65th of Fall, 514.

"Woah!" Fist's punch came too fast for the squirrel to even see, and before he knew it, the grey Pycon had slammed into the squirrel with such force, he felt like a bit of his clay might have fallen off. As he tumbled into the dirt, the giant hand that made up the entirety of the female Pycon's head unraveled from its fist to reveal a dark scowl. She always wore a scowl - which was always slightly deformed because her face seemed to be at an odd angle. But today it was deeper than usual. He could tell because of the way she simply stared at him, while he recovered and rose back to his feet. Still a little unsteady, because the majority of his torso had been imprinted with the very obvious designs of knuckles left over from the incredibly powerful punch, the female Pycon shook one stubby hand and sighed.

"You need to work more on your punching power." The few hits that he'd actually managed to land on the other Pycon had barely made a dent in her thick clay - and that was saying something, because with all of the clay that moved around her body at such an alarming pace, all the way down to the tips of her fingers, there should be barely any clay in her. How could she continue to withstand such hard hits, with such little clay left in her body? It should have sunk straight through her, but it didn't. "Anyway. I think that's it for the evening." They'd been going at it for nearly two bells, but made little headway. Perhaps it was just the fact that the squirrel had already been tired out from the early morning filled with sparring with his patron. And then, in the afternoon, all of this. Or maybe it was that during all of these fights.. he'd never had anything balanced.

His patron, Ser Iros, had gone over and over again against Archailist with two distinct weapons. The Lakan, and the spear. Neither of these weapons was suitable for fighting a creature barely a few inches off the ground, and although the Akalak was very competent in his use of them, they still were little match for the squirrels dexterity. Occasionally, he was caught off-guard. But apart from that, there was little to their matches other than repeated stabbing and missing. There wasn't anything wrong with the Akalak's use of the weapons, far from it, but they were simply.. bad weapons, in the Pycons personal opinion. Many of the other opponents he'd faced during his current training had just abandoned all other weapons and gone with their bare hands and feet. Conversely, Hammer Fist was entirely too strong. She knocked over the squirrel again and again with little effort to her practice and although she was a fantastic teacher by all records, it still felt frustrating to be beaten down over and over, thanks to the very distinct differences in their ability.

For once, he wanted a balanced fight. Where he and his opponent would be equally matched, and they would really have to work to gain victory. Where there would be an equal chance of victory, in either of them. That was what he wanted. And that want, for a moment, overcame his exhaustion as he glanced around the Pits and surveyed the few people fighting and sparring. Some wrestling, some practicing unarmed combat with arms and legs, but most of them were using weapons. Big, heavy weapons - even the small ones were heavy to the Pycon. It didn't matter. With Fist returning to her station at the far end of the courtyard, the squirrel found himself free to begin wandering between the various people, rather aimlessly, in search of a worthy opponent.

He could still feel the comforting touch of the Py-String stored within his clay.. and the looming presence of his Py-Pole left at the corner. He'd been briefly working with both of them throughout the morning, although there was still plenty to be improved on with both. Fist was able to parry most of his attacks and those that she couldn't, her acrobatic talent made her too fast to be able to hit. Not that she could hit him, though, either. It wasn't a stalemate, but neither of them was really pushing far enough in the right direction to make a consistent victory. An odd stance, but one that he found somewhat comforting, when compared to when they went against each-other in unarmed combat.

65th of Autumn, 514 AV

Aventis had been enjoying a repose quietly in the Anthonious Fighter's Pits, leaning against a far wall with his rapier strapped loosely to his waist, waiting for an ample opportunity to gain some skills. The pits, today, weren't bustling, but there were a few skilled fighters in the area, all of which intimidated Aventis to no end. They were all strong, and seemed heavily experienced. They all looked like they had been doing this from a very young age. Fighting, that is. They all looked like they knew exactly what they were doing. They were all confident in their skills and abilities.

Aventis was not.

He took his time, scoping out competition. There were, as stated, many skilled fighters to challenge, yet unfortunately all with different areas of expertise. This did not sit well with Aventis, seeing as he had no knowledge of different types of fighters. There were light, leather armor and shortsword fighters as well as unarmed and heavy armored fighters... And Aventis would lose to any of them.

He sighed deeply, untl something queer piqued his attention.

There was a squirrel.

A gods-be-damned squirrel.

Fighting a Pycon.

Aventis made no effort to hide his vacant stare of disbelief, slightly incredulous to the situation. He watched as the squirrel got decked in the stomach by the Pycon, unable to comprehend what was happening.

He stood there like this until the battle had ended, and even afterwards unsure of what had transpired. A brawl? A Kelvic getting beaten? Animal cruelty? It was a fairly even fight... So the squirrel had to be sentient... But then...

Aventis' attempts to make sense of the situation only confused him further. Perhaps he should just go ask...

He had met the Pycon squirrel before, he wasn't keen on meeting him again on the battlefield. He watched for the first part of Arch's training, getting his bearings for if and when they fight again. He speed and power were two things he was lacking, Hammer Fist had both and skill to use that speed and strength. If he ever wanted to fight on even grounds with Arch, he could either find some way to shrink down to Pycon size or train up so his weaknesses were not so exploitable.

That was when he thought up of a plan. He when over to the training dummies, and decided to train for a while, just until Arch was done with his training with Hammer Fist.

It had been a while since he had come here in the pits, the seasoned fighters here was a nice contrast to the greenhorn squires in the training grounds. He took up positions on the training dummies, attacking in quick succession, he wasn't wearing his full-plate armor today, he had a free day to train however he wants, as long as he trains. He didn't have his shield with him either, just his regular clothes and his sword. He had his left foot forward while he held his sword with two hands. He had his right hand holding up to the guard of his sword, while his left hand held the sword by the the pommel.

He swung his sword with a lot of force and then his followed up with a kick to the side of the head. He stepped back and went in with a fast diagonal attack, followed an elbow to the neck. He had started his own style of fighting, mixing his sword skill with his fists and kicks. He was far from perfecting it, and he wasn't sure if it would catch on, but it was good practice for his limbs to be more limber in a fight.

After a bell or so, Arch was finished with his sparring with Hammer Fist. Now he needed someone to help him fight Arch, it seemed like s
he didn't get much in the way of fighting.

He saw someone watching a fight, he seemed strong and the disbelief in his face showed that he was new to Arch's chosen form. He walked up to the cloaked four-armed warrior. "Excuse me? Would you like to join me in a bit of fun? It would be good training."

My Words | Your Words | My Thoughts

The squirrel didn't have to walk very far until he caught sight of Garland. Now, there was a face he could remember pretty well.. the squire he'd been teamed up against in the Grounds, only for the boy to be dragged off by his own patron after almost completely humiliating himself in the speed at which he'd come to defeat. Funny, that they should meet again.. especially when the Pycon still held inside of his body the same loop of string he'd used the previous time they'd met. He didn't have a clue about the other person that he was speaking with, but that didn't matter - the squirrel all but ignored the unfamiliar man in favor of turning to Garland and passing a rather wide grin - wider than should have been normal, considering the fact that he wasn't restrained by lips or cheeks. "Oh.. hello Garland. What a surprise, to see you here.." He had no interest in fighting the man, of course.. the last time, it'd just ended up horribly for one of them. He wasn't a cruel squirrel.

That didn't mean that he was going to miss on the opportunity just to prod him a little bit. "Guessing you're here to practice with someone more to your speed, as opposed to me.. speed being literal in this case." Even as tiny as he was, he still had no problem mouthing off to creatures that were, in essence, well over several times his size. Garland should have been able to crush him under foot, and likely would have several times during their previous fight together, if not for what the squirrel now taunted him with - speed. "Don't know how you plan to do it without that big shield of yours, but.. hey, it's your loss." He couldn't possibly imagine his Akalak patron going about his business without his shield, and these opinions quickly turned to the other larger folk. They were all so large, so slow.. it was a miracle that they didn't cause serious injury to themselves whenever they fell over.

Through all the taunting, out of the corners of his lidless eyes, he watched the other one. He'd been part of the small few that'd stopped in their way to watch the two Pycons battling, and exactly what he thought of such a thing was pretty well plastered over his face. He could make a good partner.. but then, the squirrel wasn't so sure. Usually it was those less-skilled in their weapons that were astonished by the rather simple exercises he went through with Fist. His unarmed combat skills were barely even close to the other Pycon, after all.

"My Speaking" My Thoughts

Ball has decided today would be a good day to go and check out the Fighters Pits, he had intended to only observe as the knighthood had it's own dedicated training facility on top the fortress itself, yet when he stepped foot into the locale his eyes fell upon three squires, two of which he recognized, the other he had only heard of being a part of the order in recent days. Imass had decided it would be safer for his furry arse to remain outside, on “guard” as it were. It wasn't hard to see that the two newer squires were about to getting their arses handed to them, the squire they spoke with was none other than that snarky speedy little squirrel.

So he stepped forward, clearing his throat and looking at the trio, “Tell ya what Squirrel Pycon. Why not face all three of us?” A smirk traced his lips, “Yeah I find that should be fair enough. Speed has no factor or bearing in a fight if we get the first attack.”

And it lands. He motioned for the other two to come closer to him and when they crouched close Ball smirked, ”Here's the plan...” He motioned for them to get closer, his plan was a simple one, but it provided that they both were real close for it to work, after all Ball stood only three inches tall. When they were both as close as they could possibly get while looking utterly humiliated Ball smacked them both in the back of their heads, ”Are ya both dense? He is going to eat you two alive and make you cry before you can put him down.” He poked Garland hard, ”Swinging that sword is going to get you killed, keep it close, play defensively.” Ball turned to the other guy, ”I don't have a clue what you are even capable of doing combat wise, so I suggest just standing back some okay? If you both want to help, do it together, as a team. Okay?”

The squire looked at the squirrel, ”Screw it, we are going to do this as a team.” He pointed at Garland, ”You take his right.” Looking at Aventis, ”You take his left. I want you both to pin him against a wall, his back will be cornered, nowhere to run but up. Leave the front and his verticals to me.”

Looking at Squirrel Pycon, ”Ready?”

As Ball is getting closer and closer to maxing out Pyken as a skill, I would like to request that in places where Ball is not doing enough to constitute Pyken XP if Pyken technique lores could be issued instead.

Examples of proper XP level for Pyken would be: Ball developing or refining his technique by adding new thing against an actual moving target, not a dummy.

The use of basic skills alone are not enough to accomplish XP at Ball's current level of Pyken.

Thank you.

"Excuse me?" Aventis heard. He turned, face to face (or a little above) with an impressively muscular man, who he didn't hear approach him. "Would you like to join me in a bit of fun? It would be good training." he said.

Aventis remained silent for a moment, assessing the situation. There were pros and cons to weigh. Con: He was sure he wasn't strong enough to keep up with any fighter here. Hell, even that squirrel could kick his ass. And if this guy wanted to spar, Aventis probably wouldn't be able to see on account of his two black eyes. Pro: He, above all else, was here to learn, and learn he should. Even if it means he gets hurt... Profusely.

Aventis concluded that whatever the bulky man had in mind, he would do.

""Listening..." Aventis responded, careful not to seem to interested or too disinterested.

As he was focused on the bulky knight, he heard another voice, significantly lower than that of the bulky man's.

"Oh.. Hello, Garland." It said. Garland. The bulky man, then. That was his name. Noted. "What a surprise, to see you here..." It said, perhaps a bit menacingly, teasingly. Hardly decent of the stranger. Aventis looked down to see the speaker and almost fell over.

A squirrel. The squirrel, to be more precise.

It talks.

"Guessing you're here to practice with someone more to your speed, as opposed to me.. speed being literal in this case." It continued, successfully dragging Aventis into the situation. "Don't know how you plan to do it without that big shield of yours, but.. hey, it's your loss."

"Hey..." Aventis said to the man, who may or have may not been upset. It was hard to tell. "Wanna' take this rodent down? If the lump of clay with a bloated fist could... We can try. To say the least."

Just as he finished his statement, probably the strangest thing he had ever seen approached them. Aventis noticed it and immediately recognized him as a Pycon. “Tell ya what Squirrel Pycon. Why not face all three of us?” He... She... It said to the collective three of us, a grin stretching across his clay face. It was about here where Aventis felt particularly lost. He wasn't exactly sure of what was happening and more than likely had the dumbest look on his face.

Yeah I find that should be fair enough. Speed has no factor or bearing in a fight if we get the first attack." The Pycon continued, motioning for Aventis and the bulky Garland figure to follow. At this point, Aventis was already trapped in the situation, there was really no reason not to follow the Pycon. He followed the lead of Garland, crouching down with the Pycon, still not being able to reach his height. ”Are ya both dense?" The Pycon asked. He obviously wasn't looking for a response so Aventis said nothing. "He is going to eat you two alive and make you cry before you can put him down.

"Alright... Then... What do you suggest?" Aventis asked the Pycon. He was obviously knowledgeable in the subject, and it would be a tad painful to get him mad. Respect would be wise.

The Pycon poked Garland. "Swinging that sword is going to get you killed, keep it close, play defensively." He said, then moving to address Aventis. "I don't have a clue what you are even capable of doing combat wise, so I suggest just standing back some okay?" Seemed reasonable. "If you both want to help, do it together, as a team. Okay?" He finished. It was then Aventis stood, stretching out, drawing his rapier, and shedding his coat, shamelessly revealing his arms, which was uncharacteristic, but hey, when in Rome.

He looked back to Garland and shrugged. "Screw it, we are doing this as a team." Said the Pycon.

I thought we were already...

The Pycon pointed at Garland. " You take his right," and then pointed at Aventis "You take his left." Aventis nodded in understanding, getting himself ready."I want you both to pin him against a wall, his back will be cornered, nowhere to run but up. Leave the front and his verticals to me.

The Pycon addressed the squirrel. "Ready?"

"Ball? Well... Looks like we have a better chance of surviving now." He gave a small side comment and followed Ball's lead. "Hey, four arms. What's your name, I wanna know the guy that helped me take down Arch." He snapped back to attention, and listened to Ball's plan.

"OK. Remember to not make him climb up your leg, after that its game over." He said to Aventis. He turned his attention back to Ball. "Right, sounds like a solid plan." As they left their little team huddle. He quickly got into position, gripping his sword with two hands.

As soon as the match started, he kept his eye on Arch, he kept a good distance away from him, waiting for Aventis to attack, if he did, he would follow, trapping Arch to either run forward or dodge back. Either way would work, because it would mean he would be closer to the wall.

He looked at Ball, hoping that this plan would work. He took the advice to heart, and held up his defense close. He really didn't want a repeat of what happened last time.

He was really impressed with Aventis. He was big, but he looked skilled enough to use more than one rapier. Hopefully that would help with the fight if he had another weapon, but one could still be as useful as two. Then again knowing Arch, he actually saw his height as an advantage.

My Words | Your Words | My Thoughts

Things were moving very quickly. What had originally been, the squirrel had thought, a fight between himself and Garland had immediately grown to include not only the gangly man he'd been standing with, but the smaller, more familiar Pycon Ball. This was beginning to get dangerous - while they all grouped together and began forming a plan, and while they took the time to openly taunt him, he took a back-seat and surveyed what would be his next three opponents. Fighting all three of them at once would be hard, of course - it'd be incredibly difficult, even if he did manage to do everything perfectly. His lidless eyes scanned especially long over the tall one. He could either be a major influence in the course of the battle, or he could be nothing at all. Archailist didn't know, either way. He'd never seen the man, never heard about him, didn't know and couldn't know about his fighting style. He could only run off what he could tell by looking at him, and all that told him was that Arch had a pretty good chance. He was tall, which meant a good hit to the ankle or the back of the knee would likely send him falling.

Garland. Arch knew about him. A hothead without much sense to where he threw his sword, slow and clumsy, quick to make the first mistake but still stubborn and able to take more than a few punches given his size. If anyone was going to take the first hit, it'd be him. If anything, the squirrel could potentially use him as a blockade - a bridge to climb, to clear some ground between himself and Ball, as well as a shield to hide behind should he need to from the other man. That just left the one that he was really dreading.. Ball.

A Pycon like him, which was the first thing he didn't like about Ball. He was also smaller, likely lighter because of that. Fast, and with a pretty powerful reputation for his punches being able to dent metal. Normally, that wouldn't concern Arch.. but given the fact that he was quite a bit smaller, that meant a lot. I don't want to end up on the receiving end of those punches. Which means that I'm going to have to clear the area before I try to take him on head-to-head. As long as I keep the distance, I should be fine.

By the time he'd taken stance of all three of them, Ball had turned back and the other two weren't that far behind. Left, right, middle. Alright then. The squirrel sighed, rolled his shoulders, and calmed himself while they took up their defensive. Garland stood to the right - the first target. The tall one to the left - second target. Ball was in the middle, bridging the two and ensuring that once he took one, he'd have to find a way around the little lump if he was going to clear out the two larger ones. This could be problematic. He'd find a way around it though, hopefully before he ended up fighting two on one. He didn't want that, no no. "You want to fight three on one, you got it.. just don't expect me to tickle." This wasn't going to be like the other fights he'd gone through with Garland, or around the Training Grounds. He wasn't going to give a punch and let them get back up again after it.

That was about all the warning they got, as he turned and dug his claws into the sand of the Fighters Pit, hard. He didn't care which one of the three before him attacked first - his target was Garland and those meaty ankles. However, he didn't go to all-fours. His upper body leaned forwards, arms throwing themselves forwards inches above the ground but barely even skimming it as his legs powered him forwards and straight for the point between his feet. The wall was drawing close to his side, but he wasn't focusing on that. His eyes were constantly darting between the tall one, Ball and Garland - always keeping the other two in his peripheral vision when he looked at one, and trying his best to follow their movements at once. He was fully expecting attacks from both Garland and the tall one.. but not Ball, of course. There was still a fair distance between the two Pycon, and considering Ball's smaller stride, Arch knew that the squirrel could outrun the strange little humanoid. As long as there was distance, he was safe.

"My Speaking" My Thoughts

As soon as Archie turned and took into a lunging attack on Garland's ankles did Ball move, it wasn't towards Garland in a guard, nor was it at other pycon in an attempt to deflect the attack... It was at Aventis. Ball's move was a simple one, and it was going to provide some swelling for Aventis... It was the back muscle of the human's legs, just about where the man's kneecaps and muscles met. The attack was truly a blindsided move, but the pycon knew if he didn't use his 'walls' to his advantage the squirrel shaped squire was going to have the upper hand.

Garland already was a lost cause, Ball saw that as soon as Archie went for him, Aventis though was probably going to hate Ball for this, but the attack (if successful) would take the rebounding motion away from Archie and once the squirrel was hampered by Garland's weight crashing to the ground (after all losing support in one's ankles while wearing plate does that to a person.) Ball had only to worry about the towering height that was the new guy with a rapier.

Even if Aventis didn't fall from the attack Ball was sure he would be off balance, thus forcing Archie's hand anyway to a different position, and Ball would already be sliding through the air and connecting with the wall behind the squirrel and coming back at the pycon acrobatic.

The same above would also occur even with Ball completely missing Aventis, but if that was the case Ball had a feeling the tables would turn and it would still be three-on-one... With him being the odd man out.

"Ball? Well... Looks like we have a better chance of surviving now." He heard Garland tell himself, no doubt referring to the rounded Pycon.

"Make sure not to let him climb up your leg," Garland said to Aventis. "after that it's game over."

Duly noted... He thought to himself.

As the three of them, Ball, Garland, and Aventis, readied themselves for what Aventis assumed to be a light spar, the squirrel, who in Aventis' opinion was over-hyped, was also readying himself. He couldn't tell what the strange little animal was thinking, seeing as Aventis has never read a squirrel's face before, so he could only assume that the squirrel was watching the collective three of them, probably with focus on Ball considering that the second the squirrel stopped being cocky was when Ball walked up. Aventis was the odd man out. He knew that. The squirrel had already fought Garland, which Aventis knew from the taunting. He had already fought, or had reason to fear, Ball. With that information, he could fairly safely assume that the squirrel would run straight up that bulky sword of Garland's, eat his face, and then go for him. So, maybe a premature attack to try to save Garland... He would thrust at the squirrel, the squirrel would dodge, Garland would miss, the squirrel would turn around and make another move on Garland, finish him, jump or run off towards him. At that point, Aventis would be in a different position, and the squirrel would have Ball to deal with.

Perfect.

This was going to work out perfectly. The squirrel rolled its shoulders and calmed itself. "You want to fight three on one, you got it.. just don't expect me to tickle." And with that, ran directly at Garland, just as predicted. Aventis, as a premature strike, thrusted his rapier exactly to where he thought the squirrel would attack. He had full faith in his abilities. Until he felt a shooting pain go straight up his leg directly after the strike. Aventis wasn't sure where it came from, but couldn't make guesses. He fell to one knee, his strong hand with the rapier flat against the ground while the other three kept him up in an effort not to get completely mauled by the squirrel. His leg was throbbing, aching, and he could feel the pain straight up to his lower back.

But that is no reason to end a fight.

Aventis, using every ounce of strength he could muster, pushed himself up into kneeling position, and grimaced as his leg moved.

I have to get up quickly...

By now Aventis had concluded that the only logical culprit was Ball. Strong little petcher. He would have a word with Mr. Ball after the match.

Quickly, Aventis stood again, about a foot away from where he was previously. He choked back a scream, tears streaming from his eyes, but he stood. And he stood strong. He held his weapon at the ready, waiting for another hit. He was ready.
