Good lord, I apparently have no consistent writing style of my own... I got, in the following order for posts tested: Dan Brown, Anne Rice, Stephanie Meyer (I cried, and cried, and then wanted to stop writing, then cried some more), Isaac Asimov, and Dan Brown again.

Apparently, I write like Ursula K. Le Guin, Stephen King and J. D. Salinger depending on the post. I wrote them in the same 24 hours. I am inconsistent but not sure if I should be sad.

Wow Caelum, this is cool.

I tried it with 6 different posts to be sure, and it seems I write like Neil Gaiman. I got him 4/6 times.
The other 2 were J. K. Rowling which is quite cool.

[Caelum's Scrapbook] Use Your Words.

Postby Faroul on August 16th, 2011, 7:08 pm

So in the interest of having a proper sample size, I plugged in each of my posts. The results were varied and amusing:

Rudyard Kipling x 3
Douglas Adams
Anne Rice
Dan Brown x 3
Arthur Clarke x 2
H.P. Lovecraft
H.G. Wells

And some non-Mizahar writings yielded:
Ray Bradbury
James Joyce
Anne Rice

I am really curious as to what criteria this gizmo uses. Sentence structure? Word choice? Or does it just select an author from its database randomly? I wouldn't be surprised.

However, as seemingly unreliable as it may be, it is durn fun. Thanks for sharing it, Caelum! I hope your week starts looking up. :)

These are awesome.

I think I agree with Faroul, though, in questioning its accuracy. For one thing, if Tarot writes like Dan Brown then I'll eat my foot. I have spent years making fun of and despising Brown in turn. I refuse to believe our own Tarot is anything like him.

Using a different writing sample, it told me I was Margaret Atwood. Atwood and Rowling -- What is it trying to say about me? That's I'm, ah, diverse? Granted, I would slap my mother to be genuinely and favorably compared to either of those authors; but that's besides the point.

Fun times, however, any way you look at it. Glad y'all like it too!

I got Anne Rice, Stephen King, and then Gertrude Stein. I suppose I am not too consistent...
