Ricky kept his own Res close to him as he watched the projectile water move freely through the air between them now, in the short matter of time it had covered the distance there wasn't much space left for Clyde to react with now. Of course he was already prepared for this, prepared enough to have made his own Res capture the projectile in perfect time to coordinate swift and easily executed attraction. For a moment it seemed as though the water had developed a mind of it's own, and in turn swirled around the center of the force it had been attracted to as Clyde commanded the sphere to his own will once more.

Such flawless technique! To other mages or wizards that were more advanced than Ricky this would've likely been nothing, but to Ricky himself this was an amazing force to be reckoned with. To think that such power could hold sway over the elements so easily, and in turn submitted to your own will to be subjected how you may choose. That was power. Power that Ricky wanted yet feared to have in his possession, because such power was what made a man lose himself to the temptations of the power's own darker nature. He needed to learn though, to practice and control the power he was given. How else was the fisherman to serve as a guardian for the city?

"So t'inkin' much like combat wise applies f'r castin' magic t', only t' a certain extent t'ough." He noted aloud so that his teacher would be aware that Ricky had a strong grasp at the concept now, it was certainly easier to consider the momentum now, seeing as how he'd been given both lesson and hands on experience. "De zone o' control? Dat's where Oi lose me ability t' 'old ont' me Res den, Oi felt it not but a moment ago when Oi sent forward de water." It made sense to him now, since he more or less learned what this zone of control was, and how it'll more or less expand with further practice. Ricky could only watch in amazement with how the water seemed to float about and levitate, the will behind Clyde's intent quite noticeable upon his display of control from just a moment ago.

"Oi gotta admit Oi've actually learned quite a lot t'day, somet'in Oi didn't expect but all de same welcome." He complimented to Clyde in terms of teaching, since the scholar did after all provide the lesson for him. He could only wonder what came next though, did Clyde seem to think the lecture at a good stopping point? Or was there something more to the lesson he wanted to teach? Ricky couldn't even guess really, he could only wait to hear what the man had to say next.

"So t'inkin' much like combat wise applies f'r castin' magic t', only t' a certain extent t'ough."

Clyde shook his head, not agreeing with the fisherman's assessment.

“No, magic is combat. Perhaps you don't see its uses as such right now, but magic is always a fight. Sometimes a fight against external foes, sometimes against yourself, but magic is combat. And combat is combat, regardless of the weapons being used. Whether its with a ball of flame, or a blade, or a chair leg, it is still combat. I would not imagine tactics and ways would be to different regardless of the weapon used.”

As the lesson continued on, slowly approaching its end, Clyde continued to do his best to puzzle through the mans words. He did not understand why he did not speak a bit more clearly... Was her perhaps addled in the head, or had some deformity of the mouth that caused it? Or was he just lazy? He could see no good reason to speak in such a mushed up manner with ones words, which only lead to confusion.

"De zone o' control? Dat's where Oi lose me ability t' 'old ont' me Res den, Oi felt it not but a moment ago when Oi sent forward de water."

"Oi gotta admit Oi've actually learned quite a lot t'day, somet'in Oi didn't expect but all de same welcome."

As he finished up, Clyde could not help but be a bit insulted by the man's words. Clyde glared back at him for his rudeness. Clyde had said he would teach him, and he had the raw effrontery to say he had not expected much? From him? His sentence had begun as a compliment, saying he had learned a lot, but had quickly turned to a insult.

Without even realizing it, Clyde willed the remaining bit of res in the ball of water to transmute, this time into fire. There would be a sudden pulse, a bubble, and then the ball of water would explode sending hot drops of water flying in every which way. Clyde was only saved from being scalded by the fact that he was so many paces from the man. Even as it was several drops would land against the robes covering his legs.

Upon hitting the cold winter ground the hot water would react, making a hiss as the hot water met the cold ground beneath them.

Ricky on the other hand was much closer, and would likely be pelted by the drops of hot, perhaps even scalding hot, water. Most would likely hit the clothing that covered him, but any drops that hit exposed flesh would likely be painful.

“Don't be insolent, you little whelp. Don't think just because you have more years on me that you have more experience, or that it means you are my better.”

Of course, Ricky could have meant what he said in a different way, meaning perhaps that he had not expected to learn anything on this day prior to meeting Clyde, but was glad that he had unexpectedly upon meeting him. But this did not occur to Clyde at the time, and instead his temper flared jumping to what in his mind was a clear meaning to the words.

“Gather your res you've brought forth, and reabsorb it. You don't want to let it go to waste. You won't regain all of it, but some is better than none. Always do so upon completing using Reimancy. And don't exude the res until it is needed, lest decay will take it and make your castings ever more costly.”

With that Clyde was done, and gathered up his things, and turned to go. He made one final look at Ricky, a glare, and then stalked off.

He had been planning to give him one final lesson, a practical display of res decay, but in his anger had forgotten about it. And having transmuted his own res into flame, he had no ambient res floating about to reclaim or that could decay.

Of course, he had unintentionally made a odd combination of elements, of flame and water, in using them together in his final showing of Reimancy.

Clydes Stuff

I am actually in RL a super intelligent hamster from Rhode Island, with a 7 year plan to take over the world.

Update 6/2/18- 1:10AM EST: His 7 year plan a success, and several weeks ahead of schedule, Clyde leaves to oversee the world he has taken over.

No new threads after end of Spring 518-Will still be checking for PM's occasionally, but focusing on a new character.

Graders note: :
Please be aware Clyde is a master Magecrafter. He therefore should not be gaining full xp(or possibly shouldn't gain any at all) for simple tasks related to this magic, such as low level MC items, particularly for repetitions of creations he has done before. Feel free to contact me if unsure of a instance of his magic use compared to his skill level.

oocSorry this took an age to get to! You can expect it in the request thread already seeing as how I was the closing post. :) Had a great time writing with you Clyde, also looking forward to our other thread as well!

The way Clyde had expressed magic made Ricky truly ponder as to whether or not magic was all about combat, sure there was the fact that one dueled with their inner temptations when they would cast, but sure enough magic wasn't entirely based on the idea of fighting now was it? It was something the fisherman could only question, yet all the same he took it to heart to note Clyde's own perspectives. Magic is always a fight, combat that must be exercised. Will that is meant to be tempered. There were so many ways to look at the subject as a whole, therefore interpreting what Clyde meant was somewhat a puzzle itself seeing as how he would explain one thing and hint at yet another. Of course when the time came for Ricky to try and compliment the fact he learned a lot today, that compliment alone seemed to have led on to its own misinterpretation of a sort.

Before he had any time to officially react and knew what had happened the water ball had already begun to bubble on the inside, quickly bursting into a hot mass of searing water that pelted the fisherman on his arms and shoulders as he covered his face. There was a short moment of panic in his mind that led the royal blue Res he controlled to fly in front of him and expand into a flat form of oozy puddy, only to poorly blockade the lower half of his body from the splash effect of the scalding water before him. In turn the burning sensations only lasted for a moment, but in doing so he lost grasp of control to where the Res he created just flopped onto the ground. Lifeless as though no more will could give it motion, the Res only remained in place with both water and ooze concentration as the fisherman nearly tried to retaliate.

It was a retaliation that only led one to question the motive, why it was that somebody would've done such an action for whatever reason. This retaliation of course was only cut off by the man himself, as though he were suddenly bitter about the words Ricky had chosen earlier. "De petch?!" He murmured as he raised his eyebrows in an alarmed expression, already lost at how Clyde could've figured Ricky hinted he was a superior to him only by the amount of years between them. Since when did that come into relevance with the whole learning subject? Clearly there was a huge misunderstanding that led the mage to react so suddenly, and there wasn't much time nor chance to really explain much either. "Now 'old on-" Just like that he was already being told what to do, all the while Clyde walked off infuriated all on his own by the clear misunderstanding at what Ricky had hinted at. Sure enough the fisherman could've tried and stopped him, but what good would that have done? Generally when one was suddenly pissed off, especially if they're a mage, you leave them be until they finally cooled down.

In this case there wasn't much of a choice. And so Ricky sighed and wished he'd been a bit more clearer in his point, thinking over his words and how he should've better complimented the fact Clyde taught him well. In turn he regathered his Res into a sphere and pulled it back within him, the ooze turned into a gassy like substance as it entered through the fingertips. Even then the transition of returning Res felt different than that, if felt good as though pressure and weariness were already being worn off. Even if such things were light and practically hardly noteworthy, it was never really noticed at how much exertion one put in until finally the Res was retreated back into the body. With the most of his partial amount of expended Djed restored, Ricky finally decided to grab the coat he placed on the ground and head home. Still contemplative on things he dwelt on what he'd learned today, as well as how he could somehow make it up to Clyde later on.
