Sometimes, I get ridiculously frustrated by people.
I'm going to rant. This is a rant warning. Edit: Also, vulgarity. I'm really sorry. I got impassioned. ><
There are people in this world who will not like you, and there are people in this world who will like you. I find it absolutely ridiculous when people take the fact someone dislikes them to such a level that they act out on it.
Like, HOLY SHIT.
I was in chat one day, and a person in there was whining (if you start talking about how someone dislikes you and how you find their reasons petty, you're probably whining) about how a well-known player, a moderator, disliked them because this person didn't like horses.
On top of that, they were saying that they had the temptation to play a character who killed horses in Cyphrus, just for it.
What the fuck? What the actual fuck? This has bothered me for the last few days and prompted this post, because I find it so ridiculous that someone takes the opinion of another player they've never met so seriously. No, it's alright to want to be liked. It's alright to want people to like you. It's alright to plot about being a horse killer.
It's not alright to do it for entirely selfish reasons.
IF SOMEONE DOES NOT LIKE YOU, ACKNOWLEDGE THAT IT'S PROBABLY BECAUSE YOU AREN'T THEIR TYPE AND MOVE ON.
Frankly, she probably dislikes you because you're really fucking petty, or there is an aspect of your personality that she's not responding to favourably. Don't dig yourself a ditch by being a bitch.
If someone's going to call you out for trying to cheat the system, for misleading new players, or for generally being a dickhead in private, acknowledge you've made a mistake, correct it, and move on. I really dislike those people who see the fact someone dislikes them personally as a reason to leave the site. I dislike the people who do shitty things and then get shitty responses and then decide to make more shitty decisions by whining about the shitty responses until they get called out on it. Then, they leave, and I salute their departure. We are better off with less shit.
I have a high horse, I really do, but I feel like I can manage mine. If your horse is too fucking tall for you, or you can't dismount your soapbox long enough to clear the shit out of your system, you probably need a really long break. People are going to dislike you for any number of things. Fuck, if someone dislikes you for not liking horses, prove that you're a good person to yourself and don't bother talking to them. Just let it go. You'll win some and you'll lose some. Is it really so damn hard to not make an ass of yourself?
Don't be a little shit and we won't make it a big shit.
