[Bronze Woods] Night in the Woods (Garland)

Morgan yawned again. The lack of sleep was beginning to get to her, but strangely it also made her talkative and relaxed. With closed eyes, she listened to Garland's story. After he finished, she was silent for a while, lost in thought. Then she sighed, turned toward Garland and gave him a look of sympathy.

“I’m sorry to hear about your parents, but I’m absolutely sure they would be proud of you. Look at you! A Squire!” she grinned at him. “But at least you somehow know what happened to them. Mine just dropped me of near the city and…” she remarked a little bitterly, shrugged and turned back to stare at the roof of the tent.

The Kelvic hadn’t really thought about how her parents died, or if they died. All the time, she had been angry at them about being forced to spend the past year in that terrible place. Well, it wouldn’t be that terrible if some of the little brats didn’t make her life hell. But, she thought with a little dark smile, she made sure that their days in the orphanage weren’t exactly a paradise either. They weren’t expecting a girl like her to fight back, so she did. She wasn’t like most of the weaker kids there who just took the treatment of the bullies patiently and silently.

What were her parents like anyway? They couldn’t be very good and caring parents if they gave her up, she thought. But maybe they had some very good reason to give her up. She wanted to believe it, but somehow it didn’t work. If only she could meet at least one of her parents and make them explain!

She turned back to her new friend. “So, um, I’m glad that I met you. Could we perhaps meet sometime and do something together? I would… That would be great.” She said awkwardly and smiled uncertainly at the Squire.

He gave a small yawn, feeling the effects of lack of sleep.

“But at least you somehow know what happened to them. Mine just dropped me of near the city and…”

He wasn't going to go any deeper into this subject, mostly because he didn't want to give himself a dream of what could have been if his parents were still alive, he didn't want to think about it, and he's grateful for what he has, arguably isn't much, but he's still happy for what little he has.

With a deep and relaxed sighed, he placed his hands behind his head. It was nice calm night, not too cold and not too hot, and he was a friend, he had never really liked sleeping alone.

“So, um, I’m glad that I met you. Could we perhaps meet sometime and do something together? I would… That would be great.”

He turned to look at her, and with a smile he replied. "Of course, I would love to meet up with you one day, It'll be fun, and I still need to teach you how to fight, and... Thanks for staying with me."

He gave a yawn and relaxed a bit more. "Goodnight, see ya in the morning." He closed his eyes, and waited for his body and mind to ease up enough to sleep.
