Appearance

With a tall stature, Noah can appear to be quite intimidating from afar but as one gets closer they would realize that he is in fact just a soft-faced individual and is actually quite thin. Noah’s face is decorated with calming features that seemingly push attention away from him, rather than draw it in. He appears plain unless one truly seeks to put the spotlight on him where they’d reveal each subtle feature, complementing one another until Noah’s face is really brought to light.

His eyes, a changing torrent of pale green, gray, olive, and hazel, given the correct lighting, stare down others with a fierceness. His stares, harboring an intensity much unlike the rest of his being, have been known to cause discomfort in those that they fall upon. Noah’s eyes are sensitive to change, noting everything as they dart to and fro in order to take in the man’s full surroundings in what detail he can manage before being distracting by another bauble. His eyes are topped with two brows full of expression. Brown like his hair, they offer insight to Noah’s quirky personality alone. His eyes and brows work together to display what Noah is thinking and feeling without using his entire face to portray his meanings. When confused, they scrunch up, lost in thought or lost in the passion of deciphering what was recently said or mentioned.

His ears, large for his head, hear what they can. With his eyes being his most powerful asset, his ears take second stage as a point of humor for those that would tease him. Growing up, they seemingly outgrew Noah at every turn, making him resemble that of an elephant or the infamous Dumbo. Despite having large ears, he has never been the best at hearing and struggles with hearing over large distances in his human form. Noah is often handicapped by his lack of hearing, using his eyes to bridge the gap between the major senses. They flank his head, panning outwards making them appear larger than they are when one takes him in a face-to-face value.

His mouth often remains in a neutral manner, not disturbed often by smiling or frowning. One could mistake it as indifference or lack of emotion, but the opposite truly stands. The emotion that Noah possesses isn’t outwardly displayed often and when it is, it can be taken as an almost magical thing. When Noah does smile, his lips curve into his cheeks, displaying deep dimples carved into his skin by genetic luckiness.

His hair is often placed atop his head with a done-up apperance. It's a brown that shines, granted by his gracious mother. Noah doesn't leave his home without his hair done in some kind of way, the most popular in the summer months being a style that allows him fringe to be pushed up. The natural curl that his hair possesses keeps this shape and when viewed from the side the style resembles that of a wave crashing against a rocky shore. His hair's curliness is emphasized when wet and drying. When in its true form his brown locks of hair sit on his head in a curly mess that seemingly adds a charm to his already playful appearance.

Outside from his face, Noah sports long legs and an average torso. He’s thin and prefers to wear clothes compliment that or draw away from it entirely, with an in-between not existing. Noah’s everyday wear in the warmer season consist of cotton shorts of a various color and a simple shirt with no real purpose but breathability. In the colder seasons Noah sports trousers made of wool, usually in black, a tunic covered by a leather jerkin to keep him warm. If feeling particularly mysterious he’ll sport a long white cotton cloak.

When shifted, Noah is a Golden Eagle. As a large bird of prey there are many of his features that are deemed extremely deadly and threatening to most. When in his eagle form Noah's heights shrinks considerable, going from an above average 6'1" (1.9m) to short 3'2" (1m). He sports dark brown feathers across most of his body -- he is, however, speckeld with white spots from his back, belly, and tail. His head possesses the same dark feathers but the flow of them is interrupted at his neck where there is a ring of lighter colored feathers. The tip of his beak however is a dulled black like worn out iron. His wings spread a remarkably long 7'6" across from white tip to white tip, compensating for his small stature with powerful, muscle ridden structures to keep him airborne. His talons are long, curved, and above all razor sharp. Perfect for taking down and quickly ending the life of his hunted targets.

The Marked Stormwarden - can befriend gentle breezes, bidding them to bend to his shallow will; judge the moods and temperaments of passing, stronger winds, even those of storms but cannot yet control them; can produce weak winds to carry words across small distances and do small things like snuff out candles.

The mark of Zulrav, a swirling hurricane, can be found on Noah's right shoulderblade. The mark appears to be sparse collection of swirls sharing a common eye that they orbit and eventually are drawn into.

The Past

Noah’s first cries to the world were heard on the 81st of winter in the year 507. Cold wintery gales were giving way to warm spring winds in Zeltiva and those winds brought with it storms that battered the shore city into submission. In a small, unremarkable home Noah’s father waited anxiously for the last son of his to arrive. During that faithful night, a storm had crossed over from the Suvan Sea and began its conquest of the coastal city.

Noah’s mother’s labor began in the early afternoon of that day, while Zulrav’s winds began their preparation for advance. She was eating lunch with her husband when the first contractions came upon her in waves. Her water broke in the same instant. Before Noah’s father knew it, Isabella was screeching in pain, the first few contractions being abnormally strong, stronger than her past four children. The day dragged on and Viktor, Noah’s father and Isabella’s husband, kept a watchful if not anxious vigil over his wife as she went through the proceeding of labor and then birth.

The winds whipped against the small home, threatening to tear it down the walls altogether. Noah’s siblings failed to show due to the intensity of the storm and were left stranded in town, for fear of the storm claiming their lives along with mizas worth of property damage. Noah’s parents were alone in the ordeal and faced it bravely, hand in hand. Being Kelvic’s they sought a comfort in one another, using the strength found in their primal forms to brave through the situation.

Noah’s first cries of life were barely audible over the pounding winds, sheets of rain, and crackling thunder. Isabella held the boy close to her chest as the storm raged on, relishing in the moment with her husband and new baby boy. When the storm came to pass and Noah’s siblings arrived home, joyous feelings were felt that followed Noah through the first breaths and memories of life.

As a child Noah was a blonde haired, blue eyed boy before growing into his present dark brown locks of hair and faded green eyes. The early years proved to be a sheltered breeze for the young Kelvic. In those years he found himself rapidly learning the Common language and Kelvic way of life. Frequently he was exposed to the nudeness of his siblings and parents and learned that his body was something to be unashamed of as all humans and non could be appreciated in some way or another. Though, he was warned that most humans and other humanoid races valued their privacy and that he shouldn’t pry at the expense of others.

Noah discovered his sifted form by accident in his first three years of life, shifting into that of a small golden eagle chick during a game of hide and seek with his siblings where his eldest brother Ryon scared him into feathers. His brother was welling with pride at their shared form, knowing it very rare for parents and children to share forms. In fact, it was more common for a hare Kelvic to give birth and race a bear Kelvic than for an eagle to birth and raise another eagle. With the discovery, Noah’s life became further shelter, raised to a pedestal as his mother’s last babe.
Image
In years four and five of his life Noah found himself as a preteen, resembling that of a young man before the rapids of puberty. He accompanied his father on various trips to the docks of Zeltiva where he took a liking to the Fratavan language, becoming proficient enough to trade on his own when needed. Around this time Noah noticed his sisters growing ever distant from the family, wanting to branch out on their own in order to find their bond mates and grow families of their own. This was something that he didn’t understand at the time and took it to heart when they frequently dismissed his requests for play or talk. Eventually Tonya and Belle did leave the small house they once called home, both venturing to Syliras across the Cobalt Mountains to strike out on their own.

The following year (year six) Noah became more independent. Alone he began to perfect his shifted forms manners for hunting, and often went on secluded hunting trips alone, without the aid of his mother. He also found himself looking to Zulrav for a guide when no one else would provide the answers. What he didn’t understand is why the god failed to return his words, but at the advice of his mother, he continued to speak with the god, eventually placing his trust in the deity entirely.

During the same year of his life Noah was the only child left at the Amuel house. His brothers left the small home shortly after his sister, but instead stayed in Zeltiva to keep close to home should they ever need to return through an emergency or another. At this age Noah found comfort in his mother’s presence but grew ever anxious as the seasons waned on. He yearned to leave home, following in the footsteps of his sisters. He had heard much on Syliras on his trips with his father to the docks of Zeltiva where he engaged in trade. Often times, there’d be a merchant there who would humor Noah in his many questions about the castle city.

During this year, his sisters visited home and told him all about the castle city, pushing Noah to leave as soon as possible.

Gnosis Story :
People of all ages and sizes have different ways of dealing with situations that cause them stress or leave them hopeless. A toddler throws a tantrum, a woman of belief prays to her god, and some even look to the pleasures of sin to cloud their minds from the stresses of life. Kelvics often lose themselves in their natural habitat: the wild. Some even take it further than that, becoming completely in tune with their wild element, spending days if not weeks, in this state to isolate themselves from the worries of the social world, a world free of wild animals and wide ranges.

The weeks after moving to Syliras had caused the family-oriented Noah more stress than he could've imagined. Often he found himself restless when in bed or distracted when trying to focus on a particular task. All of these symptoms had one commonality: they were thoughts of home. He missed the smiling face of his mother, the outright gruffness of his father, the over confidence of his older brothers, and the sarcastic wit of his sisters. He missed all of their unique traits and he had nothing to remotely replace that vague feeling of belonging that he had when he was home in Zeltiva.

The home that he had primarily called his second home became his first. The sky had adopted him much like it did his mother when she was cast out of house and home. Though Noah had left by choice, she didn’t and her teachings on the sky and wind played an important part in his alone time with the world and its gods. His mother, Isabella, was a follower of Zulrav, her patron deity and had proven to be Noah's too though he hadn’t held the god in such an accord as she. Often she said she could hear Him when she flew, His breath holding her in the air by flowing beneath her wings when she shifted. Noah had always regarded the wind as doing what it was supposed to and what it usually did: blow.

The wind did that now. It blew gently against his bare chest, speckled with dark brown hairs, and it blew against his naked legs after he pulled off his breeches and lastly came his small clothes. Around his neck lay a pendant, his mother’s gift to him before his departure from home. She had begged him not to go, cried, and put up wall after wall until finally the day came for him to leave. On that day her attitude took a change for the sincere. She hugged him the tightest of his immediate family and bestowed her necklace upon him. It came as a shock but he was relieved that he hadn’t lost her love. Of all the people in the world she was the most dear to him.

He smiled, twirling the precious stone in his hand. It was a gift from Zulrav, she said. It was wind-shorn, eroded completely by wind alone, in place for who know how many thousands of years. She said that she was led to it by His voice on the wind. There was a storm brewing that evening and the god had instructed her to take shelter before it hit. This was years before Noah’s time, she would always remind him bitter-sweetly. The storm came and went and when she emerged from the cave, unscathed by the whipping winds and pelting rain, she found the stone outside, shining in the new daylight. The stone was too valuable to her to be defaced by a drill, instead she tied it tightly in hemp, hemp that had frayed and had been reinforced many times throughout her years.

The stone was smooth to the touch, purified of imperfections long ago by Zulrav’s breath and by his mother’s careful touch and care. The stone very much received the same treatment that Noah did as a boy when he was raised. Or was it he that received the same treatment as the stone? It was hard to say.

He pulled the hemp strand over his head and set it in the crook of a tree’s branches along with his clothing. He buried it under the collection of cotton and linen to hide it from would be robbers and as he did so the wind whistled against the bare branches above. He looked up, startled. "Zulrav does not hurt those that follow", his mother’s words rang in his mind. Noah swallowed and nodded to the wind, to the god. Then he took to the ground in a jog before shifting in a flutter of wind.

Instantly he climbed, higher and higher until the thin winter air filled his lungs and the beating of his wings dulled out the sound of his thoughts. He would not think, not now. Not while he flew. There was no true motivation behind this flying except for the release of stress and hindrance of thought. What may come shall come, but as the thoughts left his mind he was rocked by a gust in the wind. He teetered but regained control of his flight. The gust came abruptly and it was out of the ordinary. He did not sense a storm coming as he usually would before the wind picked up. Yet there was no one in the sky and he felt as if he was being watched.

The sky was his domain, he flew higher than all other avians and none dared to defy his threatening vantage. And yet someone was here, pushing him. Another gust came and he fought against it, beating his wings in defiance. He bore hard against the wind, turning into it now, pushing against it with all his might. What was this feeling that overcame him to do this. Never had he fought against the wind but now he felt as if it was testing him, pushing him to overcome it, but what was it? The wind or a problem?

“There is a terrible trouble in you, child,” a voice came in a deep wave.

Noah felt himself tense in startle. "Who’s there?" he called. The wind slowed to a gentle breeze and he stopped his defiant beating. He hovered, pumping his wings occasionally to keep his altitude.

The voice groaned, contemplative. “You come here often,” it continued. Noah felt the presence in its fullness now. He felt the wind swirling around him, appearing white midst the usual clear. “But why?” The apparition rolled towards Noah and its touch on the Kelvic’s feathers was gentle. “There’s a trouble in you.”

"Who are you?" Noah asked the wind, he felt calm but curious.

“I have been called many names child. They once called me the Harsh One, The One that Hisses in the Night, and even the Slap of the World. I go by the names they call me, the one they call me now, however, is Zulrav.”

"Zulrav..." Noah repeated slowly.

“Yes. Are you afraid?”

In truth the Kelvic was conflicted. He wasn’t afraid in the sense that the wind was gentle to him and the god’s words -- although deep -- were not threatening. His touch was gentle and the way he swirled around Noah now made him feel secure. But, he couldn’t help but feel afraid. This was a god, an almighty being with the power to crush cities if the tale tellers could be trusted. "I am," he answered, half-truth half-lie.

“It is wise to be afraid, as in fright one can only show bravery or courage. This is what you show now, you have yet to retaliate against my words, you accept my presence and my words. Just as I accept you into my winds and my skies. You do not need to tell me why you’re here, Noah. You come to the winds much like your mother before you, for counsel. Even if they do not speak words that you understand, you take its counsel to heart.

“You are here today for that reason but you did not expect this. You did not expect me to be here, to speak to you in such a way. I come with no ill merits but in curiosity. I’ve seen you talking to my winds very much in the same fashion as your mother, even when you’re alone I often mistake the two of you. But upon closer inspection I see your turmoil where I saw her inner peace. She once had the same conflict as you, child. The both of you were lonely but the circumstances are changed. You are lonely in a place where you would otherwise belong while she was lonely in a place where she was cast out of house and home, family taken from her by a beast in the night.” Zulrav took a pause. “Fly with me under your wings, Noah.”

He did just that. He took flight again but with the god beneath his wings. He glided high and fast, propelled by the breath of the wind. It blew, centralized around him. It propelled him forward, engulfed him and fused with him. Zulrav’s breath and he became intertwined together. This flying did not fatigue him in any way, instead he felt empowered. Any turn that once required the use of his wings did not, all he needed was Zulrav to push against him gently in any which way and the turn came with ease. As did climbing and descending. He fell now, wings tucked, and body angled towards the barren canopy of the trees. His speed increased and in the moments before impact he opened his wings and fanned his tail feathers, stopping with a halt and cushion from Zulrav himself. He climbed again, gliding upwards on the breath of the wind alone.

“Do you see what happens when you work with the wind rather than against? I feel your joy come in waves and stressors leaving all the same. You and the my wind work together in a way not many times experienced by me nor mortals. If those that can work with the wind do so in a such a way without the gift who knows what they can produce with the gift,” the god spoke as Noah climbed.

“You have come to my winds with your troubles, entrusted me with you life in the sky, and have shown me a loyalty few could ask for. Even though you belief has wavered at times, you have displayed an attunement to my element, an attunement that seems to run in your blood. This gift is deserving of you as your mother’s child and follower of my ways.”

The wind picked up around Noah, he suddenly felt scared again and his heart skipped a bit and his chest tightened but by the gentle touch of the flurrying wind he was calm again. Although the wind whipped around him in blinding white tornadic displayal he felt entirely calm, joyous even. In his wonderment he was transfixed in the middle of the cyclone and Zulrav spoke once more.

“You shall be my eyes, my ears, and my voice on the ground and a representation of what I stand for in the sky. I pronounce you a Stormwarden. In honor of such, I mark you with my symbol; a symbol of dedication of your prayers and a piece of me to always be with you.” The god’s voice boomed in thunder around him and the winds halted with a whirl. “Use your power wisely and with thought, Noah.”

He felt the presence disappear around him but he no longer felt the load of the stress or the worries of home. He felt light as air and as did his soul. He was no longer alone in the sky or on the ground with the wind. Zulrav was always with him and now he had a piece of him to prove not only to himself but to those that did not believe. Most importantly, he couldn’t wait to write his mother tonight. She would be proud.

Personality

Image
Upon first meeting Noah, one would notice instantly that they were being stared down by his intense orbs for eyes. He is a Kelvic of few words, only choosing to talk when he deems it necessary or in the company of those he is comfortable with. In situations where he is engaging with those he does not know or is getting to know, he can act socially awkward, unable to pick up on obvious social cues at times, leading to further situations where the other person would feel their space violated or his questions too prying or him feeling suddenly unwanted.

Few have seen the quirky and playful side of Noah that he often displays with those that he feels able to relax around. In this mood, he often makes silly faces, teases his friend, and is less prone to being upset when teased himself. He relishes in this mood, showing a true form that few have seen.

As a socially inept person attempting to be social, Noah tries hard to make and keep the friends and acquaintances that he acquires through his life. However, he is known to come on too strong, prying at his would be friend for information that usually takes several meetings before the average person would spill. On the flip side, Noah can also act too distant, misjudging those that would be welcome to his prying ways and instead treating them with an uncomfortable distance that eventually drives them away. He will also treat some people with distance and suddenly change his ways of interacting with them, quickly becoming a prying person, much to the distaste of those who prefer consistency in those they interact with.

As an avian Kelvic, Noah has an obsession with seeing everything about his surrounding to understand how he would need to escape from an unfavorable situation or just to sate his curiosity. He may seem as if he isn’t listening at times when his eyes are darting to and fro far above and beyond the head of his partner. It is usually mistaken as a rude gesture on his part and leaves him wondering why few speak with him after first encountering him.

The Heirloom

Noah's mother gave him a wind-shorn stone made from a material unknown to the Kelvic and his family. Noah's mother, Isabella, claimed that the stone was given to her by Zulrav during a passing storm in Zeltiva and she bestowed it upon Noah so that he may have a piece of her, his family, and their god with him at all times. The stone is wrapped in hemp tightly and has been bound and rebound many times in order to preserve the stones beauty without defacing it with a drill and tether. Noah wears this makeshift amulet wherever he goes and can't be found without it. If he is found without it, the fault is not his.

Housing

As of the 40th of Summer, Noah upgraded his lease and apartment at the Traveler's Row. He lives in simplicity only possessing a small dining table surrounded by four chairs and a sofa -- flanked by an end table -- placed in front of his hearth. In his bedroom you'd see his large bed with two more end tables flanking either side of it. At the foot of it one would see a large chest where he places his collected valuables. On the south side of the bedroom one would also notice a armoire of ancient appearance that holds his clothing. A floorplan is available below.
