I doubt any of us thought you were just sitting around doing nothing, lol. You're an excellent ST. ^_^

Also spearback(s?) are cool. Something else to murder us, yay!

Woo! The Spearbacks look great. Hopefully we'll be able to see them soon! I
And great for the Caiyha thread. Love all the work so far, and can't wait to see whatever else you're hiding for the Sea of Grass.

I’m driving up to the beach-house for the long weekend so I won’t be on for the next three nights. Though I do have internet at the beach I also have a lot of fishing, drinking, and relaxing to do! So other than checking PMs and grading the Caiyha thread like I promised I won’t be making myself very available, apologies in advance.

See you all Monday! Don't burn the tall grass down while I'm gone.

Spent a good two hunters updating this part of the link map and it is fully functioning now.

The Spit Fire

Please note the messages to graders and players in this location; they will help determine how much money you make for the meat of a kill you decide to sell. Hunting is the only profession who cannot sell their meat to The Spit Fire as they are already paid to ‘hunt’ as part of their jobs. They can, however, still pay to have their pelts tanned and keep those pelts as a result.

I’m going to say it here once for those of you who are too lazy to read the update. 1. You cannot sell pelts to The Spit Fire unless 1a, they’re of ‘excellent’ quality, and 1b, they will not pay more than it cost to get that pelt tanned so there will be no abusing the system.

Now graders know exactly what to reward and players know what they can buy, enjoy!

If you have any questions or concerns, or something you would like to see added, please post them below or send me a pRivate Message.

It has some to my attention that many of you are confused about what kind of animals there are to be found in the Sea of Grass, and for a long time it has gone unchecked so I don’t blame any of you for the current misunderstandings at all! But I thought it would be a good idea to go over our (Goss and I) vision for the area as a whole.

Some of us think this is Africa take two and others like the feel of the Old West, America. I am happy to point out that it is much closer to the latter folks. You won’t find any giraffes roaming the plans, but below is a fairly comprehensive list of what you might run into on a hunting trip! (Don't forget Hunting cats and horses!).

There are many different types of birds including Ducks, Ravens, Eagles, Hawks, etc. Land animals such as the Squirrel, Snake (venomous and nonvenomous), Rabbit, Mink, Skunk, Raccoon, Otter, Beaver, Fox, Coyote, Goat, Bobcat, Wolf, Boar, Deer, Elk, Caribou, Moose, Bison, Zibri, Yak, Spearback, Ixam, Nightlion, Grass Bear, Olidosapux, and Glassbeak; and finally, sea animals, including but not limited to, Turtles, Sea Lions, and Elephant Seals.

Of course we have our special animals, the Spearback, Glassbeak, etc that are unique to Mizahar, and I think we will always have more room for those, so if you have some ideas, please let me know, I’d love to morph a mountain lion with something else! I will be starting work on a list for Endrykas / Sea of Grass with pictures and info breakdowns by winter! Any questions? You’ve come to the right place.

[OOC thread] Moving with the Herd

Postby Kaitanu on October 27th, 2015, 10:17 am

Oh, good...I was writing the Sea of Grass as though it was the plains of the West and Mid-Western United States. No one ever corrected me, but I wasn't always sure if I was right. I stuck to things like foxes and weasels, and birds like burrowing owls and pheasants and such. Still not sure what nightlions and grassbears are, though. Hope to hunt several things as the seasons go on, or just see them pass by.

Anyway, thanks to our wonderful mods we have a lot of info and such to work with, plus fun events (sadly missed the Caiyha one, but I wasn't sure Kai was ready for something like that anyway). Keep up the good work. You guys are awesome! Thank you for all the time and effort you put into this world! It makes me think about how things work :D

Speaking of which, I've been wondering about exactly how the tents work. Looking at yurts and tipis and such I've seen a few different methods, but I've never been exactly sure how Drykas tents work with and against the weather. It's mentioned that webbing is involved in keeping the tents, and even the outside/central pavilion fire, safe from the weather. When things get really bad, how well does the webbing work? Would someone not used to such things notice that their campsite, properly webbed, seems to be more or less unaffected by the weather? Does the temperature within the webbing remain at a certain level? Given the use of skins and blankets and such I assume that it's not a constant 72 degrees or anything like that, but I'm still trying to figure out how things work. With all the rain and snow and whatnot coming inquiring minds want to know!

Also, something that I've wondered about the migration patterns. Does everyone pack up and only move four times a year, or is it a constant thing? Like, every four weeks they move in that traditional clockwise motion, inching close to the next outsider city? If so, how often should we be roleplaying that we're moving on? And is food stored in tents protected by webbing, or is some stored in the ground in dugout pits? Does webbing protect from rodents taking the food, or is that up to the dogs/cats that the Drykas usually have in their camps?

Pardon me if these questions have already been answered. I tend to be somewhat thick. However, looking through the wiki and browsing the OOC threads and whatnot I've not been able to find what I was looking for. Also, I tend to over-think things.
