A Little History

I recently got a PM with some great questions about the time of Eypharian enslavement and I thought I'd share some of the answers with you.

1. When were the Benshiras enslaved?

Benshiras were enslaved for 3 generations before the Valterrian. So grandpa would be cursing the day he ever followed those Eypharian harpies. So lets say that's about 50 years (eras). Not everyone was enslaved, though. Other Benshiras were still living free lives in Hazahdar (Hai) and Yahebah. With others roaming.

2. Eypharian youth drew out the young Benshira into their towns. Was this seduction more of a sexual nature or rather based on world views and ideals (i.e. inviting to show life that was, like, so totally better ). And how long could Benshiras enjoy this new lustful life before they were in chains?

Excellent question, it was both. A kind of "stick it to your stodgy parents and come party with us". This period of hedonism lasted about a year before coming promptly to an end all at once. If you came with the late bunch, you only got one season of living the high life whereas the first batch had been living it up for an era.

3. Provided that slavery lasted longer than one Benshira's life time, would a smaller scale escape have been possible before the Valterrian?

Yes, absolutely. But it wasn't easy.

Thank you very much for the greeting. I think Benshira's are beautiful and have a rich culture.

I just finished up my character sheet, so that makes me happy to know that I'm officially Benshiran. Anyway, if I have any questions, I'll ask. I just hope I can do Alech (and Yahal!) justice.
