Contratulations to August's Featured Thread!

The Review

So this thread has a fairly simple plot, and a fairly common one in Ravok, but it's the nuances that made me nominate the thread. It starts off with Valerius purchasing a new slave, Melenna, and taking her home. He does the usual inspection, lays down the ground rules.. but then the thread gets a little more interesting. Now, it's not overly dramatic, but Melenna manages to discover a secret about Valerius that he is too proud to reveal to anyone else. She gets an inside look at the otherwise completely closed off man that nobody else ever has, and Valerius doesn't know how to handle it.

Melenna honestly isn't a very good slave. She's opinionated, talks back, and doesn't know how to behave very well. Even when she does behave, it is clearly laced with sarcasm. This at times drives Valerius crazy, but he's just as easily fooled when she pretends to play nice and be the perfect slave. The back and forth between the two PCs is entertaining, and really gives you a good look at their personalities.

While all this is going on, you also get an interesting look at Val's NPC slave, Tuuli, and how she feels about a new slave in the mix. Now, the thread was certainly lacking in action packed fight scenes and sexy redheads, but I still think it's deserving of a nomination. It gave a good look into the minds of both PCs, and I enjoyed reading it. Hopefully you will too.

"Life in Ravok" is definitely one of my favourite threads ever.

Melenna is a great writer.

I can't wait to find out what will happen in their new thread together.

And since you mentioned the lack of sexy redheads ... Val does at least have red hair. :lol:

You guys should be proud! I can't wait to sit down with a cup of hot chocolate and read it. I love reading other people's works to get ideas and inspiration as well as thoughts on personal improvement. You guys seem like you write well together. I hope you both individually keep it up, and I hope to see you two writing together in the near future as well!
