Fela Meason - Book Corner II

The Dark Hunter Series

Image

Ok, before you start thinking this is your run of the mill romance novel just give it a chance. I don't read much romance but I do know my way around a paranormal novel of any kind. Think modern times and Greek gods. Doesn't even have to be Greek gods, there are Roman slaves, dead cowboys, an Amazonian, shapeshifters made from magic and witches. My advice would be just to check out. Lookie here.

The universe breaks down into several different series:

The Dark Hunters are a group granted life once more by the Goddess Artemis to do her bidding and protect the human race from Daimon. Daimons are what Apollites become if they choose at age 27 to not perish and follow their cursed path but instead start sucking human souls.

The were-hunters, two races of shapeshifters created by King Lycaon of Arcadia. His lovely wife, an Apollite, was taken from him on her 27th birthday. Determined to not let this happen to his two sons he used magic to blend their essence with that of animals. As he blended the animal with the psychically enhanced Apollites, two creatures were created. One that held a human heart. One that held the animal’s. Each one possessed traits of the other. No longer human, no longer animal, it was a bastard hybrid of the two species. The fates were angry he went against their decree and demanded he kill his sons, when he refused they set it in motion that the Katagaria (those with animal hearts) and the Arcadians (those with human hearts) were to be at war for the rest of time and never know peace.

The dream hunters, traditionally called the Oneroi, they are what protect the humans, Apollites, and immortals while they slumber. They battle the Skoti Daimons as they attempt to drain the lives and energy off sleeping beings. Most are stripped of their emotions and can only feel while they slumber.

All of these groups interact and weave a wonderfully complex world for the reader. I cannot recommend this book series enough to anyone who loves mythology and a good paranormal read.

My few short words here cannot cover everything that is wonderful about this series. I say head over to the link included, or just pick up the first few books and judge for yourself.

Elisabeth Gann - Freaking out

I move in one week. One week! I am flat broke and I need at least 480 dollars before the 17th. I am freaking out hardcore right now. I still need to pay off the final bills at this address while still trying to get enough money to cover my part of the deposit and first months rent. Also my roommate will not be getting his Pell check in time to pay for his part of the deposit and rent so I don't know how we are going to cover that and my books are almost 400 dollars alone. Yup that's right, still don't have books yet. Classes are registered and paid for but no books. No books, no house, no money.

(yes I know most of that was an awful run on sentence...)

I don't want to borrow the money from family but it is starting to look like I wont have a choice. I need to go in and work overtime but I'm hurting too much today to get out of bed, I can just forget about going in. Blah blah blah.

I feel like pulling out my hair, panic attacks have been on the rise and to be honest I don't even know if I sound coherent right now.

Oh wait? What do I hear good news? Yes I do! Gina is on the phone with Peggy now, and they will prorate our first months rent. That's 300 dollars less we have to pay on the 17th. Oh thank god...ok still broke but now not going to have to borrow as much as I thought.

Ok, done rambling. To those who are still reading, thanks for your support and hearing me out.

*hugs all around* hugs make me feel better.

Ooh gosh, I am totally the same right now!
I'm going to be moving into University residence in just over a month and I'm freaking out! Luckily my first part of rent is paid for, but I have yet to buy my books. And equipment. And specialist clothing. And cutlery. And... you get the idea.
Hopefully you'll get it all sorted just fine (:

You will have to bear with me, because positive thinking is really not my forte out in the real world, but here we go...

The important thing in times like this is to focus on the things you do have right now, instead of the things you don't. Now, I can already hear the "easier said than done", most notably because I am the one saying it. It is way easier said than done, but once you do it, it works.

Earlier this year, I hit a span of bad luck... sick cat, dead cat, wife in the hospital, wife back in the hospital, car implosion, all one after another. I spent months just generally mopey and depressed and completely unbearable to be around.

Finally, my wife sat me down and, with her loving and delicate manner, verbally beat my ass for staying so down in the dumps when we still had so much going for us. Two other happy and healthy cats, she was fine after the surgery and already back to work, we both had jobs, and the list goes on.

Even after said verbal beating, no matter how lovingly delivered, I opted instead to mope for another month before I decided she was right. We are still digging out from under the run of bad mojo, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

And really, at the end of the rant, that is the important thing to keep in mind. There is always light at the end of the tunnel.

Car...implosion? Do I even wanna know? And I may not know here, but from what I just read I really like your wife lol.

Thank you both for your words, I know things will work out but its so hard to think about the positive with everything blaring down on you all at once, like a medicinal trumpet.

Ooh no! Never put me in a kitchen! It's a Natural History Photography course.
I need the cutlery for my apartment haha. The other stuff is camera equipment and waterproof clothing. Things like that.

But I understand how you feel. I really do. My family is also moving house at the end of the month, so I'll be moving twice in the space of 2-3 weeks. I'm going insane!
I know we haven't spoken a whole bunch, be honestly, feel free to pm me or whatever any time you need to talk about anything <3

Ok not an irrelevant question: um how 'normal' are you current neighbors? If they're meals exactly on time, take the kids to music lessons neighbors, forget the first thing I'm about to say,

Go out and give yourself a good yell!

If your neighbors are far too boring to understand the need of a good scream, Go to a park and bring a roomie, friend or family member and let yourself scream! You'll laugh, they'll laugh, we'll all laugh and then scamper down the street, hop in your car and drive like mad back to your place! It's free, it's fun and it will let out some of the craziness you must endure right now.

I'm not mamma gann, but i have to recommend a healthy scream.

If the two options above aren't enough, pop in a scary movie on tv and just let yourself scream, giggle, ooh, shriek and talk back to the tv!

Go ahead Fela hon. I'll wait.

So I really wont have time to do much. I am so sorry everyone! Once school starts and I get everything paid and back into a regular schedule type thing I will be back in full swing. Until then just be patient with me. Thanks guys. :3
