her before plunging into the underbrush. A few moments later, the sound of a bullfrog could be heard in the direction she had traveled. She hoped the rest of the group would use every bit of stealth and skill they possessed to move quietly through the jungle. The heavy rain masked most of the sounds they made well enough but she did not want them unprepared and running across predators that hunted best in such conditions.

OOCBossy Siiri is bossy. >.<
Apologies to everyone I'm threading with, but it's like the Danaides for me right now.

Hunting by Numbers(Hunting Party)

Postby Koa on July 29th, 2010, 5:32 am

Koa hadn’t expected the pale creature to respond to her so quickly, but seeing as the kelvic belonged to Siiri, she held herself back from smacking her clear across the face. Instead she smiled charmingly at her, patting her cheek. Then her direction soon returned to the rest of the party, particularly Seyp, who began to speak once the rest of the group had arrived. Hania she greeted quietly, and the bald one she merely nodded towards, until Seyp’s description of their intentions on this run caught her attention completely. They were hunting Simians, for the clear purpose of Malediction, and she wondered if Caiyha would approve of this massacre of a much needed Alpha. She scowled.

“What a grand idea, disrupt the balance of a species for your benefit, of course, as long as I can improve myself beyond what I am, I’m all for it. But please if Caihya decides to rain hell upon us I ask you leave me out of your guilt.” Then they were about to begin their trek through the rain-drenched jungles, until, of course, Siiri stopped them with her commanding voice. She grinned, for she knew what was to come next. The Snapping Jaws woman was a warrior to take seriously when it came to such matters as a hunt or organization. Yes, Koa was slightly annoyed at several of the members in the group, the deyhan and the kelvic girl to be more speicif, but she assumed if anything they would be exceptionally good bait if they encountered a predator too large to take on. Bait and run, something she abhorred to do, but it would get rid of the weak bitches all the same.

When Siiri relayed what Koa was to do amidst the journey through the wilds, she glanced at Pua. Common wasn’t a language she could easily understand, but at least she got the gist of what had been said. He was attractive, at least, although being distracted by the bald Myrian wouldn’t do the group any good should a dangerous predator make itself known. She spoke, although she did so in Myrian, “Understood.” The younger Myrian wouldn’t wrestle leadership from her, or even attempt to. Koa knew better from a life of the military that orders were to be followed without question, lest you be made an example of in front of your peers. Her bitchy attitude died down in the face of a friend, anyone else, however, who had no military experience or deserved such respect could stab themselves in the arm before they would even utter an order to her.

The trek finally began. Koa waited for the rest to proceed before gripping her glaive tighter and starting off with the dark-skinned Myrian beside her. She glanced at him, smirking. “Don’t let me down, Pua. Or if you do, at least don’t get in my way. You’re handsome, but I would sacrifice you in a heartbeat if you petch us over.” She smiled once more, that disgustingly charming smile, that façade that played at being a sweet, innocent damsel, when in reality there was a jungle cat ready to burst forth and devour anything in her path. She returned her gaze to what was ahead, her eyes boring into the back of the deyhan in front of her.

“Move faster, white witch.” Koa barked in broken Common at her before prodding her with the tip of her bone glaive. There was no hostility in her tone, only a mischievous jesting.

oocI'm sorry Pua, Siiri is bossy and Koa is a super bitch. :(
