A vivacious woman, the Lia of the Peartide pod has always believed in living life to the fullest-a trait overall common to the Svefra race. Renowned for both her leadership skills and shrewd business acumen, Coraline rose to the rank of Lia at the age of 30, and has led the Pearltide pod to prosperity ever since.

Several members of her pod use their casinors as a sort of ferry service to the citizens of Sunberth, escorting them safely across the river for a modest price. This service has provided a significant source of income for the Pearltides and a valuable means of conveyance for the people of Sunberth.

A Sunberther through and through. Old Wayd has lived through many of the recent horrors the city has endured. After the reign of Obal Causten, Marvis wanted nothing to do with the mines and took work as a sailor. He was able to achieve a fairly comfortable life as a sailor, until the Massive Djed Storm of 512. Marvis was on a ship just outside the harbor when the worst of the storm struck. The ship was destroyed and Marvis was one of the few survivors. As the city attempted to recover from the damage, Old Wayd was down on his luck. No ship's captain wanted to hire an older deck hand, and he eventually became impoverished.

Old Wayd still loves the sea and has taken the alleys around the harbor in Baroque Bay as his home. When he has the coin, he'll stop by the Drunken Fish for a meal, a drink, and the latest scuttlebutt around the harbor. Old Wayd is extremely territorial and drives off any other panhandlers from the harbor when they catch his notice.

At 6'1", Alard cuts a fairly imposing figure being on the taller side, though he is not very broad, instead having a leanly muscled figure. He keeps his dark and greying hair short but not too closely cropped, and is usually clean-shaven or with only a few days worth of stubble. His narrow, hazel eyes are usually set on some sort of prize or another, and he is often seen with a smirk or sneer on his face.

Born in Syliras to a Knight and a seamstress, Alard had a comfortable upbringing; he never went without, however his parents were often too busy to have time for him. Still, he grew up idolizing his father, a Syliran Knight, wishing to one day become one as well.

However, when his father was accused of crimes against the city, including theft and murder, Alard quickly became disenchanted with his father and the Syliran Knights. A teenager by then, Alard left Syliras, and ended up making his way to Sunberth.

He lived on the streets for a period of time, barely scraping by, before he was taken in by a Dragoon who took pity on him. It didn't take him long to pledge his own allegiance to the Sun's Birth, and he's been a member ever since, quickly becoming comfortable in the chaos of Sunberth.

Alard is a gruff man, rough in his mannerisms, and crude and loud. He cares little for others aside from his fellow members of the Sun's Birth; and even that can be up in the air. He is selfish, arrogant, and domineering, always wanting to get his way, and won't hesitate to fight others in order to achieve that, doing what he must to take what he feels he is owed.

That being said, Alard is not particularly ambitious; he has been a Guardian for a long while, and is perfectly content with his place within the Sun's Birth, not feeling the need to move up in the ranks. He does, however, have a taste for the finer things in life (or as fine as it gets in a city such as Sunberth).

Alard, like many men in Sunberth, has a weakness for booze and women; as such, he is often found at the Gold Lodge or the Scarlet Sanctum indulging in these vices. He also spends a fair bit of time at the Proving Grounds to keep himself in shape and his combat skills up to par, as he can also be quite vain.

Asher is better at what he does than how he teaches it. The Kelvic grew up serving the Orphanage, and despite his rather laid back behavior, he takes his duties to the ‘future of Sunberth’ very seriously. He is one of the few people that Jilene Ironside trusts, and he has earned that trust through years of dedicated service and conviction. He mainly teaches the children how to survive in Sunberth. He teaches them how to fight, steal, hide, and escape. He is affectionately called the ‘Thief Lord’ by most of the children there who admire his skills, and even though he is a small time thief he does not renounce the title, humoring them. He has no known ties to any of the major gangs, but serves Jilene’s will faithfully and to the letter. He tries his best to be her eyes and ears beyond the network of children she already has.

When he isn’t teaching he has a habit of drowning himself in more carnal pleasures. He doesn’t know when he is going to die, so he lives by the moment, and tries to squeeze as much ‘life’ in as possible. He is not picky about his bed partners, and has been seen with both genders openly. He puts on a tough attitude and openly insults those who he finds distasteful without regret or remorse.

ImageHe has an air of confidence about him, a nice smile. Asher stands at an even six foot, and has short cut, butchered, red hair. He cuts it himself. He is usually seen wearing darker clothes, all in disrepair, being stitched and torn again and stitched. His prized possession is the leather jacket that he isn’t seen without when he is wearing his human skin. He has a belt with at least three daggers attached, and a questionable pouch on his left hip. His hands are usually covered with leather gloves.

As an animal, he is an unsuspecting orange cat who enjoys snatching fish and hunting small birds and mice around the Orphanage. He is bonded to Jillene Ironside.

Sebastian is an ambitious but wary man. Always he's working on a project that he feels would make an improvement for the city. He finds a lot of satisfaction in construction because of the pride of being able to point at something and claim responsibility for it. After the fires that had destroyed a good deal of the Sunset Quarters, Seb was one of the first people to step in and assist with the reconstruction. Feeling that Sunberth was home, dangerous and chaotic, but still home. What he desires is to completely reconstruct all the ruined buildings of Sunberth, feeling that it would assist in improving the general mood of the citizens.

His ambitions need backing, so he pledged himself to the Daggerhands, having had negative experiences with the Sun's Birth. Being a man of calm temperament and capable of getting things accomplished, he attracted the attention of a Big Sister that took him under her wing as a protege. For years, Sebastian has been groomed to one day step up and depose a Daggerhand big sibling, so that he can take leadership of a small section of the gang and begin his efforts to rebuild the city. All while being loyal to the woman that he serves loyaly, The Viper.

    The fact that Asher is a unbonded Kelvic NPCs with Ranuri would make him the worst person to care for children. A Ranuri would do ANYTHING to please. Bond instantly to the first person they meet, and likewise, do anything that the children want, because the mark would make it his whim. Jilene would boot him from the Orphanage because he'd be a useless authority figure.

    I'd approve him if you remove the Ranuri aspect. I'd also recommend simply saying he's bonded to Jillene Ironside. If he grew up in the Ophanage, she'd have been a close figure in his life.

Gils is one of those Lethafal that fell very shortly after the Valterrian. He was around to witness the final death toll of the Valterrian and was a scientist who worked towards the survival of people when they went underground. He had the unique experience to be Marked by Nysel which allowed him to access his Chavi and the memories of his past were he learned his Eypharian Past and was able to re-teach himself a great deal of his past skills in order to assist in the survival of the populace of Mizahar.

Gils delved into magic, became a very confident mage and leader during the dark days underground and has a long history of existing. His existence has taught him to not grow close to people who often perish too quickly so when he made the acquaintance of the Champion of Semele (unbeknownst to him) he pushed her away when she lost her heart to him. Because of his rejection, which was somewhat standard for him among women, the Champion of Semele sacrificed her life in an epic event in Sylira's history... saving many lives.

Semele, however, was none to pleased and cursed Gils to remain beneath the ground even as Sunberth's citizens rose. He was long forgotten where he dwelled in misery finally understanding what was bad about holding oneself aloof and withdrawn. He remains beneath Sunberth today, captured until his curse can be broken which will only happen when Semele feels he has learned his lesson.

Within his captivity, Gils has explored his roots and has gone back to the science of animal husbandry and genetics. He is the singular responsible party for the existence of The Brats of Sunberth. In the early days he started out training rats to steal for him and bring him back food and supplies he needed from the surface. As time progressed, the amount of things these small creatures could retrieve grew to be insufficient. Thus he took to working on their genetics and bred them up so that the incredibly large brats Sunberth enjoys today are his fault. Large Brats can bring back stolen ... well just about anything.

His other projects are vast, and beneath the streets of Sunberth many of his projects roam. Gils is a lonely individual who has long since learned his lesson and is simply waiting for someone to discover him and set him free. The requirements skillwise of that individual are very specific. And so Gils has long since given up hope the proper person will happen upon him and rescue him.

Gilthas is approachable but dangerous. He reads to the non-trained person as more an eccentric scientist than a mage. His workshop and living quarters are beneath Sunberth, but extremely difficult to find unless one has a means of tracking him to his home. If people can locate him, he indeed with speak with them and sometimes takes on students. DS permission required to interact with him.

On the 58th of Winter, 518 A.V., there was a grand opening for a new medical facility in the Seaside Market. A large, two story structure that had been remodeled has become the preferred location to go to for medical treatment, for those that are able to afford it. The interior is kept fairly clean and is able to support having a few dozen patients at once. Slaves are hustling back and forth carrying medical supplies or cleaning equipment to fulfill the demand of a healing facility in Sunberth.

The first floor consists entirely of the hospital with several large rooms containing multiple cots. Each room holds patients based on severity of injury and urgency of care. While Triage is constantly being performed, those with the financial means can jump ahead to be treated first regardless of the extent of their injuries. The back rooms consist of the medical supplies and can only be accessed by the staff. The staff is entirely comprised of female slaves whose ages cover the full spectrum. The more experienced doctors can be identified by how many younger females are surrounding them to learn medicine.

Living quarters make up for the second floor. Each slave is granted their own bed and are fed better than the average Sunberth slave. There is one room on the second floor, that is kept off limits except for the patients who want the best treatment available. Inside, one can receive healing from a Healer of Rak’keli, should they be able to afford it. One other room on the second floor is the nursery for all newborns. Regardless of the time of year, one can always expect to hear at least one infant’s cry from the nursery. Those that pay close attention, can note that a couple of the slaves are expecting child at any point throughout the year.

Apart from the female slaves, there are armed guards as well. To avoid being heavily “influenced” by any of the gangs, a guard is stationed at every doorway along the interior. Guards often double as wards for physically handling patients that refuse to remain calm. They also assist in insuring that patients pay for their services before they receive their treatments. It is required for a patient to pay before being treated. Those that refuse to pay always get the same response. “If you don’t like it, then you’re welcome to go to the other doctor.”

Jaxon is a charismatic fellow that has always managed to influence those around him for selfish gains. Though he was born in Sunberth, much of his life has been spent abroad to accumulate a fortune in a much-needed commodity. Health care. Jaxon spent decades visiting slave markets in a couple of cities looking specifically for slave women with medical experience. After he managed to procure a handful, he started buying younger female slaves for the purpose of having the older women teach them medical skills.

When he came back to Sunberth, he opened his hospital, taking a small loan from Goldfinger in order to pay for the location and materials that he desired. Jaxon makes an effort to be well liked among the upper echelon of the city. Those that get to know Jax better, or simply pay closer attention, know him to be a womanizer, a misogynist, and a proliferator. Whispers among his slaves talk about how he visits the younger women at night. And often a few are wandering around, expecting child. Strangely, the only children ever kept are the girls.

Despite being a slave, and having many of her freedoms taken from her, Nadia is a twice marked Healer who tries to help as many people as she is able to. This has often gotten her in trouble with Jaxon, by healing those that were unable to pay for their treatments. Due to repeatedly doing this, Jaxon keeps her locked away in a private treatment room and only brings those he has already received payment from to her. When she is not treating anyone that is sick, she is cleaning sheets or teaching the younger slaves about medicine and Rak’keli. She is often lonely and acts very friendly with anyone she is permitted to interact with.

Special Note: Nadia is never sent out to answer house calls.

Being one of the more knowledgeful slaves in Jaxon’s possession, Kahstra takes care of the more seriously injured patients that come in. With her multiple limbs and excellent dexterity, she is able to handle the more complex procedures by herself. Though, she is frequently surrounded by younger and newer slaves that are beyond novice medical abilities, seeking further development of their skills. Kahstra has a sharp tongue, quick wit, and the most pleasant bedside manner of all the women there.

More often than not, Eliesa is the first face one see’s when walking into the establishment. While she has experience giving medical aid, Jaxon puts Eliesa to better use by being the receptionist. Her responsibilities include performing Triage, determining who needs to treat the patient, keeping the establishment presentable, and receiving payments from the patients. If there’s a patient that wishes for Nadia’s services, Eliesa will always refer to Jaxon first, if he’s around. Another reason for Eliesa being the receptionist is due to her atrocious bedside manner.

Eliesa is quite literal and often looks annoyed. Making sure that patients are being helped quickly and with as little mess as possible, keeps her very busy. To see her sitting or standing around is a rare occurrence as she runs the day-to-day on behalf of Jaxon, making her one of the few that has Jaxon’s ear.

Fjorn once pursued a career with the Ebonstryfe but failed his Crucible when attempting to become a full-fledged soldier. After that, he took on any sort of mercenary job that could would pay. The man did not receive much education and is illiterate. But he’s got a keen tactical mind and has survived many battles against experienced fighters. As he was getting older, he knew he could not endure a mercenary’s life for long. His path crossed with Jaxon’s, who offered him a comfy position as the leader of his guards at a hospital that he intended to open. Fjorn was eagerly joined expecting something that would pay well and require minimal effort.

Becoming the head of security to a place in Sunberth quickly squashed that expectation. His responsibilities include directing the guards, assisting with keeping raging patients under control, as well as ensuring that none of the slaves attempt to escape. Each time a house call is made, he must ensure that one or two guards are available to escort the slave. Fjorn is often irritable as there is always something that his attention is needed for. He demands that any issues be directed to his underlings first, so that only the real issues make his attention. The only slaves he bothers to listen to are Eliesa and Kahstra.




 
Services
Apart from providing a clean, torture free, facility to treat a person’s wounds, one is able to send a message and request for a House Call. A slave as well as a guard, perhaps two, are sent to the specified location within the next day. The slave makes a prognosis of the patient then gives an estimate for cost, which must be given to the guards before treatment begins. Otherwise, the guards will force the slave from the premises. Nadia is never available for house calls, but any other slave is.

Tobias is very ambitious and seeks to obtain the rank of Captain within the Sun’s Birth. While he is an egotistical person, he is able to back up his claims. Driven to succeed, Tobias seeks fill the ranks of those under his command with the most competent fighters he is able to find. When he’s not busy with his own duties, he is often found at The Proving Grounds in order to hone his skills.
