He fell quiet upon their arrival as he could only wonder what Fallon had to think of him thus far, he certainly didn't expect everything he shared to give off the "this is one impressive man" vibe. Still that wasn't the important thing to worry about as they had a task to carry out, one that involved figuring out where the source of this drug was and putting a stop to its shipments. No doubt there would be noticeable consequences but this time none that would risk a chance of backfire, considering Rick's last endeavor left loose ends unintentionally. Her remark about his talk with the skills he possessed made him realize that he might've actually sounded proud of his abilities, which in a sense was accurate but the act had been unintentional. "Well Oi uh... didn't mean t' sound like Oi bragged. Really Oi hold confidence in me own abilities, but hopefully ye're roi about d'at." At least he could agree with the idea of not having to back up his own words, already he felt enough had been at stake without having to engage with the culprits.

To do so now would not only threaten them but also potentially damage chances of solving this mystery, which was far from preferable in his standards by any means. When he finally seemed to be given an answer about her own abilities, it seemed like he struck a nerve or hit a boundary somehow. Rather than indulge his curiosity she settled for a simple answer met with a look he thought spelled trouble, and of course with her response to the question the fisherman nodded towards the subtlety that he found within her words. Privacy. She had a background she didn't want to be known, or at least he gathered that much well enough. She had a past she didn't seem proud of, or just didn't want her history to be known. Perhaps it resided in a matter of personal trust and she had none with him just yet, they did after all just met an agreed to investigate together. How naive of him to be so forthcoming then, without even considering the possibility that he'd been too straightforward with her. He didn't feel as though he shared too much, perhaps he thought wrong though? Did he make her uncomfortable in anyway? Did his occasional rambles agitate her at some point? Dammit! Now ain't de time t' be worried 'bout d'at. Got t' focus on lookin' around. He snapped himself back into the frame of mind he needed, eyes brought down to the stone floor as he examined the prints closely.

Fallon seemed to kneel down when she noticed something, and he in turn did the same next to the prints he stood next too. He knelt to the ground and squinted his eyes with hope that they'd adjust more to the dark, fingertips brushed against the stone and mud as he bit his lower lip. Dried to the surface but the inner residue of the mud still felt a little wet, though just barely so it gave an indication that the prints were indeed quite recent. He stood up and wondered where they would lead to, if they were to backtrack the direction the prints came from that is. At that point he walked next to Fallon and stood quiet, surprise found in his eyes when she held up what appeared to be a vial. "Huh." When he accepted the glass tube he felt a bit of powdery residue cling to his fingers, a grimace turned his lips as he raise his index finger towards his nose for a whiff. The smell of... whatever this stuff was made his nose itch, just the scent of it irritated his nostrils with that one whiff. "Eyck. Definitely gotta be whatever d'at shyke he overdosed on, has d'at stench 'bout it anyways... my guess is he came from closer t' de docks somewhere. Maybe he was wit' some friends when he got 'is fix?"

He didn't wish to presume too much so he looked to her once she rose, the vial gripped firmly in his hand as he thought more on it. "There's a pretty good chance we can git a bit o' direction from his tracks, t'ough Oi doubt we'll find will it lead us t' de source." So far he could piece together the story he collected about this guy, the evidence pointed out well enough that he'd definitely went and got his fix, however he doubted one such as him would be alone if these fixes came in organized shipments. "Oi'll bet if we find out where he went after he got d'is, we'll learn where he got it at d'at place." He added with a grim expression present, he definitely felt concerned with where this could lead them now.

Spirit In the Night

There was a dampness on the wall she noted, her fingers picking up the damp in the air caused by the salt and waves. She rubbed them together, the lingering scent of moss catching her senses as she considered the situation before her and what she did know. Drugs. Smuggling. Unknown. Bust them. Her brow creased as Ricky gave a confirmation she expected on the vial - it contained a contaminant, probably the drug that they found on the man to begin with. She chewed upon her lip, her gaze looking down to the alleyway and the prints, the fingers now being wiped upon her sleeve as she at last gave a nod to herself. More, she needed more. But what exactly? Ricky for the most part had condemned himself to silence it seemed, why the sudden change in behaviour from before? No, now was not the time to dally on such thoughts - not while there was indeed something this important on the line. With a sigh she turned the information once more and begun her dissecting it.

"So, these prints are in the general direction the docks would be?" she asked, nodding in the general direction. There was something slowing down in his words, something that felt as if he was trying to hold her back. What was it though? Why did that feeling cling to her? They had a general idea of the area, so would it not be better to stake the place out instead of wasting time in such a manner, "And the docks have storage facilities I am guessing? And perhaps the dirt is from the docks itself - or he's a worker." She gave a frown then, "If he was with friends he would be using his fix with them. No fun buying something as a group to just go the separate ways. Shows a lonely life."

"Besides,"
Fallon continued taking a step down the alleyway, her neck craning upwards for a better view into the gloom, "We know where he went after he got this. He took his fix. He collapse in this alleyway, and then you took him to the doctor. If he was slumped here in the open..." She pursed her lips, "Says to me he was either taking it on the move or was taking it outside. Fact he dropped the vial too suggests he was on the move and was simply experiencing while travelling. People, strange creatures they are."

With a frown she moved, the hum pulling out from her throat. What were their options? They had a loose path to follow in the form of footprints, and a general area of study. So why hold back on diving in? Of course there was the risk that they could become too consumed in looking at one thing in particular. The counter was they were spending too much time looking for the exact answer, they needed action, to eradicate doubt - but doing so could place a notice on their target, causing them to flee before they even had a chance to discover the operation. They needed to practice stealth and speed, to gather information on the situation and work upon it. She took another step, her head nodding forwards in the direction of the prints, "Come on. The prints lead this way."

It was her hand however that continued to trace upon the wall. Fingertips felt the bumps and lumps, the slower steps as she occasionally took a knee to inspect the prints and trace them with her forefinger. She had to keep following and make sure they did not get muddled up with others. The Lykata gave a prickle, the mind stumbling into a brief lull as she traced out a single print with her finger tip. She shook it off - now was not the time. It was at the end of the alleyway she paused, looking down both ways of the small side street that greeted then. The low glow from behind the shutters graced them with some light. Head turning left she lowered, squinting at she tried to pick out the prints once more. A long pause, before she gave a step after them and continued to lead them onwards. It was her voice that was muttering, "White doors and hidden stores, trying to beat the rush for more. Think, think."

Spirit In the Night

For whatever reason his suspicions seemed all the more likely yet he couldn't discern whether it had been intuition, or his dumb luck had decided to randomly show a stroke on the eve of night. Either way things could go better if they were to move at a faster pace, so they were better off to attempt to get to the heart of the matter rather than poke around, even when he suggested that doing so would've been better off. The source of the problem had to be uprooted out before it could fester any more, likely do more damage than it had already done before the night was over. So while his silence had been focused what kind of move to make, Fallon appeared to be interested in the tracks from before. For the most part he nodded to confirm her first question, as they did appear to come from a direction in line from the docks. The second part he took a moment to consider the thoughts while Fallon spoke, her insight already proven a valuable boon to carry in mind.

"Aye. Storage units 're all 'round de docks, some wit'in a district full o' warehouses. However some warehouses here in East Street probably dun go t'rough regular inventory check like de rest." He added as he started to follow along in a patient manner, he started to wonder if she might have decided to investigate where the tracks lead already. When she reasoned the extent of his use and how he came to be discovered, Ricky found himself quite in an agreement with how the theory sounded. If anything the fact the vial proved an indication, yet why would he be wanting to travel and at the same time fall under the influence? Generally though who took a drug did so in an effort to relax or something of that nature, to do so on while he was on the move posed a rather bold if not stupid risk. It made Ricky wonder if he were still with his friends beforehand and just turned off on his own, or if he only did it because he were in a rush and didn't plan ahead.

"Aye!" He agreed to her notion with further investigating the prints, believe it or not he felt ready to get to the bottom of this now that he'd came this far. He needed to remember to personally thank Fallon for helping him with this, once their little poking around would bear fruit and put the criminals in the Wave Guard's grasp. He didn't urge her along as she appeared more or less engaged with the prints themselves, the workings of her own Gift still a mystery left to be interpreted by the fisherman as they walked their steps. Shortly afterwards some words were mumbled as she continued, a sort of cryptic vibe felt as Ricky tried to put his own intellect to use. White doors and hidden stores? Does d'at mean?... His own thoughts returned to the one warehouse he suspected earlier, the rolling knot in his gut telling him that it had to be involved somehow. Instinct was never a good thing he liked to trust, but in this case he couldn't say it was bad to do so either. If there were truly something else going on there, something he hadn't been aware of for a while, then now definitely should be the time to expose what exactly.

Still... it's only been somewhat over a year, would anybody really go 'bout settin' up another operation their? His spine shuddered a chill as he remembered the first time he'd investigated that warehouse, something that had only been caused by the mere presence of a ghost no less. That investigation led to the discovery of a smuggling operation, children being shipped out of the city to be sold into slavery. This time? There was no telling what could be waiting there, and while he doubted anybody would make the same mistake twice, he definitely suspected something under the table was at work. "Fallon, if we go where Oi t'ink we'll be goin' d'en what d' ya suggest is de best way t' put a stop tis? Last time Oi was involved in an investigation like d'is, Oi barely escaped wit' me life an' lost a close companion o' mine. Oi'd rather make sure d'at doesn't happen again."

In a way he probably sounded like he'd been beating around the bush, now that he mentioned that he had an idea where this might lead. He had to make sure though before anything else, that they were fully prepared to stop this and not have to worry about any repercussions. "Oi t'ink Oi know o' a warehouse worth investigatin'. Trouble is, we'll 'ave t' poke around t' find a way inside, without gettin' caught in de process so we can bust de ones responsible." He offered for himself to take the lead if that were to be necessary, unsure if the investigator herself might've picked up on anything already. Sure enough if she did wish for him to guide her to this suspicious location then he would do so, but if she decided that they had another avenue to explore then he actually agreed that would be better before the plunge. It was after all better to be safe than sorry, seeing as how he was only jumping to a conclusion.

Spirit In the Night

Tracking in the low light had proven to be a hard task, but at the right angle with the correct beam of light and her fingers tracing gently over the floor to pick out the edges she continued - piecing together a path and direction in which to go. There was a long pause as she circled one spot, determining on which direction would be best to go at the junction of alleyways before pushing onwards once more.

"Where you think we're going?" she questioned as the finger scratched at the floor once more, her brow creasing as she repeated the confirmation of words within her head. The Docks was this way, the potential answer and lead was in that direction. Beyond that she was then just left to the words of the local - picking up hints and piecing together idea. With a blink she stood tall, gaze staring down the next perceived route in which to travel and trying to mentally work back the route she came just in case. With a hum she considered the next move, mind slipping away from that of an investigator and instead into tactics based off her previous experiences. If this was Sunberth she would have simply entered and invoked the wrath of her obtained namesake. But this was Zeltiva, tact had to be applied for such things.

Then again, it also sounded like Ricky -while potentially understandable - had a slither of cowardice in him. It was slowly then that she spoke, "If you do not want to lose, then why gamble? Apart from name I am nothing but a stranger to you, no? And a good man of the city would simply totter off, alert and let those with authority handle it - it is their rule to give out justice." Moving she gave a the gaze forward, "Call it choices and consequences of actions. Always the potential for it to go horribly wrong." Fallon focused now on what was at hand, the mind stringing together thoughts, "Whatever the case, it'd probably be best to try and block any of the entrances in where possible. Give them only one way out and allows bottle necking. Other option is just walk straight in there and pretend to be a customer itching for a fix, allows the scouting out of it and a potential instep without giving too much away on intentions."

A feeling had been resting over her for some time now - stalling. Or more, the act of causing her to be caught up in a situation and lured away. Something she would not be able to simply step away from no matter how much she tried. Were they coming for her already? Was this merely a big set up and this Ricky was little more than a pawn in the plan? Her knuckles gave a reassuring tap against the kukri sheath, her gaze swivelling forward to what was before her. She would indeed let him lead the way, and with a sweep of the hand gesturing him to do so she took up the rear, "Getting in and checking through. I have means in which to achieve that though..." She looked upon his back then, eyes narrowing down, "It is something I would have to do alone."

Place down the bait, see if he would register anything or give the subtle hint of any traps. Fallon placed her left hand within her pocket, letting the attached limb relax and hang. The rest of her focused on what little she did know with the screaming of suspicion in her mind, "So smuggling to the warehouses is common in the East Street area due to the poor inventory checks? You're very well informed, aren't you now?"
