Within the cavernous tunnels of Wind Reach, two outcasts meet on their way to the Dreaming Lady...
Now, as far as I'm concerned I suck at giving reviews, but I had a blast reading this thread, so I'm going to try my best at doing it the justice it deserves.
Our story begins when Zhol, a human Avora, runs into Drusilla, a clothes-making Symenstra. It was interesting to see just how much they shared in common with one another; as a matter of fact, it wasn't until recently that looked up the race relations within Wind Reach and discovered that Inartans have a particular, justified hatred of Symenstras. So here Drusilla is, managing to make a living in a place where she's not wanted. Then add in our human friend, who seems to feel as though he's never truly belonged, taking his pretty sad past into consideration.
Every post was emotionally engaging, and hot damn you guys sure know that you can write. Seriously. The writing was beautiful. I loved how they taught each other bits and pieces of their languages, exchanging meaningful words and phrases and sounding them out to get used to them. Zhol's inner struggle, if I can call it that, was really interesting to see play out; he terribly misses his home and is plagued forever by his banishment, but wants to convince himself that he doesn't need it, or his family, anymore.
Meanwhile, Dru has her own depressing past to deal with, which is another thing that made it all such a great read; the backstories! I knew nothing about either character before I read it, but now I've got little smidgeons of their pasts in my head, and I want to find out more (looks like you've got yourselves a thread-stalker, guys!)
Gah, it was just...a solemn but sweet thread, since they've become friends, now, and Dru's basically adopted Zhol as her brother, and the hug and...
The feels. It nearly physically hurt me.
I'm sorry, I'm all over the place. I've never done any of these, before, but I hope my opinion's at least clear. It was a fantastic thread, full of wonderful writing and a blossoming friendship that I bet only grew more with more threads.
Keep writing, you guys. AND IF I DON'T MANAGE TO FIND SOMETHING ABOUT THAT DINNER PARTY, I'M COMING AFTER BOTH OF YOU.
Oh, and thanks for helping to keep Wind Reach alive. 'Tis a small city, and it needs all the lovin' it can get. c:
