You will have to bear with me, because positive thinking is really not my forte out in the real world, but here we go...
The important thing in times like this is to focus on the things you do have right now, instead of the things you don't. Now, I can already hear the "easier said than done", most notably because I am the one saying it. It is way easier said than done, but once you do it, it works.
Earlier this year, I hit a span of bad luck... sick cat, dead cat, wife in the hospital, wife back in the hospital, car implosion, all one after another. I spent months just generally mopey and depressed and completely unbearable to be around.
Finally, my wife sat me down and, with her loving and delicate manner, verbally beat my ass for staying so down in the dumps when we still had so much going for us. Two other happy and healthy cats, she was fine after the surgery and already back to work, we both had jobs, and the list goes on.
Even after said verbal beating, no matter how lovingly delivered, I opted instead to mope for another month before I decided she was right. We are still digging out from under the run of bad mojo, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
And really, at the end of the rant, that is the important thing to keep in mind. There is always light at the end of the tunnel.
