The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

This is only an input you could think of at some point Mi. I would find it really good with a better map over the peaks and their tiers and important buildings. It would also be useful to get a common view on how the bridges look, which bridges there are, how people and goods are transported in the city and it’s surroundings . In addition, we could use an estimate of the time it takes to travel between peaks, and to the fields below and to the harbor.

I don't understand your question Bennar. Any wizard can understand what a glyph can say, a non-wizard can't read what a glyph may say.

If you don't have skills in Auristics or Glypghing then you're out of luck when it comes to identifying a real wizard. Though I suppose you're not entirely out of luck if you could find another who has sufficient skills in Glyghing, then you can just have them draw a glyph on a scroll and you can just carry it around.

Since the Shinya are only trained in projection, I'm sure this will be their method of identifying mages.

Hmmm ... I must admit I don't really get this glyph thing.

Are the shinya going to carry around a glyph ? How, in which way will they use it to identify mages who aren't wearing insignia ? Will the glyph tell them this if they open the scroll in front of a person ?

"If this scoll is opened in front of a mage the text on this parchment will go red" ???

I haven't ever seen this being used before so please bear with me.

I would say don't try to make this too technical. The insignia is used to identify wizards, if a wizard doesn't wear it they can't get into the wizard only resources, and if the wizard go crazy or something the consequences will be a lot worse because they could not be easily identified as a wizard so the warning signs may be ignored if they, say, go into overgiving. Also if a wizard uses self defense and doesn't have something that signifies they are a registered wizard the Shinya may accidentally perceive them as a threat. In the end ICly it is required you wear your patch/insignia, but every player is free to choose if they do or not. It is just much more beneficial if you do :)

How about a cloth armband that can easily be transferred from one item of clothing to another, similar to the system the Nazis used that required Jews to wear the Star of David.

Not that I'm trying to make comparisons to a Fascist regime. But an armband would negate the necessity of having to sew on multiple patches for those who own more than one outfit.

The glyph is painted on a scroll, which the Shinya can carry around easy enough.

Glyphs are just one written form of Ancient Tongue. All mages have the inherent sense of knowing what they mean. When a Shinya want's to confirm a person is indeed a mage they can simply have them read what is said on the scroll. If they can't answer then two options exist. Either they truly are not a mage or they are a mage and are lying. At that point it rests in the Shinya's hands to tell if they are lying or not.

This certainly is not the best method of identifying a mage, but it definitely will be useful against those claiming to be a mage.

And here I am getting too technical with it...

Lol this was never intended to be anything similar to Nazi Fascism, so I would honestly prefer not to do arm bands. More and more I am leaning away from patches and probably medallions or something similar. Something to give people options and different ways to accessorize. I wanted these to become something mages were proud to show off and did so willingly. So any suggestions for different methods of displaying the insignia I am open for ^.^

Maybe a sash with the emblem of the House? That sort of seems to go along with the style of fashion in Lhavit from my understanding.

Make all mages wear bright colored miters, then I can have a good laugh

Seriously though, I was thinking of some kind of ring with an insignia, kind of like those kings and royal houses of old supposedly had to prove their identity when signing letters and all. Or an earring maybe? I think jewelry might be the best option indeed or badges. You can easily transfer a badge from one piece of clothing to another, right? Just a couple ideas.
