Mara and Hessel are both approved. :)

Kamba; if you want to submit your home as a location, you're more than welcome to! However, you must first finish your CS and register for Lhavit. That being said, you also need an actual description of your home for it to be posted as a location. Saiyin's Home is a good example of a location write-up for a PC's home.

Here's another one! :) I was a little unsure of the name, whether it should be simple or not. Anyway, thanks for looking this over, you're a star!

.
.
The Swing

Image

The swing is a simple piece of kit: two pieces of sturdy rope supporting a piece of wood to form a seat, all tied to the thick bough of an oak tree. The difference is that this swing's flight path takes it out over a dizzyingly steep drop where the adrenaline pumps, and the views are stunning but potentially deadly.

The swing is located on the slopes of Sharai Peak, about one half bell from the last house on the Okomo Estate, and from the location the visitor can see the rest of Lhavit sprawled out, like a glimmering sculpture. Beneath lies a steep, almost vertical scree cliff, dotted with the occasional brave shrub and beyond are more of Kalea's beautiful scenery.

The swing is popular with the children on Sharai Peak in particular, despite their parents' warning to stay away. The thrill and excitement of swinging into the unknown has been enough to send one to many foolhardy child to their untimely deaths, but that doesn't stop the children of Lhavit from braving the hike to the fabled tree, and peering over the edge to see if they're brave enough and maybe even trying to have a go at the swing itself.

NPC

Julian
ImageName: Julian Orto
Race: Ghost (Human)
Date of Birth: 31st Spring 470 AV
Date of Death: 70th Winter 482 AV
Place of Birth: Lhavit
Title/Occupation: The ghost of the swing
Skills: Possession: 40 xp, Singing: 50 xp, Soulmist Projection: 26 xp, Materialisation: 50 xp, Socialisation: 30 xp
Personality/History: Julian would always regret the dare his sister taunted him with. He had never been very brave, finding pleasure in singing rather than in fighting like all the other boys. His spiteful sister Alison knew it. For years she had bullied him and on more than one occasion she had her friends beat little Julian up. He wished he could prove himself to his sister, and to the friends he once enjoyed being with, but everything he did seemed to enrage Alison further and sunk him deeper into misery. One fateful day, when Lhavit was encased in snow, Alison goaded her brother into a visit to the swing. He thought he could finally prove himself, yet he would never go home again. He plummeted to his death after slipping on ice, and now haunts the swing in the hope of warning other children such as him that it isn't worth it.

When he is not trying to convince children from their fate, he sings whilst sitting in the boughs of the tree that is now his home. Julian is a little black-haired boy with sparkling black eyes, dressed in a scruffy top and trousers. Though ghostly, Julian is mainly sad rather than angry, and would prefer that people leave him and the swing alone.

Postby Lucas Skyglow on June 13th, 2018, 6:03 pm

Name: Anton
Race: Inarta
Type: Domain NPC
Age: 57
Born: 11th of Summer 461 AV.
Born In: Wind Reach
PC Affiliations: Lucas Skyglow (He is Lucas' magic mentor)
Physical Description:
An old man, nearing the end of his life, with graying red hair and a generally wrinkly face and body.

Personality: Like many Inarta, Anton is extremely frank and straight forward. He does not try to adhere to any social rules, and will do whatever he deems fit in both conversation and action.

Ethics: Like most magic users, Anton is almost completely devoid of any ethics. He only cares for the results of his experiments, his friends, and his belongings. He will never go out of his way to do anything good, and will probably not care about the morality of his actions or experiments.

Likes: Enjoys discussing confusing magic, both because he likes the confused expressions of people hes talking to and because he really likes talking about magic. He also really likes tea, though is extremely nit picky about the quality of any tea he drinks.

Dislikes: Absolutely hates interruptions. Will not tolerate anyone stopping him from doing whatever it is that he is doing, and especially so when he is going on a long winded rant/lecture on some obscure magic.

History:
He spent his last few years with a Vantha friend of his (named Levi Skyglow) in Avanthal. There he taught his friends son magic in exchange for assistance with his summoning magic and when Levi died, he left Avanthal to go back to his laboratory in Lhavit. The son of Levi, Lucas, seemed to have grown attached to him in that time and wished to come with him. Anton deemed it too bothersome to take care of Lucas in Lhavit, and would rather have Lucas (who is 17 at this time and a competent adult) live on his own in Avanthal.

Housing:
Used to own a Lab in Avanthal, but sold it after moving back to Lhavit. Now owns and lives in his private home in the Tenten mountains, a place detached from other buildings but close enough to The Divines Gate for it to be not inconvenient to go between.

Skills:
Skill EXP Total Proficiency Notes
Reimancy #SP(28) 35 Competent Attributes: Fire, Air
Summoning #SP(10) 15 Novice Personally Researches

Name: Antons Private Residency
Description: A house made in the Tenten mountains to serve as the home for the mage, Anton. Slightly detached from other buildings and hard to get to on the mountain. Most people would not know exactly where this house is unless they have been to it before, as it is located in a seemingly random slope in the mountain away from other buildings. Close enough to The Divines Gate for it to not be too difficult to travel between the two.
NPC Info: Owned and lived in by the NPC wizard, Anton.

Saiyin - your location is approved; I will be making a slight alteration (not sure of the details yet) that allows for it to make sense that such a swing would still exist, since if more than 1 or 2 children died on it the Shinya would probably simply take it down. Very neat idea though!

Lucas - Your NPC is approved, your location is not. Summoning is a dangerous world magic with the potential to go very, very wrong. People are not allowed to practice it freely as they wish within the city. Any and all summoning done within Lhavit is conducted at the Divine's Gateway.

Zhivka was born and raised in Lhavit. When she was 9 years of age she joined the Shinya and worked towards earning her full rank by the age of 17 and since has been working with Alexis as an acolyte since. With the normal forms of combat, she undertook to become who she is she also learned to fight wearing a blindfold in case she ever had to fight where she could not see.

Zhivka tends to be one of little words when she is working with Alexis, however, will help him with more hands-on lessons compared to books as she feels that hands-on is the best way to learn by trial by fire.

Crystal Seed Bank

Image

The seed bank is a metaphorical temple of knowledge for botanists who manage to get their hand on the necessary permissions to study the many secrets inside.

A beautiful, aged structure of skyglass, the Crystal seed bank truly is built like a temple. With a greenhouse exterior, the bank is a network of beautifully lit, see though halls and garden spaces growing both native and exotic species of flora. The entrance is an ornamented gate that leads down a long corridor to the main portion of the building. At the very centre lies a library of files. Book cases fill a wide open space, so tall that the very top layers can only be reached by a network of ladders an pulleys. Each book shelf is stacked with boxes of different sizes and shapes, all which at some point or another have been labeled appropriately and stacked alphabetically. Inside the boxes one can find files and files of information as well as samples of seeds. Many of the favoured seeds are grown on the Seed Bank grounds and those seeds are often replaced, whilst others have been sitting dormant for decades.

A purpose built ventilation system keeps the atmosphere inside the seed library cool and dry to prevent the activation of seed samples but accidents do happen. Every so often the grounds keepers have to throw out whole boxes of precious information because a little moisture got to them.

Decades of time have a habit of obscuring knowledge. Suffice to say it isn’t easy to find what one is looking for inside the Seed Bank but with enough time and determination it’s not impossible. The vast collection is a result of trade between Lhavit and neighbouring cities thus not every single plant in Mizahar can be found here. Grains, fruits, vegetables and florals native to Lhavit take priority and are usually kept in far better conditions, treated with far better care, also boasting large sample sizes in the archives. A lucky botanist can however hope to accidentally happen upon the odd, unusual specimen of plant; some even as old as the city itself.

The Crystal Seed Bank really is every botanists’s dream and nightmare. Around the location’s grounds and within it’s vast network of interconnecting glasshouse rooms, a visitor can find strategically hidden laboratories fitted with everything one might need for the study of seeds and plants. From philtering kits to specific chemicals and magnifying glasses. Although the labs aren’t always as easy to find among the maze of foliage, they do provide a peaceful and silent atmosphere for a botanist to work in. The result however is that the grounds keepers don’t always keep tabs on everyone that uses the labs so botanists and scholars can sometimes find themselves accidentally trapped in the building overnight.

NPCs
Image
Name: Amarina 'Green Thumb'
Race: Etheafal
DoB: (to be decided by ST)
PoB: Lhavit
Title: Head grounds keeper
Skills: Gardening, Foraging, Floristry, Preservation, Leadership

Amarina is a no nonsense lady. She’d pleasant and easy enough to have a conversation with but she is also often very very busy. Her daily duties include coordinating the vast force of keepers under her wing, employing new recruits and general battles with the overflow of information contained at the Bank. However she is also always the one who represents the good name of her business, often making appearances at local Lhavit festivities.

The Eth owns a little cottage in the Okomo Estates and her garden is always the most beautiful one in her neighbourhood. Many who wish to know the secrets of her way with plants often find themselves with unanswered questions but it doesn’t hurt to ask.

Image
Name: Raphael Varis
Race: Human
DoB: (elder - to be decided by ST)
PoB: Lhavit
Title: Researcher
Skills: Botany, Herbalism, Organisation, Intelligence, Teaching

Raphael is a library of knowledge. Having little passion for anything else, other than the preserving the knowledge and understanding of Kalea’s flora, has made the man not only the longest lived researcher at the Seed Bank but also the most elusive presence. He doesn’t give up the many secrets he knows easily but is also mindful of his old age and determined to create the next generation of botanists and researchers thus he’s always on the look out for fresh meet to reign into the ranks of grounds keepers. Even though he technically answers to Amarina, Raphael has earned a position of high respect at the Seed Bank. He’s the unofficial second in command.

IC Info
*Anyone can be taken on an educational tour of the Seed Bank gardens however being granted a study permit and use of the location’s facilities is little more complicated. Most who acquire the privileges have either been contracted by one of the influential families of Lhavit or have ties to the ground’s keepers directly and aid them in the never-ending task of research. Gaining trust of the grounds keepers pays off as they will be more inclined to yell their resources and expertise for personal research.

*Taking seeds outside Seed Bank grounds is strictly forbidden, however not impossible as long as one has the relevant skills. This location is very important to the city’s scholarly community however so be prepared to face the wrath of the Shinya if you’re found with stolen seeds on you.

*Most common and uncommon plants and seeds native to Lhavit and the surrounding area can be found in this location and therefore do not need moderator permission to study. For more unusual species, contact your ST for permission. Granting permissions is left to their digression.

Sharaii Brewery

Image

A long, winding footpath leads though the picturesque countryside, lined with orchards on either side. Rows upon rows of Snow Apple trees growing at equal distances from each other, provide shade in the summer and a delicious harvest in winter.

At the very end of the path is a surprisingly small, two story cottage surrounded by verandas on all sides. At all times of the years there are barrels and crates laying around everywhere, all with the Sharaii Brewery monogram. Inside, on the first level is a vast array of yet more barrels both wooden and metal, fermentation vats and other things necessary for the creation of truly delicious cider. On the top level of the cottage are the rooms for the family who had owned the Brewery for decades as well as a spacious kitchen which always smells of delicious apple pie, compote and other apple related foods. The basement, with a floor plan almost twice the size of the cottage up above, is a storage area for anything from produce to harvest baskets, farmers clothing and fertiliser. It’s lit by oil lamps which have to be turned on and off by hand upon entry and exit.

Snow Apples

This peculiar, small apple species is unique to Lhavit and takes it’s name from the harvest time which takes place right at the end of winter. Although rather small and dark red in colour, the Snow Apples are incredibly sweet, delicious and perfect for the signature Lhavit drink, the Snow Apple Cider, that is mildly alcoholic and takes a whole year to make. The cider is made though a process of fermentation though both wooden and metal caskets and the longer it is allowed to sit, the stronger the alcohol concentration. 1 year old cider is usually given to children as it has a sweet taste whilst the older batches are reserved for adults only.

The Snow Apple trees bloom at the start of fall with gorgeous, massive lime green and yellow blooms. Some of the older and more prized trees bloom white. The first snowfall incubates the apples as they grow and mature and become ready to harvest at the end of Winter. Before the Lhavit snow melts and the orchards look breathtaking, speckled in scarlet and white, massive apple picking parties are organised. This is a perfect time for Lhavit natives to make some extra money extra hands are almost never turned away. With wicker baskets strapped to their backs, apple pickers traverse the hilly landscape of the orchards for weeks, picking apples as soon as they ripen and stash them on the terraces of the brewery where they frigid cold keeps them fresh like a natural fridge. By the time the snow melts, the apples need to be picked and turned into cadre, various baked goods and preserves.

NPCs

Name: Mariolla Snow
Race: Human
DoB: (elder - up to ST)
PoB: Lhavit
Title: Business Owner
Skills: gardening, cooking, Leadership, organisation, food preservation

Mariolla is the matriarch of the Snow family who had been the owners of the Sharai Brewery for generations. She’s a severe lady, incredibly practical and with a sarcastic sense of humour. She’s kind enough but blunt and honest. Doesn’t hold grudges but is quick to teach one a lesson and getting on her bad side isn’t advised. After all being deprived of delicious snow apple produce even for a day is a truly difficult punishment to bare.

Mariolla can often be found in the summer months, in her rocking chair overlooking the orchards in front of the front door of the Brewery with her cat on her lap, napping or telling stories of old Lhavit to children.

Jugged Hare NPC

NPCs
Image
Name:Liard Cindergrove
Race:Mixed blood (Human, Inarta)
DoB: 488AV
PoB: Lhavit
Title: Hunter
Skills: Hunting, Tracking, Land Navigation (unforgiving), Weapon: crossbow, Stealth, Animal husbandry, Wilderness Survival
Gnosis: None

Liard had quite the sad childhood. Raised by an alcoholic single father he had learned early on that he had just himself to count on. He'd often have to clean up messed after the old man, get him out of trouble and make apologies on his behalf. This when the old man finally passed away shortly after the boy's 17th birthday, he wasn't all that sad. Industrious, as he was, he had found a way to support himself and make a living from his exceptional aim and love of the wild.

Liard is a free spirit. A rugged beauty with a crop of auburn hair, never quite cleanly shaven, and and often smelling of the woods. Green eyes sparkle with untamed energy. He lives for himself and only himself, does what he pleases and swears like a sailor doing it. A whippersnapper attitude he had carried into his later life. Liard has a great love of banter which often rubs people the wrong way thus, suffice to say, he's an acquired taste when it comes to friendship. He loved to drink, he loves tabbaco and has a real sweet tooth, apple pie being his greatest and perhaps only weakness.

For such a rough fellow as is LIard, he has formed a true companionship with a female calico cat. It's very rare for the two to be seen separate. Going by the name Misty, she's neither a prolific hunter nor very useful in many situations but she sure is cute. Few understand Liard's deep protective love of the cat but she does keep his blood pressure down in stressful situations and how much more could a man really ask for.

* I'd like to develop a bit of a rivalry between him and Raeyn - and perhaps not all that friendly.
