Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Surprise lit Caelum's gold colored eyes when the Svefra took his hand, bemusement fall into his expression; but he listened, keen to the direction of her need. The idea of it, just the idea, made his smile soften and grow more real. It was a cozy, tender sort of need Teresa emanated, and one that was surprisingly unselfish. Not that he necessarily believed her to be a selfish person, but that they were all selfish, hungry individuals, at base stripped to little more than an evolved artform of djed and a drive to survive at all costs.

"That's not a bad idea," he admitted to her, the Common language a little cumbersome on his tongue; but his mouth was made for the Celestial language, as unspeakable by mortal means as it was preserved in immortal memory. Humor bit quick to his regard. He was imagining Tanroa's reaction to such a phrase. Maybe he was not the only self righteous fool to have cursed before in the presence of a goddess.

Well, he hoped he wasn't. Fortunately, Rak'keli was the forgiving sort.

When Teresa sat back down, Caelum idled around on his heel to wander back toward the others. When he saw Vanator had arrived, he flashed the Ankal that reserved smile of his. It was familiar, however, to the members of the Sanctuary, and mayhaps in that somewhat comforting.

"Hey," he muttered, stopping at the Drykas' side. He winked at Sybel, and then lifted his hand after Kavala as she moved away. "Do you think I can safely get away with going straight to the party? There's got to be wine, or ale. Something strong. Right?" He blinked over at Vanator.

”I actually haven’t, practice or practical. Sorry…” Rosela winced at Favchean’s inquiry into her dagger practice, suddenly embarrassed that she hadn’t kept up with it. ”I got a big order in at work so a lot of my free time’s gone there this season. …Maybe we can meet up sometime for another afternoon in the park?” Her smile was part hopeful and part apology. It had been a fun time, but her Sanctuary Project had been a bear to keep up with at the shop.

She poked him suddenly, turning more playful. ”Speaking of, you haven’t visited me at my shop yet! You’d look great in black. Or a nice dark blue.” Someone else joined the group clustering around Kavala, and Rosela looked up abruptly as she realized she recognized this one as well. He clearly had a deep connection to both Kavala and Sybel, and Rosela drew a mental blank as to his relationship to either of them. She knew he worked at the Sanctuary, but that was it. ”Vanator! Well, don’t you look fabulous!” At his mention of beads, she sighed deeply in mock-dissatisfaction. ”I suppose I’ll have to forgive you. So long as you stop by the shop again; it’s been too long.” Favchean was apparently acquainted with him as well, and revealed that Vanator was in fact due to be married. Surprising, but not entirely unexpected.

No sooner did she get to see Kavala than she was taking off, bearing the burden of her child-to-be off into the festival. With her own makeup finished, Rosela realized she had the option of following, or going off to visit one of the other tents. Upon consideration, she realized she had no intention of letting anyone with only two arms mess about with her hair, and visiting the spa tent would leave her smelling like nail paints and massage oil. There’d be drinks and such at the party, and she’d need something on her stomach if she wasn’t to end up a lush three bells into the evening.

”You know I think,” She punctuated the word with a pat on Favchean’s arm. ”I’m going to head home for a little rest and a bite to eat, and then I’ll head to that party myself. I’ll see you there, right?” She smiled brightly up at him. She’d heard they were going to post the prize list, and she was dying to see what was up for grabs. After getting so worked up, it seemed inconceivable that she not win…but at the very least, she’d get to see who was the prettiest girl in Riverfall, so she’d have a target to beat.

As the impromptu gathering of friends began to break up, Vanator turned back to Rosela, promising to visit her shop to add to his winter wardrobe, and nodded a broad smile to the dark-skinned Alakak next to her. They all looked beautiful, Kav, Bel, Rosela, even the blonde who seemed taken with Caelum.

Vanator flashed a grin at the Ethaefal. He assured his friend there would be much drink at the party. Leaving Kavala and Sybel each with a kiss, Kavala's on her cheek, Sybel's a long, lingering press against her painted lips, The oldest Denusk insisted he finish his business in town, but promised to meet them all at the party later. As the women moved back into the crowd, the amused Drykas noted many admiring eyes followed them.

She gasped and giggled a bit at the press of Vanator’s lips, fingering at the many strands of beads looped around her neck. She was happy – no, relieved to be in his presence. It’d been a fine night thus far, but there had been something missing and now she knew why. The light of Van’s smile had been absent. Thus, when he departed she left soon after, though it was mostly to track down Kavala and Riaris.

She was sure to return Caelum’s wink before trailing off, singing quietly about Sivah and celebration. Perhaps this night was the night to make new friends.

Exit stage left!

At the Eypharian on his arm, Favchean gave a low chuckle, as much as his mother would love to see his wardrobe be...enhanced, the Akalak himself would be just as happy if his current leather serviceable clothing lasted him another ten years. However, it would not hurt to embellish, particularly since he was getting to be the age where most Akalak males began to satisfy their ..procreational duties to their race.

"I tell you what my Dear," he said leaning closer toward the dark haired beauty, a grin creased his dark face showing brilliantly white teeth, "I will finish teaching you the rest of the dance of the dagger, if you will help in choosing some more flattering garments for one such as myself?"

His free arm raises to try and capture the hand she pats his other arm with to give it a gentle squeeze before pulling back just a little. "Of course you will see me there, I wouldn't miss seeing who would be crowned the most beautiful of Riverfall," he gave her a playful wink, "as if I didn't already know." That is one of the things he enjoyed about Rosela, the playful banter and flirtiness. She was safe, and it was harmless fun. "Save me a dance." With that said he bent his head in a farewell greeting and followed the others as they drifted from the tent.
