OOCI made a typo and fixed it... I wrote Fight and Fight? as the title when it was suppose to be Fight and Flight? >.<

24th of Fall 515
8th Bell – Syna's Reign

Ball hated waking up early, it was not a pleasant time in the morning trying to stir his dog out from underneath the covers and rose himself enough to prepare for the day. Yet, habits needed to be made and today was a good a day as any other. It wasn't exactly hard getting up, but it was not exactly what the three inch clay squire wanted to do. Imass yipped and grumbled when Ball finally uncovered the mount and got him out of bed. Once both were awake and out of bed the pycon grabbed the length of metal he had the most training in. In this case Thorn was the weapon Ball lifted up out of his trunk at the foot of his bed and mounted his faithful dog.

It took two or three chimes, Ball never knew how long it took to get from dorm to Training Grounds, but he had a specific squire in mind he wanted to train with. Ball knew Squirrel was around somewhere but had zero idea where, Staring Pycon was probably staring at walls or something… So the one Ball had in mind was a large winged one he met about a year ago, he never did recall the name. That wasn't a big deal though, he was almost certain he could find the winged squire up there anyway. After all, as far as Ball could tell, that was the only large winged squire they had in the order. Probably the only one we will ever have. Once up to the grounds though, Ball slide from the back of his faithful mount and shifted his grip on his weapon of choice as the dog went about his morning business.

Once completed the dog returned to Ball's side with a humph and a yawning. Ball though was looking for the winged squire in mind and currently was not able to find him. Aw he would've been a good sparring partner for Thorn. Be a lot harder to hit him than it would be to hit a rock or a bale of hay.

Sighing though the squire mounted his dog, shifting his weight and position so that the weapon stuck out to the left of the dog's face, but straight out. It wasn't an easy task to handle however, as the dog's head was far larger than Ball's reach well holding the weapon. This was when the Pycon decided instead to sort of angle out there, holding the weapon close to his body provided better stability and still provided the same relatively straight line the larger pycons used when they were jousting with lances. He nudged the dog into a slow walk, trying to keep the weapon steady enough at a slower pace so he could get used to not wielding it for so long. The use of using a weapon comfortably comes from use Ball, not just skill. He reminded himself, realizing that the other squires that were there as long, or longer, than he has been were better used to holding a weapon even if they weren't any better with said weapon.

Graders Please Note :
As Ball is getting closer and closer to maxing out Pyken as a skill, I would like to request that in places where Ball is not doing enough to constitute Pyken XP if Pyken technique lores could be issued instead.

Examples of proper XP level for Pyken would be: Ball developing or refining his technique by adding new thing against an actual moving target, not a dummy.

The use of basic skills alone are not enough to accomplish XP at Ball's current level of Pyken.

Thank you.

Fight and Fight?

Postby Treachery on November 30th, 2015, 8:22 pm

They had been out patrolling again today, just around the inside of the city this time. It made sense that both himself and his patron often got the night shifts. Isur, he had learned fairly quickly, could see just as well as Zith in the dark of the night. Stretching his wings as he yawned, Treachery continued to plod after Sera Kovan as she marched forward hammer in hand just in case. It was just a few more chimes till they reach the switch over point and were officially off duty. Honestly he was quite glad for that, at night the city became boringily quiet. There were only few people on the streets and nobody really seemed to be doing much more than scurrying home to their beds. In short, it was quite dull. Still the zith silent hoped that his ears might pick up a fight or something equally as bloody that he could sink his claws into. No such luck, the last few chimes passed and they switched out with another set of knights. Grumbling to himself in zithanese, the squire motioned to slink off to bed.

“Cherry, Where do you think you are going?”

“.... Bed? Patrol over.”

“Oh no, you don't. Meet me in the train grounds within the next half a bell. We still need to go over your shield work and if you don't show, I'm not taking you hunting tomorrow.”

“Yes Sera!”

A mix between happy at the chance to fight and reluctant due to his opponent, Treachery quickly made for the docks. Though there were plenty of staircases within the city that mazed up to the grounds, there was also the wonderful advantage of them being on the highest level of the colony, making them open to the skies. From near the docks, one could easily fly up the walls and into the grounds, at least that was the theory. In practice it would be much harder since he had armour to contend with too. He should have given it to Sera Kovan when he had the chance. Oh well. Stretching out his wings and giving a test flap downwards gave him an idea of what he was up against. It wasn't as bad as he had been expecting but lets see if he was still saying that once he got up there. Letting out a deep breath, the zith set off running towards the wall.

Wings out stretched he pushed them down sharply, curling them and sliding them up to where they had started and repeated the flap, getting faster each time. A few flaps into the run and his feet had left the ground entirely. Yes, it was a lot harder with armour. Almost like that time he had tried to fly off with a young gazelle, except the weight wasn't purely resting on his arms and armour didn't tend to struggle that much against him. Steadily gaining height, his breathing began to get deeper and more ragged. He hadn't flown like this in a few years and it really showed. Wing flaps getting weaker and uneven, the squire managed to grab the edge of the roof before he fell out of the sky. Wrapping the wrist of his wings over the edge, Treachery used all four limbs to hual himself on to the room for a rest.

After a few chimes relaxing, the squire stood up and looked about. The current roof he was on wasn't the training grounds but they weren't far away. Again flapping his wings, the zith took a small pleasure as the roof dropped out beneath his feet, leaving him airborne. Trying not to get blow away by the wind that raced off the sea and over the towers this high up, Treachery soon made it to the training grounds. His landing was a little rough for his tastes, sending him stumbling forward onto his hands and knees. Letting out a small chuckle, he righted himself again enjoying the rush from a hard flight as his breathing caught up with itself. Looking about, it seemed he had beaten his patron here though he wasn't alone. A familiarly round clay man sat on his riding rat, some sort of weapon in hand. Dropping his wings down to a comfortable resting place, the zith gave the man a wave and approached him.

“Hello.”

"My Speaking" My Thoughts

Ball nearly jumped off of Imass in reaction to the large bat-winged man. Ball recalled him just briefly from the previous year. The Yukmen hunt. Ball nodded, “I was actually looking for you. I need someone other than an armour cladded moron to train with. You are less of a moron then most of the other squires after getting their head knocked about.” Ball paused and held up the lance, “Besides, I figured if I am going to do any damage to you, it isn't going to be with this. Think you might be able to help me?

This was probably the first and only time Ball actually asked another squire to assist him in training… Well, besides Squirrel Pycon who helped him with getting beat with his own py-pole. Ball wasn't going to say that out loud though. That still hurt his pride something fierce. “Don't worry. I am no where as good with this poker as I am with my fists. So you don't have to worry about dying or broken bones or anything… Apparently one isn't suppose to leave their mount with using one of these… I think that is kind of dumb though, so let's see how we get about using this better and maybe together we can come up with something fun and non-mounted to use a lance for eh?” Ball turned Imass around and moved a bit from Treachery.

Calling out Ball grinned, “But a few passes mounted might be useful. If you don't mind of course” Ball hesitated before dropping the lance down into place, the point glinted off Syna the lance's curves as Ball tried to remain in control of weapon. The pycon was competent enough with the weapon, but he was not an expert at all in it. And it was ages since the last time he held Thorn for any period of time that wasn't checking the strapping and polishing it's metallic shaft. That too was apparently squire duty: Weaponry upkeep. Ball grimaced and sighed, waiting to see if the Bat Pycon would say come at him.

OOCUgh Short… Sorry. Tried to make it interesting, hopefully once we start actually doing some training I can get into a better groove lol.

Fight and Flight?

Postby Treachery on March 17th, 2016, 8:05 am

Oh the clay man had been looking for him? To spar with him no less? Chuckling at him calling their fellow squires morons, the zith's mind thought back to when how he had first meet the clay man. He had at first been sceptical of the clay blobs claims at his fighting ability though those claims had ended up being scarily well founded. Though at least he didn't lie about his fight ability so if he said that he couldn't do much damage with whatever he was holding, the zith was willing to risk that he was telling the truth. Inclining his head when the blob continued to show that he was listening, the zith mentally calculated how much trouble he would get in if his patron arrived to find him sparing another squire. He waged not that much especially if it was one that was as strong as the tiny clay man was.

Coming to a conclusion with his answer as the clay man explained how he would be not be moving much from his riding rat during the spar, the zith nodded at his question. Slowly drawing his kopis, he considered what he was going to do. Flying above the clay blob was a bit unfair, plus his wings still ached from the flight up here so he risked falling out the sky when his endurance ran out. Oh heck. Why not? His ground work needed improvement and it would be useful to learn how to dodge ground attacks better. He'd stay mainly ground based unless the situation called for it otherwise. Making sure his armour wasn't going to get in the way to much, the zith held the kopis gingerly in his right hand eyeing up his opponent.

The clay was small and fast from what he could recall, he was bound to his dog for this fight however so was now only as fast and as agile as his dog. The zith himself was, much to his own annoyance, fairly clumsy on land and, embarrassingly, also in the air. He was larger so would be easier to hit too. In general, the pycon had the advantage. So a head on attack was out of the question. Hmmm. Very well. Lets see how well the clay man's riding rat turned. Sprinting to his left, the zith attempted to circle around toward the pycon by the side. He kept his wings high and out the way of his legs as he awkwardly spiralled the clay blob looking for a point of attack; draw close then backing away to try and spur the little man into attacking recklessly.

OOCI hope this is okay.

Fight and Flight?

Postby Ball on April 5th, 2016, 4:15 am

Ball couched the lance tightly against his body as he took the Zith in his sights, the lance bobbed as he grimaced and held it tightly. Ball kept the Zith in his sights, pivoting the dog around with a nudge to the respective side waiting for the Zith to stop moving long enough for the squired clay to signal to Imass to lunge forward. The zith moved forward and Ball tried to take the advantage he saw, it was distracting to try to pay attention to the winged man. The dog snapped at the Zith trying to get him in pinned or remain in reach as Ball thrusted Thorn forward with all his weight behind it. It was a hard thrust at that, an attempt to really put the weapon to some use.

Yet Ball saw the feint too late, when he expected the weapon to bite into a furry leg it met instead with emptiness and Ball fell forward with the force he was exuding. The weapon pulled him downward, pushing his mount down and forward as well. A yelp from Imass as Ball went to sit back up, pulling the long metal weapon with him. Grimacing Ball sat up fully as he pulled the weapon up completely once more, shifting to keep the Zith in his line of vision. It was troublesome to reset the grip and placement of his weapon, yet once again as Ball ‘couched’ the lance – the benefit of being a Pycon made it appear that Ball was holding the lance in his hand with the long handle tucked tightly against his body, held in place by his arm. In truth though, Ball was holding it in a fashion that allowed him to heave the heavy tipped weapon like a spear. Once the weapon was in place Ball sat stoically, trying to resemble a knight at the jousting fences.

This time though he waited and circled, instead of motioning for his mount to lunge forward to attack as he struck out with the lance Ball instead waited for the Zith to get laxed in his motions and Ball threw the lance at the Zith, this was a tactic Ball used before against another winged foe to some rather satisfying results. However, this was a fellow squire and if the weapon did damage that was beyond a typical training wound Ball would take the Zith to the healers. That was only fair after all.
