"Family" Heirlooms

Postby Violet Y'laerth on July 16th, 2015, 3:01 am

A very quick question, the rules seem to indicate that an heirloom is something given by a biological family member, and do not seem to account for any other situation, e.g. a gift from a close but unrelated friend or a mentor/sensei/etc.

Is the latter, an heirloom acquired from a non-relative, acceptable (provided it adheres to all the other stipulations regarding heirlooms)?

An heirloom can be anything gifted, found, disovered, that's been a long time treasured item of said PC. :)

"Family" Heirlooms

Hey there,

The purpose of the heirloom in the starting package is to add a bit of extra uniqueness to your starting package. It can literally be anything you want that is under 50 GM and isnt magical. It can be anything, from anyone, as long as its important or has some significance to your PC you are golden (For example, one could take an heirloom as the knife that was used to kill your family with -insert tragic backstory here- and said PC wants to use said knife to kill the killer). I use mine as a story tool a lot, that is what heirlooms are good for in my opinion. Be creative with it and have fun.

Good luck starting,

Rayage

EDIT- Kelski beat me to it :P
