I don't understand, do I talk like I'm from California? Haha! I'm from Oregon but got Santa Rosa, Reno, and Stockton.

And I was disappointed they didn't have any questions with Gnarly in there! Ah well, suppose it wasn't important enough, huh?

Cool test Jen, I liked it!

Edit: I took it a second time just for the fun of it and I got a lot more questions that I was just all ,"Huh?" There was this one questions about some sort of diagonal road thing? What in the world was it talking about? XD Also, I find the one about the grass between the side walk and road funny. Some of you guys actually have a term for that? It's just considered part of the side walk technically here.

Though, I wish you could choose more than one answer on a few of them, for around here, we use a lot of different pronunciations and terms for the same thing. Like the roly poly. We call it the potato bug, roly poly, and many other names that were listed yet you had to choose.

And the Aunt one annoyed me because it had so many options but not one was the one I wanted. I say aunt as in "ant" and "ahunt" interchangeably.

Anywho, still fun! *goes off to make family and friends do it*

Zoya Update

Image
Zoya Brooke - A combination of deep pink, red and violet with fuchsia duochrome shimmer and subtle silvery frost. (Description on Zoya site.)
A bold pink that's a little bit punk rock but 100% girly.

The Zoya Code COLOR2014 is live now. Sure, its only supposed to work on 1/7 but they always go live about 24 hrs before. I've already placed my order and opted for spending the $24 (6 polishes @ $4 apiece) instead of paying the $12 shipping (3 polishes @ $4 apiece). BOGO is a good thing when these retail for $9 & $10 on the site, ebay, and in stores that carry Zoya. I got Tess, Tomoko, Ivy, Persiphony, Joy, and Brooke. If you got in on the code, what did you get? I have a lot of purples and greens from Zoya, and decided the Midori I already had was prettier than the Apple I was eying. So, today we're pink heavy with one textured Pixiedust in Silver to do nail art with.

It's funny. I love Zoya pinks, reds, purples and the in between colors and their one fantastic blue called Dream. But in terms of blue and green nail polishes overall, I much prefer Julep, China Glaze and Orly to Zoya. But no one does warm pinks and reds like Zoya. No one. And I picked up China Glaze Awakening today uptown shopping which nixed my plans to get Zoya's Faye since evidently they are almost identical dupes. See below.

Image
I can get China Glazes at Sally's with my discount card for $5.95 retail and I had $2 in credit on my discount card.

My dialect was pretty accurate - Central Pennsylvania! I was also pretty similar to a horizontal strip across the country... Thought that was pretty odd.

It said I was from either Boston, San Jose (California), or a place in Florida called Pembroke Pines.

I think I broke it :|

So, I just officially snagged myself an Apple, Dream and Happi. I know you opted to stick with Midori, but I couldn't resist the metallic aspect to Apple and I desperately needed some green in my life. I am a happy camper.

Also, I scored Arlington, Baltimore and Newark, all of which I happen to fall between. That is really crazy!

I thought the whole world knew the night before Halloween as Mischief Night...

As a Southern Californian, I am almost offended they gave me Fremont, Oakland, and San Jose. Almost. But, then again there's an Afghani kabob place in Fremont that literally makes my brain explode. And NorCal is pretty cool too, I guess.

Ahh, from one polish fiend to another, rock on Goss! Nail polish is awesome, and despite everything your man might say, no. You cannot ever have enough colors. I think I have enough polish stacked in my room for it to be a biohazard... :paranoid:

Out of curiosity, do you ever play mad scientist and mix your own? You seem like you would like that sort of crazy, fume-y trail blazing :D If you do, (or don't, regardless), I am so down to swap sometime if you're into that. I like snail mail, and I like them candy 'n polishes. I got lots of both, as well as some vintage bottles and brands plucked right out of Asia. If you ever feel like getting a surprise package full of random (non-lethal) craziness, lemme know, I will not disappoint |:)

*whispers* ohmygosh what if we had a nail swapping mini event on miz that would be so coolflkjdfgoirebejkfefijgdlfk

p.s. What the hell is this? Who makes such nonsense? Cause I need to have it.
WHAT?! *choir music explodes in the background*
okay, this is why I can no longer afford to look at nail polish on the interwebs

Vanari I think I love you. :-) I actually packed up all my dupes because I had a few and mailed them off to a fellow Mizaharian who coveted them. I had a couple due to a mystery add on from Julep and a subscription to an E.L.F. Beauty Bundle that sent me some mini dupes of full sizes I already had. But Im sure Ill have more. Plus you know how it is. Sometimes you get polishes that are fantastic in the bottle but look freakish with your skin tone. I'd totally be down for a swap or to hunt you down polishes I can get in my area that you cant and vice versa. Tell me what colors you like and we can snail mail some stuff. Oh and I do mix when the bottles get low. And Mystic Glacier is one of my lemmings! I laughed when I saw the link. Its never restocked. How do I know? Email notification. Ninja polish ftw.

Kate...Dream and Happi are two of my favorite Zoyas ever. MaryJ is too. You'll love that. Ill have to look up the others!

I'm glad a few of you got in on the Zoya deal. They will have more in the future too so if we know in advance we can help out you out of county gals get in on it too.

[Gossamer's Scrapbook] The Ethereal Canyon

Right?? It's weird how nail polishes can disappoint or surprise. Sometimes I get one I've been lemming for ages, and lose interest in it within 5 ticks of seeing the random one it came with that I'd gotten on a total whim.

Ahh that would be amazing!! I'm a little behind on what's new but there are 2 I have been trying to get my hands on without having to go online: OPI Stay The Night & Revlon Pumpkin Spice. I don't have high hopes for either, but those were at the top of my head. I searched all 3 Bed Bath & Beyonds near me and no Pumpkin Spice :( I also need to have BB Couture Vampy Varnish, but I might just crack and buy a bunch online soon. I am by no means picky though, I love surprises and I only hate 1 type of polish, which is frosty, but even those can have exceptions xD

What are you preferences, both candy and polish wise? I like chocolate 'o course, except the ones with fruity juices that ooze out...I dunno, those don't go down well for me. And sour candy forever! The more toxic the better :D At the moment I am loving dusty creme jellies and super saturated jellies! Like, think Nars Zulu or Nfu Oh 569, but 5x brighter and juicier. I'm craving a deep, true green jelly that looks like hazardously delicious poison, but who knows when someone will finally invent it. I've been trying on my own but I think you need to start from scratch with a color like that :( Maybe one day when I've retired early due to large sacks of money falling into my lap, I will go hunting for that perfect pigment.

I also like anything that reminds me of stars and the universe or generally requires a double take. I mashed together a bunch of pics of stuff I like, feel free to do the same! It would help me throw in more surprises :D (yes, I like Scrangie very much!)
warning: it's big :

In short: microglitter multichromatic jellies. And the adjectives just keep piling up as they poop out more and more complex weirdness. Speaking of which, I have been itching to just buy myself some chameleon pigment and mix my own multichromes. Alas, they only sell them in ridiculous quantities at a time for more money than I care to throw at them right after the holidays. But, now that I am thinking about it, perhaps, perhaps...

But yes, before this reply becomes a novel, I got lots of frankens, vintagey polishes, semi rares, international brands, magnetics, nail stickers, plates, and a smattering of others to throw into this mix. Also, I live near a lot of hipsters and have access to discounted Scotch Naturals, which are water based and don't smell like nail polish at all. Very weird, and very worth trying. I'll have to make a trip home this weekend to dig through endless boxes of colors, but I shall accumulate things in the coming days. Many, many things :D Hell, I could even try making a custom color for you. Just let me know what you'd like, and I will mad scientist it awaayy~

p.s. manglaze makes me laugh
