Clyde didn't much care for the city proper of Syliras. The cramped spaces, the mass of humanity, and the heavy knight patrols ready to immediately respond, all bothered him to varying degrees.

He'd much rather spend his time outside of the city, in the wilds and woods. Away from prying eyes, where he didn't feel persecuted. Where he didn't feel as if every innocuous action could bring down the unmerited wrath of a squad of knights. And if that happened he knew he'd be forced to do things, and things would get complicated.

Clyde was a mage, a fact that naturally drew the ire of the knighthood. Even when used for innocent reasons, or without harming anyone or anything. He'd grown up in Syliras, and from a young age had gone out in secret to practice his craft.

Now it felt a bit odd to do so as an adult, but it was the only way to gain the knights trust.

He'd heard tell of bandit problems, something that had been an issue for Syliras for years. Syliras had made the call for aid, and so Clyde had decided to answer. To visibly answer.

It was why he found himself somewhat wandering through the bronze woods, in search of knights and bandits. The bandits generally weren't to subtle, but neither were the knights on average. At the moment he was doing his best to stay stealthy, to not be seen by any bandits until the proper time. Namely when a squire of knight had seen the bandits, and was entering combat with them.

In this case his auristics was keenly of use, allowing him to understand motions and signs. If he saw a rustling in the brush, he sent out a tendril of auristical focus, and examined it. Mostly this turned out to be animals, but if it turned out to be a bandit or something else he'd have notice.

With Cha in hand, he felt no fear from anything or anyone that might be hiding in the woods, so long as he had a moment to respond.

"My Speaking" My Thoughts

70th of Fall 515AV

Ball was sent out ahead of the small grouping of knights he was tasked with joining. It wasn't that he was better at scouting, or they were too loud, Hai… The truth was it appeared they were scared of Ball, for some ungodly reason grown men wearing armour were scared of Ball. Serves them right. Squires talk too much. he grumbled, making no attempt to hide himself, truth be told Ball had no full grasp of Stealth as a tactic or technique for catching an enemy unseen. So when the bandits fell around him they had no idea they were contending with a member of the order, nor did Ball fully understand what they were until the weapons were made known. They had him and Imass surrounded, a small outcrop of rocks and boulders pinned him and his faithful mount from behind.

From what Ball could see there were four surrounding him, maybe more behind him but he couldn't see those. The ones he could see were wielding a variety of weaponry: swords, daggers, hammers, a couple of them were holding crudely crafted clubs in their off hands. Ball held no weapon, not that the three inch pycon needed it. Raising both his hands in the air he slid off his mount, “Look, why don't we settle this peacefully, you put the weapons down… I won't bust your faces out the back of your skull.” This was met with chuckles, at least one guffawed loudly behind him. Five. He shifted his eye to the right, looking over his shoulder and saw the one holding his belly, unaware of the dangerous position he was in, the man was just on the same level of ground as Ball near the outcrop. Right Back enemy, forward ankle. He shifted his attention back to the ones in front, just in time too as one of the club wielding bandits swung low and forward, Ball rolled backwards slowly, shifting his full body to the right as the club made a reverse in it's trajectory. As it got closer Ball pressed his feet against it, stopping it from using him like a child's toy, but also using it to rocket himself towards the Belly-Laughing Bandit.

It was a true shot to the man's ankle, hard and forced. With the connection the man's laughing became a yell of pain, as his ankle buckled outwardly and his heavy stomach pressed down on the sore joint. Ball jumped backwards, as he connected not wasting time and energy to continue the onslaught on that man, twisting his form the Pycon shifted his perception back to his main threat, the four in front.

He landed hard on the ground, his legs absorbing most of the impact and the pyken master had to squeeze them back into shape quickly as the first sword came forcefully downward towards him. He cringed at the idea of that sword connecting, it would cleave him in two. The Pycon was just quick enough to push off backwards, just outside of the swing of the blade before he landed softly on the ground on his back.

With the commotion of the bandits now taking their weapons and swinging at Ball, the pycon had no awareness of the world around him. This was combat. This is what he lived for. Imass scrambled close to the rocks, crouching low and whimpering as the bandits from behind threw themselves over the rocks and towards the pycon. He was outnumbers six to one (including the guy that was slowly getting up nursing a pretty banged up ankle). Once they were over the natural barriers that blocked them from Ball the dog scrambled up them, after being punched in the chest by an armour wearing knight the dog knew to take off. Ball was aware of it, but only briefly as his body registered the thumping of feet landing on the ground around him. This changed the game entirely. He should have ordered Imass to attack, but it was too late fear had sent the dog scurrying away.

The knights were no where to be seen, or heard. They were most likely too far away, or dealing with their own band of bandits.

As Ball is getting closer and closer to maxing out Pyken as a skill, I would like to request that in places where Ball is not doing enough to constitute Pyken XP if Pyken technique lores could be issued instead.

Examples of proper XP level for Pyken would be: Ball developing or refining his technique by adding new thing against an actual moving target, not a dummy.

The use of basic skills alone are not enough to accomplish XP at Ball's current level of Pyken.

Thank you.

[The Bronze Woods]Of Earth and Clay[Ball]

As Clyde wandered about, the first thing he noticed was sound. Sound of talking, or shouting, or fighting, Clyde wasn't sure which or if all. But it was sounds all the same. Resting a hand on the light hammer he kept tucked into his belt, Clyde kept his eyes open, searching for the source and heading in its vague direction.

Heading in the direction of the sound, the noise intensified. From the sounds Clyde heard, it indicated combat more likely than just talking or simple motion. He'd heard and observed enough fights to know their distinctive chaotic ways.

He hadn't been walking long when he saw motion, and tensed drawing the hammer from his belt, canting it up high over his shoulder for a toss. But when the motion cleared into a image he was confused to find a small dog racing across the ground. Clyde had not expected that.

Combining the noise of the likely fight, and pointing back in the direction the dog came from, it was easy enough for Clyde to navigate his way there. He took a step towards the dog but it simply growled and moved away. Clyde shrugged and headed of, making his way with haste towards the battle. He wasn't going to miss his chance, not when he'd spent days searching for just such a opportunity.

He tucked the hammer back into his belt, instead favoring Cha. After all, he actually had a vague notion of how to use her, unlike the hammer which he barely knew anything of using. This might not be the best time to learn.

As he finally made it to the source of the combat, Clyde took everything in quickly. His eyes were well trained and observant, and it didn't take him but a moment to understand what was going on.

A tiny being in the middle, surrounded by a group of unsavory types. Likely bandits from their apparel and state of dress and cleanliness.

Luckily for Clyde their attention was focused on the tiny thing. A pycon, if he recalled correctly. He'd met one in Zeltiva long ago, a tiny clay man of sorts. In that case he'd had a spar, and had almost stepped on the things head. It was difficult to fight something so small without outright stomping it.

These men however seemed to have been unable to simply stomp the being. Also one seemed to be nursing a leg or ankle, and seemed a bit more ticked off than the others.

Taking Cha in a two handed grip, he willed his res to extrude, focused his intent and mind and flowed it forth in a small amount out of her base and flowed it into the ground. Doing such was second nature for him, it hardly took more than a shard of his attention.

As he neared the bandit closest to him on his side of the circle turned, facing the new noise and threat. Clyde had been trying to sneak up, and thought the cover of their attention on the clay man would be enough, but apparently not. He neared with clear deadly intent, a short-sword in his hand held menacingly against the robed and staffed man. Clyde needed no more provocation or explanation.

With but his will alone he twisted a bit of the earth which was now soaked with his res, pushing and twisting and molding it into a tiny spike about as long as his hand, but as narrow as a stiletto blade.

He currently commanded the earth about him, a small patch about two feet in every direction. Not a lot, but with his skill more than enough. And he could always add more res if need came.

He flowed more res into the tiny formed spike, gaining utter control of it. Pressing more dirt in, hardening it to the consistency of stone.

Suddenly he lifted his staff off the ground, where he'd had it placed so as to directly extrude res into the soil. He used the motion as a gesture, perhaps an unneeded one but one Clyde enjoyed doing.

The small stone shiv burst upward out of the ground, sending a tiny puff of dirt and dust up as it did, launching straight upward at the man. His aim true, particularly at such close range, it found its target. The stone shiv went straight up, aimed at his chin and neck. It entered his neck with a tiny wet sound likely only audible to Clyde, and kept moving upward. It headed up, going through the neck and up along behind the chin, striking up with its speed further into his skull and finally entering his brain.

The man froze in his approach, his body tensing. He was likely already dead. However not wanting to make it known just yet he'd used magic to kill him, Clyde took Cha in a two handed grip and swiped a blow against the side of his head with her head, crashing a blunt blow into the mans head. From anyone looking who hadn't seen the Reimancy attack, or its roughly foot long darting projectile shiv, it would appear Clyde had knocked him out with one blow to the head as the man fell sideways and crashed limply into a pile.

Stepping over the man's body, Clyde rose his voice, getting the attention of all of the men even if he hadn't had it before.

“Excuse me, but has anyone lost a dog? I think I just saw one racing off, and it looked like it belongs to someone.”

Clyde's aim was as much to gain the men's attention, as it was to confuse them. And he hoped his odd question would do that just fine.

"My Speaking" My Thoughts

Ball only just registered the bandit falling to Clyde as a distant sound, the master pyken artist wasn't going to take his attention away from the blade before him, the bandit took note of Ball's narrowed escape backwards from the swiping blade, so to try and stop the pycon the bandit stepped forward, driving the blade's point forward. Yet the words that Clyde seemed to have distracted the bandit, and a few of his brothers in arms giving Ball a small advantage that the squired clay man was going to take advantage of.

As the blade was thrust forward Ball turned his body just as Clyde spoke, pressing the flat of his right hand against the blade and pushing it to his left just enough to twist and slide his body past the driving point. As his body twisted Ball's right hand pressed against the blade also proved to assist Ball in cross guarding his torso, not that his size would allow for much protection if the man was to place a well timed kick or punch. It wasn't this simplistic dodge that Ball had lined up though, as his right hand pressed against the cold blade Ball pulled the djed from the right arm as best as he could and started the channeling process to send the torrent of crashing djed to be redirected to the left arm, Ball was tensing his fingers, pressing and compacting the normally squishy clay into a more dense version of it. It wasn't until he shifted the blade forward that Ball placed his fingers into a spread out claw like format, the compacted clay gave his fingers a tense and rigid form to them that he brought up across his chest, as if to cross guard the opposite direction of his right hand, but the sudden swing out towards the blade's flat side was a clear indication of the reality that was about to occur.

Ball's redirection of his djed was focused, he could feel it boiling into his nexus, threatening to be released and Ball had to time it just right, as his left arm left his chest unprotected and started to proceed into the ninety degree angle at his elbow did Ball press the Fluxed djed to his forearm down into his fingertips. The clay tensed even more, the surging momentum of the djed flung his left arm harder in it's trajectory, coupled with the concurrent twisting of his body his fingertips connected with the cold steel of the blade. The shift in control from will to flux driven threw Ball forward faster than he anticipated, his fingertips hitting the blade sooner than he expected. The impact gave a jolt of resistance for just a mere tick before his fingertips embedded themselves into the steel, biting just enough into the metal to provide a strong hold that Ball used his twisting momentum of his body to rake the blade past him. It was this sudden raking pull of the blade that Ball used the distraction provided by Clyde. The outcome was not good for the bandit at all. The results though wasn't nice on Ball either, he could feel as his fingertips tore themselves into pieces as he raked the blade past his body, when he did release his hand the tips were blown outward, pain screamed back through his body into his nexus, but the rush of combat and the force of his djed just fueled his determination to stay.

Ball watched as the bandit was pulled forward, almost in shock before he realized it was going to be far too late. As soon as the bandit went to readjust his front leg to take in the extension of his arm moving forward, a move he wasn't expecting, Ball lunged forward. Using the redirection of his djed, this was a harder redirection a sense of disorientation rolled over Ball as he pulled from the surplus he pushed into his left arm via the art of Flux the pycon was able to turn his lunge into a rocket force.

His nexus started to pulse with an ache that Ball only minutely registered as he was feeling the power of his djed ebbing and flowing around his being at his own will, the djed was crying out to continue to use it in this manner to work its way into every clay particle, the pain though didn't come alone, it came with something far stronger... A feeling of being invincible and that he was able to stop whenever. A meek voice warned Ball of exploding, a faint memory of Nivel making explosion imagery with her hands darted into him nexus only to be squashed down by the feeling of invincibility that came with using Flux.

Ball's lunge was aimed at the man's chin, instead of the man's ankle, as was Ball's normal attack location. The shin was a far larger target, tougher bone but the fluxed influenced lunge gave Ball more momentum than he was use to having, in the short time though he was only about to roll himself into an oblong form, his arms and legs pressed together, his body was already pretty solidly streamlined beyond that.

Now, bones are not the same density or resistance ability as plate mail, and Ball has already dented plate mail armour, this bandit was going to regret not wearing armour on this mission. As soon as Ball connected with the man's shin there was an audible snapping and immediate burst of capillaries and blood vessels just underneath the skin, the muscle that surrounded the bone and gave the man's leg tore and gave way to the force of Ball. Yet the plasticity of Ball's composition and the length of space between target and origin denied him the ability to sever the full limb, he didn't have enough time to buildup momentum. Yet this devastating blow to the bandit's lower leg was enough to crumble the bandit to the ground with a scream of undeniable pain. As the man came crashing down Ball had only one real way to get away from him, he used what little momentum he had left and his arms to pull himself past the man's leg and therefore behind him, which he rolled to a rough skidding stop as he collided with a root of a nearby tree. Dazed from the results Ball laid there as the world around him started to slid back to a form of normalcy, his nexus craving the powerful desires and urge that came with the control of his djed as he just had. His left hand spasmed as he laid there staring upward unsure of the world around him.

[The Bronze Woods]Of Earth and Clay[Ball]

Postby Clyde Sullins on October 25th, 2015, 12:55 am

Shortly after arriving, Clyde saw that the tiny pycon wasn't completely defenseless. While he couldn't apparently take on half a dozen men at once, he was clearly a able fighter.

Clyde could have instantly killed the lot of them in one attack, but had felt it wiser to pick them off one by one. He could wing a few, take out one here, thus allowing more time for the pycon to feel saved and perhaps be more grateful. More importantly it would also likely hide his skill, since if he instantly killed them all with one of his full strength attacks it would be clear he was on par with a master.

Clyde did not want to reveal his abilities, not until he had to. Showing he was a Reimancer at all was something he was less than certain on doing. But now that he'd gotten himself into the fight, it was his only skill that could settle things.

However along with the mundane combat he saw the pycon deliver, he also felt a charge on the air. Not his own magic, he had long since learned to ignore it in his readings. But a feeling of djed on the air, of magic taking place nearby, that was clear to his refined aura sense.

While the magic wasn't being used on him, all djed left signs. Runoff and reverberations that could be picked up by the proper ear. In this case the djed being twisted and turned, magic, rang true as a low hum and bristle on his skin within his aura sensing.

Slamming Cha onto the ground, he mentally pictured the sound of the staff striking the dirt, a sweeping wave of sounds echoing outward. Focusing his djed he infused it into the imagined sweep of sound, and sent out a tendril towards each of the remaining men and the one Pycon. For a skilled Aurist reading half a dozen auras at once, particularly at the shallow level he was, was a simple matter.

It took but a moment to tell which one had the active use of magic. The pycon. If the magic use had been less recent it would have taken time and care to figure out which one was the personal mage, but with the djed still actively glowing in their body, still in use, it was clear he was using magic. Djed was normally constant and even across a body. When a person used personal magic it built up in clumps, in focused areas, which clearly gave one away as using magic.

What were the odds, Clyde pondered to himself, that he'd stumble across another mage?

While most of his body was a constant glow, a dim but slow burning flame, his left arm seemed to be aflame by comparison. Clearly that was where the magic was being used. From his own experience with mages of each variety, two came to mind. One was an old apprentice of his, who'd enhanced his bodies power with a magic called flux. Another was a more recent acquaintance who could rip bits of her astral body out and use it directly to fight with magic.

Since the pycon seemed to still be fighting physically, he assumed it was the flux, though he couldn't know for sure. It could also be some other third of fourth magic he wasn't familiar with, as he knew there were others. As he thought on he supposed it could also be morphing, a magic he'd learned only recently, which did deal in shifting ones body. And those were just the magics he personally knew of.

As soon as he'd figured out which one was using magic, he'd begun to focus more on that one, letting the others fade into his periphery. He was aware of the others, could tell where they were and where they stood, could see their sight in his aura vision even without looking, but he didn't bother to look any further.

He did however press on further into the pycon. It would take time though to learn more, at least with the amount of focus he was giving to his auristics. Most was focused on his surroundings, and on the bits of himself floating about in the soil and earth and stone. His res. He knew where it was as it was a part of him, even when not directly with him.

As the pycon release his magic there was a sudden surge of motion, of attack, but it ended with the bandit lying on the ground, injured severely in the area he'd been attack by appearances. The pycon in turn seemed also to be flat on his back, or perhaps simply dazed. Clyde wasn't sure if it was because the magic he'd used had truly been that potent, or if he was simply not very skilled in its use and so had been unduly drained by a simpler attack. Or, he reminded himself, some other third option in between.

As the pycon lay on the ground, and the bandit let out a scream of pain, the other four bandits were a bit uncertain. Both had just seen a ally be put down, and it was clear from their expression that their attention and intent was divided. Should they go after the clay man? Or the human? Or should they run and cut their losses, leaving their "allies" to fend for themselves. Of course should they flee and their allies win, they would be in serious trouble with their once allies.

Part of this was understood by Clyde by looking at their faces, expressions, and body positions. He was not only a mage, but also a skilled interrogator. He could read many visible signs, and understand their thought processes to a degree. Or so he assumed. Their was always the chance that their thoughts were completely different from the ones Clyde assumed.

If they weren't simple bandits, or were driven by another purpose, then his understanding would likely be far off. Likewise, if they feared something greater than the immediate threats, feared it more than death or imprisonment, then that also would likely make his understanding of their actions untrue.

Regardless of if he was right, the two of the four bandits closest to Clyde turned towards him. One began to come at him, while the other didn't move, but turned towards Clyde.

Lifting Cha off the ground once more, he mentally seized the stone shiv still lodged in the skull of the bandit he'd killed. With a mental twist the shiv exploded outward along with a small trail of blood and gore. Since the shiv was soaked in his res, he utterly knew where it was. Likewise since the bandits were locked within tendrils of his aura sight, he knew where they were positioned without a doubt.

Canting Cha in a small sideways gesture, the shiv shot off towards the bandit that had begun to walk towards him. He aimed the stone shiv directly for the bandits heart. However with the motion of the bandit and his focus split on other tasks, his aim wasn't true. Instead it landed a few inches lower than his target, impacting him in the gut. The bandit froze, a lance of pain through him, and clutched at the butt end of the shiv that protruded out of his gut. Unlike the first bandit the blow wasn't instantly fatal, but it would likely kill the man eventually if not treated immediately.

Since they were in the woods, this seemed unlikely.

Staring at the man facing him, and loud enough for the other two to hear, Clyde spoke force in his commanding tone again. Intimidation was another skill Clyde was well versed in, and even without his shows of attack and incapacitating men with nothing but a single blow, he was quite scary. Adding in what he'd done, along with the pycon, and he did not doubt they'd be feeling quite a good bit of fear.

“So, anyone ready to surrender, and preserve their life? I promise that if you toss down your weapon, and fall to your knees, you will be taken without harm. ”

Clyde paused for a moment, before continuing, having punctuated his words by a purposeful pause.

“However if you continue to try to kill myself and my friend here, we will be forced to do nasty things. You have three seconds to choose, before I assume you have turned down our generous offer.”

The pycon of course had never met Clyde before, and they had not agreed on anything, but it seemed the right thing to do to imply the pycon was in on the agreement, and would go along with it. If they assumed they'd planned the agreement out in advance, and knew each other, perhaps they'd be that much more uncertain of their chances.

"My Speaking" My Thoughts

The bandits paused, if only for a few ticks, before continuing their attacks on the duo. Of the six original bandits: one was dead, one was dying, and two were in enough pain they might as well just roll over and die – that left two. The fortunately for Ball who laid on the ground they decided to split apart and take on a single entity. The one closest to Clyde started to close in on Clyde, yet the one that was closest to Ball stared down at the squire with a huge shyke eating grin of amusement. He grumbled something about being as easy as squishing a bug as he lowered his weapon to his side and rose a boot above Ball.

Syna is being masked by my death. the pycon thought, his body twitched and a slight smirk rippled as the Pycon's body surged with renewed vigor. The boot came down fast on Ball, who was pushing off the ground with his left hand and turning his body to the right as the boot hammered down. With the boot's connection with ground Ball's left hand was pinned beneath the bandit's boot. Doing his best to ignore the sudden pain of having his hand smashed flat between dirt and boot the pyken master continued his roll, tearing off his hand in the process before coming to a stop on his feet and turning his attention to the bandit. It hadn't yet dawned on the fool that Ball was no longer trapped underneath his foot, it would be too late too for the bandit to take in that fact as Ball felt his best friend show itself when it came to combat – violence.

Tightening the clay of his remaining hand tightly Ball had his monocular vision zeroed in at one location. He wanted his hand back and was going to get it. Yet it was pinned beneath the large oaf's foot. Ball was still close enough to the man where he could kick the side of the man's foot and gain his attention that way, but that wasn't going to be suffice for Ball. This man tore a physical part of his body off and was going to deal with it. Tightening up the clay of his fist even more Ball rose it up and pulled it back as far as his limb could without losing tension and direction. As the arm was pulled back Ball pulled djed from his left arm, leaving it limp to his side. Red was the color that Ball was seeing in his vision and the man's ankle was easiest location to connect with currently. Thus making it the endpoint for Ball's fist.

The pyken artist could feel the djed draining from his left arm like water twirling quickly down a recently unplugged drain, it was flooding his nexus, swelling the euphoric feeling the pycon was relishing, even the ever growing nexus ache it was creating was a beautiful change of pace, the thrill and control he felt as he fluxed djed from one limb to another was just amazing. As the physical plasticity tension of his arm reached it's maximum efficiency the pycon release both djed and tension forward. Stepping with his fist's forward momentum to further add his physical five pounds of weight behind the quarter inch compact fist – the air around Ball's fist was forced out of the way giving the bandit only a brief chance to realize that pain was coming his way. The force of impact wasn't enough to entirely crush the man's ankle in it's entirety, but it was enough to crack the joint, shooting pain up the bandit's leg and buckling his weight down upon the injury.

The following results was the man's ankle buckled, his foot cocked outward, revealing Ball's hand to the pycon who reached out with what remained of his left arm outward, connecting with the hand and pulling it back into his being. There was a small bit of relaxation and feeling whole again that the Pycon paused for, but he wasn't done… Not even close.

The bandit slide to the ground, trying his best to cradle the injury he had just received, leaving him open in far more… delicate locations. Using the man's lack of surrounding attentions (injuries made good sources of distractions) Ball stepped between the man's legs, stopping only when he had no room to continue. It was here that the pycon artist once more pulled his right arm back. This time Ball shifted his hand into a smaller point, half the diameter of his fist's normal size, it had a rounded face, the biggest difference was that Ball didn't displace the mass that would normally much up his hand, instead he twisted, wadded and crammed the entire mass of his hand into that one impact point, packing as much of the clay into a small location as he could. Clyde did speak of doing nasty things to the bandits and Ball was going to honor those words. He smirked once more euphoria and violence merged together as Ball pulled djed from his left arm once more, it felt uncomfortably weaker now – the feeling faded as quickly as it came though as the flux's euphoria overtook his sense and the screaming urgency of Nivel's voice squeaking in his nexus to stop, that this was unnecessary… Dangerous… Staring Pycon won't you just shut up? I am not in danger of… Of blowing up. You are just too frightened of the power you wield..

He kept pulling at the djed in his left arm, it was becoming increasingly growing the nexus ache he had forming, it was becoming harder to ignore as he pushed his fist forward there was no room to step forward and thus he waited as late as he could to release the djed. The floodgates opened up, just before his fist connected with the sensitive junction between the bandit's legs, the djed that stormed his arm jolted it forward even hard and faster than was expected and the Pycon jerked forward with his arm as it connected with the flesh beneath clothing. There was a slight touch of resistance, even a bit of a cushioning Ball registered briefly before it exploded, there was an ungodly sound of pain that came from the bandit that quickly took to silence.

With the silence though came the fatigue of use. Exhaustion replaced the rush. The feeling of invincibility was replaced by a sense of pain. His nexus was roaring it's anger at the pycon, Syna's rays were painfully bright as the red of violence pulled its veil from Ball's eye and the colors of clear thinking replaced it.

Ball slumped to the ground, landing with a sound not much different than someone dropping a lump of clay onto a tabletop. The sounds of a wing of knights emerged from the direction Imass ran off earlier, these didn't help Ball's nexus ache any and if anything he wanted them to end.

Yet Clyde would easily see the wing of knights and a small furry dog coming around a copse to his left, as they saw the bandits they called out for all still alive or standing to put down their weapons. The dog was quick though to remove itself from the wing and locate Ball huddled tightly between the bandit's legs, trying his hardest to ignore the pain.

It was during this time that one of the knights stepped up to Clyde and spoke, “You there traveler. You okay there?” He gave pause enough for Clyde to respond before continuing, “I suggest that you come with us. We will take you back towards the city.” He motioned towards the pair of knights that stayed with the horses.

It was apparent that the others three were checking the bandits, both the dead, the living, and the dying.

OOCI think one more post from you Clyde should be enough to solidify this thread's end!

Graders Please Note :
As Ball is getting closer and closer to maxing out Pyken as a skill, I would like to request that in places where Ball is not doing enough to constitute Pyken XP if Pyken technique lores could be issued instead.

Examples of proper XP level for Pyken would be: Ball developing or refining his technique by adding new thing against an actual moving target, not a dummy.

The use of basic skills alone are not enough to accomplish XP at Ball's current level of Pyken.

Thank you.

I will be handling all Ball related posts on Mondays @ 1800 my time *

[The Bronze Woods]Of Earth and Clay[Ball]

Of the six bandits that had been there when they'd begun to fight, only two remained in a fighting state. One Clyde had killed instantly. A second was lying on the ground clutching a gut wound, likely soon to die. Another two had been taken out of commission by the pycon, both of which might recover eventually.

That left two bandits, one for each of them. It seemed a straightforward thing to Clyde. They'd just seen two thirds of their friends taken out by two men. It would be beyond foolhardy to then think to take them on one on one.

Then again, as Clyde thought to himself when the bandits moved towards each man to attack, bandits weren't well known for their intellect or logical thinking. Or, it seemed, their survival instinct.

He still had his aura sense stretched out to the living men and pycon, keeping them each within his awareness. He'd only been focused on the surface expression of the other mens aura, though he'd slowly been drilling down for a deeper knowledge of Ball's aura.

So when he felt the thrum of more magic, of djed, of the pycon using another spell, he saw the shifting of djed, the unsubtle movement of power from one limb to another.

He could see as one part cooled and dimmed, and another burned hotter and brighter. He could also feel something else, a strong feeling or emotion bubbling off of the pycon... Joy... Joy, pleasure, euphoria, whatever one wanted to call it. Clyde knew it from his own uses of magic, and knew for him to be picking it up it had to be a strong feeling. Likely an overpowering feeling for the clay man.

Likely it also meant the pycon was pushing himself, since if he was doing a small spell for his skill he'd not likely be feeling as much. A mage, in Clyde's experience, only felt this good, felt this much joy and pleasure from casting, when they were deep into their magic near the edge of their limits. In other words, near to overgiving if not already beginning to do so.

However as a portion of his mind noted this, along with noting the relative position of all focused within his aura sight, the rest of him noted some more mundane things.

The bandits were distracted by their last foes. The pycon was distracted by his magic. But Clyde could hear the sound of horses, of shifting metal, of knights approaching.

Not wanting to show his magic to so many knights, Clyde drew his res back in from the ground, letting it flow quickly and quietly back into the base of Cha. It took but a few moments with his skill to withdraw such a small mass of res.

As the bandit neared, and no longer needing Cha to be in contact with the ground for use of exuding or reabsorbing res, he took it up, and swung it in a two handed batting motion at the bandit. His staff was longer than the mans small wooden club, and so he could keep him out of reach while smacking him. This strike hit the man in the shoulder, rebounding back off but clearly causing some pain at the impact.

The bandit, rage on his face, tried to push forward at Clyde, but Clyde simply made a thrusting push with Cha's head at the bandits chest, pushing him back with another sharp stinging blow. Clyde didn't have to win, he just had to fight off the bandit long enough for the knights to arrive and assume he'd been fighting as such the entire time.

Surely they'd think the two he'd killed had just fallen on a outgrowth of rock or something, since with their being in a mountainous region rock and stone wasn't uncommon.

Clyde was by no means a master of fighting with a staff, but neither was this bandit a master of combat, and it seemed if nothing else the skill he had and the range advantage the staff gave was giving him the upper hand.

As the bandit stepped back, trying to move out of range, Clyde stepped forward into another swing. This time he hit the man right in the elbow, causing his arm to un-tense and his hand to pop open. The small club fall from his grip, and Clyde pressed his advantage with another swing of the staff to keep him from reacquiring it.

Soon after this the knights made themselves known to bandits and fighters alike, wheeling their horses in and making their demands clear. Clyde's bandit didn't seem fool enough to keep fighting with the knights arriving, though he did angrily glare at Clyde while rubbing his elbow.

As the knights spread out to take the living bandits into custody, and to check over the ones dead or lying on the ground, one approached Clyde.

“You there traveler. You okay there?”

Clyde nodded, a smile on his face to greet the man.

“Just fine. I saw this pycon here being overwhelmed by a group of bandits, and so I threw in my aid to fight.”

“I suggest that you come with us. We will take you back towards the city.”

Clyde smiled, this time more at the thought of him being brought under knight "protection." He had to admit, it was a bit funny if not ironic.

Firstly it was funny since he was a Chaon, and a member of the Ebonstryfe, being offered protection by those who were likely sworn to kill his kind.

Secondly it was funny since he was in no danger, and had been afraid for his life at no point during the bandit battle. If he'd wanted he could have ended the entire spectacle in moments, slaughtering the lot of them if it had been his goal. Luckily for the bandits it hadn't.

Even if these knights all turned on Clyde at once, he didn't doubt he'd come out alive if not unscathed. He had no need of protection from the knights, and had far more power at his use than the physical protection these men could offer.

Clyde of course said none of this, instead simply smiling and nodding as he graciously accepted.

“Of course, thank you for the offer. I need to head back to the city after all of this. And I'd be a fool to turn down an offer of an armed escort. Unlike this brigands though, a fool I am not. ”
Clydes Stuff

I am actually in RL a super intelligent hamster from Rhode Island, with a 7 year plan to take over the world.

Update 6/2/18- 1:10AM EST: His 7 year plan a success, and several weeks ahead of schedule, Clyde leaves to oversee the world he has taken over.

No new threads after end of Spring 518-Will still be checking for PM's occasionally, but focusing on a new character.

Graders note: :
Please be aware Clyde is a master Magecrafter. He therefore should not be gaining full xp(or possibly shouldn't gain any at all) for simple tasks related to this magic, such as low level MC items, particularly for repetitions of creations he has done before. Feel free to contact me if unsure of a instance of his magic use compared to his skill level.
