Forming a Group in Syliras?

Simon, after a quick glance at your CS skills so far I think you would fit perfectly in the 'Order'. (We really need a better name, I think)

For example, how would we know when to strike or where to strike or where to protect without information? Someone like Simon, who is basically build up for infiltration and information gathering, could easily get into groups or organizations and find out the information we would need. Where will bandit group X strike next? Where does Ravokian infiltrator group Y hold their hostages? I think someone like Simon would be perfect for that part of the job.

For example, for Ronan, I don't see him doing any fighting what so ever. But somebody has to pay the bills and count the money and talk to the clients, so I believe, that Ronan would one of the better fits for this position. Of course, should he ever be attacked, he has a little skill he can use to defend himself but I'm hoping that a squad of 'Order' guards are always between Ronan and danger.

It's important that we don't forget that we build out of our 'Order' is not simply a group of people protecting others but an organization that makes sure people are protected even when the 'Order' is not around. At least, that's how I see it. Let me know what you think.

In that case, you can certainly count Sig in. While she can't be counted as 'good,' she definitely isn't 'evil' other. As for bettering the city in her own way; well, yep, she'd definitely try at least! (Even if her idea of betterment is odd and her methods might end up being even stranger.)

Does anyone have any good names for this order? Something that goes along with the main themes of helping, protecting, healing and caring for the commonfolk, especially those displaced?

Here's a few

The People of Syliran Body, or PSB - with this title, it doesn't aim at a specific requirement, such as skills and such. the only thing you have to be is a Syliran.

Assistant of the Order - self explanatory. we just help the order.

S-Squad - just for the lols

If we're going for the lols, I think we should have Mizahars own Odd Squad.

If not, perhaps G2 or G4, as in Go to guy and gopher: A low-ranking employee who is made to do the bidding of their superiors. So-called because they are often running around doing various small tasks.

I'm always up for the cliche epic names like Templars, Rangers, etc etc, although I don't think any of those would really fit our group.

What about no name? We just do our thing without a name?

Forming a Group in Syliras?

Actually I think that this order of ours should have some form of name that would impress upon the regular people that we are a serious group who are out to do good.

On the other hand, I think the types of names created in the Game of Thrones were quite nicely done... Giving an idea of the nature of the order with originality and without being too ostentatious about it. (Ie, The Faceless Men, The Night Watch, The Kingsguard)

And with regards to not having a name... That doesn't seem too practical as we want people to be able to know who we are and to be able to feel comfortable in coming to us for help. So here are some of my ideas (feel free to generate your own... But we must decide soon.)

1) The Watchmen or the Men of the Watch: basically stems from the idea of being a type of guardians for a city although not necessarily in an official capacity, more like a militia group

2) Sentinels of Syliras

3) The Masked Men... Masks are only worn in battle, those with more diplomatic/non-combat duties will have a mask but will rarely need to wear them outside ceremonial purposes. Helps create a group identity wear all members wear some form of masks, usually painted to inspire fear in their enemies, hopefully in time these masks could be made out of some sort of metal for protection purposes, but for now, it'll be made out of clay (personal favourite)

The masked men are usually the bandits, so I don't think naming ourselves after the people we fight against is a good idea. What about simply the name The Masks? And then instead of having a very defining and well known name we have a very defining and well known piece of outfit, namely the metal/clay/pewter/leather masks that the members wear while on duty? Because what we need is not necessarily a name that people will remember but something that stands out and helps them remember us. The name will automatically come later when we start doing good things around the city while wearing our emblems/outfits/masks.
