"Its a pleasure to meet you Miss Shadow."
Corvus replied as he removed the glove from this right hand to shake hers in a greeting gesture. The removal of the glove would appear uncommon to some but this was considered the gesture of a gentleman. He was taught to never take the hand of a woman with the gloved hand you spent the day getting dirty, be it by the soil of the earth, or the corruption of thievery. His hands were surprisingly soft and cold, which a soft touch was needed for his line of work. He attempted to offer the woman a sincere smile, something he was not use to but he hated to see and hear her sniffle as she downcast her own eyes.
"Jewels you say? Well, it is not the jewels that make the sword. It is the sharpness of the blade like a kind smile. Nor does the jewels in a crown make a king, a king. It is those that follow him, like loyal friends and family."
Something his father always taught him. He released the woman's hand and then turned to the other female whom was attending the bar.
"Don't you think so Miss Shiress?"
In a closed society where everybody's guilty, the only crime is getting caught. In a world of thieves, the only final sin is stupidity. |
