Name: Gira of the Broken Spear Clan
Race: Myrian
DoB: Winter 23rd of 483 A.V.
PoB: Taloba
Title: Big Sister
Skills: Weapon: Tiger Hook Sword- 55
Unarmed Combat - 51
Intimidation - 53
Agility - 36
Gnosis: Prowess L2
Additional Info: Gira was born in Taloba thirty six years ago. She grew up like most Myrians did; she has a deep love for her people and most of all for her goddess Myri. It was not long after getting marked by her patron goddess and earning her tiger; that the woman settled down with a mate and had her own child. As the child got older, she began to put the same pressure on her. The mother was ecstatic when Zukai made it through her training and passed her test to join the army. With the child still being too young she took her and left the city.

It took several seasons to make it to Sunberth. But after just a short time, Gira had joined the Daggerhand gang. Expecting her daughter to do the same, she began dragging her to training sessions. After some time Zukai got into a heated argument with her mother and left. It was not a day later that Gira saw her daughter again with the Sun's Birth branded on her hand. With a glare, the woman got her tattoo put on the opposite hand knowing sooner or later the pair would face off on the battlefield.

City NPC - Tent City Resident - Herbalist

Image
Name Jala
Alias The Cutwife
Race Human, Mixed (½ Benshira)
DoB 54 Fall 472
PoB Sunberth
Title Tent City Resident and Herbalist
Skills Botany (55), Brawling (30), Cooking (35), Foraging (40), Herbalism (70), Malediction (35), Medicine (55), Scavenging (35), Teaching (45)
Languages Common (Fluent), Nader-Canoch (Basic)

Jala is the sort of woman whose reputation precedes her and she is scorned because of it. Steely, distant, and prone to keeping to her 'tent', she seems happy enough that most do their best to avoid her. And yet she has never turned a single soul away that has needed her and is generous and charitable with her craft.

Found on the edges of the Sanctela, her section is easily identified by the bunches of dried herbs and bone talisman that decorate its entrance. She is an enigma to most outside the Sanctela - something she has worked hard to maintain - and few denizens trust her. Rumours of the activities that occur within her tent are as varied as the people that call the Tent City their home but few are kind. She is a monster. A killer. She bathes in blood and dabbles in dark magics.

In reality, Jala is a simple herbalist and healer. Her poor reputation stems from her broad knowledge of abortifacients and the procedures needed to end pregnancy leading to her being known colloquially as The Cutwife. Some even say she makes talismans from the bones of dead infants. Although untrue, Jala does not try to dispute these audacious claims and uses this fear as a ward of protection.

Her extensive knowledge of herbs, medicine and midwifery comes from growing up in a brothel, learning from the ugly side of the profession. Her mother had known the craft prior to finding herself a prostitute within the city and she raised her bastard to be her aide. Jala's own life as a prostitute was short-lived but her loyalty to the women she worked with remains. Although she now finds herself most often within the dizzying maze of the Tent City, it is not unheard of for her to make outcalls to the various brothels within the city proper.

She is surprisingly forthcoming with her knowledge if one has the courage to ask and - rather ironically - she has a terrible soft spot for children, especially street urchins, orphans and the many unwanted youths that roam the city.

Name: Olav 'the Gatekeeper' Errickson
Gender: Male
Race: Human
PoB: Sunberth
Title: Prize fighter and trainer at Tall Johhny's
Birth Date: Fall 10th, 463 A.V.
Skills: 63 Unarmed, 59 Boxing, 54 Weapon: Heavy Mace , 50 Endurance, 32 Weapon: Dagger, 30 Bodybuilding, 28 Brawling, 25 Teaching, 30 Intimidation, 20 Medicine

A long time employee of Tall Johnny's, the six-feet one-inch tall Olav was one of the entrepreneurs first fighters back in the day and one with the dubious honor of being one of the few of his generation of prize fighters still alive and for not an insignificant amount of time a long time holder of the title Champion of Sunberth. In his hayday the fighter was known for his anger, casual use of curse words, and his love of the opposite sex.

While his anger has abated along with his prime, the aging fighter still retains the habit of tossing out insults and his love for women. He had also taken up a new role within Tall Johnny's establishment as a sort of 'den mother' to the younger prize fighters under Tall Johnny's employ, giving them advice, taking care of their wounds, and making sure they don't embarrass Tall Johnny by being piss poor drunk or drugged up... unless it makes the fight more interesting that is.

On occasion the fighter will take to the Caged Pits himself and show people exactly why he'd been called the 'Gatekeeper'.

Name: Pajalkich (Pa-hal-kich) the Quiet, AKA Kich
Gender: Male
Race: Mixed Blood (Human + Chaktawe)
PoB: The Wildlands
Title: The Wilderlord
Birth Date: Winter 84, 459 A.V. (59 years old)
Skills: Wilderness Survival 78, Weapon: Shortbow 63, Weapon: Short sword 55, Stealth 49, Acrobatics 43, Teaching 37, Tracking 33, Trapping 33, Detection 26, Weapon: Dagger 24
Gnosis: None

Though many consider it foolish to venture into the wildlands by themselves there are a few that treat it as a typical day. Pajalkich is thought of as a "go-to" person by many of Sunberth's tradesmen for goods that can only be acquired by a skilled hunter. Where others have sought dangerous prey and fallen, Pajalkich isn't known for failing a job. His mother was Chaktawe and he inherited the dark skin and eyes. A gruff man in his later years, who has attempted to train many aspiring hunters.

Often found rotating his patronage to the taverns of the city, The Wilderlord is known for being a man to avoid. Anyone that even attempts to bother him get the same warning, "I kill creature's that'd eat you for breakfast." When he's not on a job in the wildernesss he can be found in any of the taverns, or one of the brothels.

Pending ST Approval - City NPC - One of Goldfinger's Assistants

NPCs
Image
Name: Sastiva
Race: Human
DoB: 496(22) AV
PoB: Sunberth
Title: Goldfinger's Assistant
Skills: Accounting (82), Business Logistics (69), Mathematics (64), Unarmed Combat (60), Marketing (50), Planning (48), Negotiations (45), Leadership (30)
Gnosis: None

While Sastiva is considered one of Goldfinger's many assistants, she bears a striking resemblance to the man himself. Because of her age and the fact that she looks a lot like Goldfinger, Sastiva is suspected of being his younger sibling by many in the Sunberth Community. While having never openly admitted or acknowledged the relation, one can tell she is close to the local loan shark in Sunberth.

Sastiva's duties include keeping a 'stable' of clients for Goldfinger. That means helping those he has decided to loan money to found their businesses. This might mean acquiring suppliers, buildings, even helping new folks keep books for the first season of their endeavors. She will do check-ups on them and act as a loan enforcement officer if need be. That is mostly unnecessary though since Sastiva's babysitting duties usually render new clients successful.

Chateau Golnoir

An abandoned mansion in Sunberth with a stained history.

Image

There lays a single mansion within the Gated Community (C11) that remains abandoned. The history of the Chateau has been lost to the bitter memory of recent horrors. Once a jewel that was contested by those seeking control of the city, the ancient architecture has allowed the Chateau to remain standing. It was the very symbol of wealth at 80,000sq ft., providing more space than any resident could fill throughout the ages. Until the wizard, Obal Causten, and his cult of apprentices seized control. As the seat of power during the Cult’s regime, the Chateau’s majesty diminished in the public eye. After Ordeck SIlverbeard slew the dark wizard many rose to claim the riches that had been stolen way into the mansion’s hold.

Each claim ended in tragedy. Those that set foot inside are rarely seen again. Citizens of the city claimed one of the Cult apprentices had cursed the mansion before death. Others believe that Obal had lain many traps to discourage thieves during his reign. Shrouded in resentment and death Sunberth began to ignore the Chateau and the rumors of lost wealth. Now it lies overgrown over the nameless river. Beckoning to any adventurer willing to risk it all for fortune.

The three story chateau, with a basement and one four story tower, had been converted to support many different forms of magical practices and research. No design plans or maps of the interior exist due to the Cult's secretive nature. Since half a century had passed since a soul walked the halls there are no accurate accounts of what lay inside. Outside the broken fence are many drop points used by both the Daggerhands and the Night Eyes, or anyone else in need of a secluded place for randezvous.

* Entry into the Chateau will require Moderator permission as part of a Quest.

In the center of The Sunset Quarter (K6) lies a fountain that has long fallen into disuse. No spray fills the sky from its stone pool, though water aplenty fills its depths. Ten feet in diameter, the stone pool rises two feet above the ground level and contains hundreds of gallons of the most unusual water in Sunberth. There is a fountainhead, one shaped like a flower, but it has long fallen to stain and ruin. The fountain itself has a thick ledge that makes a perfect seat all the way around its diameter. The depth is hard to gauge because one cannot see the bottom nor does one see anything hit the bottom if something is tossed in or prodded into the water.

And though some say it is an evil magical thing left over from the reign of mages in Sunberth, others claim it has no sinister properties other than harboring mosquito larvae in the summer. Despite its disrepair, the water in Yedra's Fountain remains clear and drinkable year round. It also has a tendency not to freeze even in the harshest winters, which is an odd property for it to have.

Items tossed into the fountain disappear from sight almost immediately and many have claimed to see an unusual shimmer as things drop down out of sight into its depths. There is a story associated with the Fountain that often gives a little validity to this claim. The story also lends the fountain its name.

Yedra was supposedly a daughter of Aquiras. No one knows who gave birth to her, whether it was Priskil herself or another nameless woman. Yedra lived in Sunberth - or what passed for Sunberth when it was something different and the world wasn't in ruin - separate and lonely from her father. She would often linger around doorways, gateways, and thresholds, speaking to him as if he could actually hear her. No one knows why the girl was in exile from his presence, though there were many guesses. Ill-fated love. Rebellion. Disrespect. A wasted youth. The list of speculation was long and the stories never-ending. And despite the reality, Yedra never stopped loving and longing for her father's presence.

That longing caused her to weep and those tears she shed were magical because of her Alvina blood. According to the story her tears filled a depression in the ground of Yedra's back yard. Yedra cried so much she passed into the next life, a victim of loss and loneliness as she never found happiness in Sunberth no matter how she tried.

Sometimes deep in the night, people at the fountain claim they hear a woman's weeping.

Old walls can be found if the ground is excavated by people in the know around the well far enough out that indicates there was once some sort of foundation or fence line present in the past. People wondered at the water and called it a gate to other places. Nothing tossed in ever was fished out again, including people... especially bodies. And the water proved so useful that eventually a fountain was crafted around its pool and raised above ground so people could more easily visit.

No one is ever affected adversely by drinking it. It is said to taste sweet and salty all at the same time, but it never causes the illness drinking true sea water would. Instead, sometimes when people stare into its depths they see glimpses of other places and other worlds as if it is indeed a true gateway to the beyond.

As for Sunberth's underworld denizens, they often use it as a place to get rid of the bodies. And occasionally, someone tossed in the water will not make it out again, especially if they get completely submerged. They just tend to sink like rocks and vanish from sight in a flash of shimmery light.

This fact alone has earned it the nickname 'The Drowning Fountain".

* Anyone falling into the fountain must make a 1d100 dice roll in chat and add in their modifier for swimming/acrobatics/or some other related appropriate skill. Anyone rolling a 35 or below will end up somewhere else in the world of Mizahar. Anyone rolling a 1 will drown.

On the eastern edge of The Sunset Quarter (K9) lies an all but abandoned city square that was once a very prominent park. Now, however, this rather large square has been almost thoroughly taken over by a singular tree. Known as the Hanging Oak, this live oak dominates the area creating private spaces that are often gathering points or hangouts for locals looking for a little peaceful nature in an otherwise dreary city.

Day use is common for picnics and little barbecues. Stone fire rings and fire pits are scattered in and among the sprawling spaces the branches make great areas to cook in. After dark, the homeless and runaways of the city can sometimes be found around these rings trying to keep warm. Peaceful during the day for the most part, Execution Square is one of the rare beautiful spots in the city for Sunberthians to enjoy.

Execution Square also turns into an artisan area during the clear warm days of summer where craftspeople set up tables and sell knickknacks and artsy things to the citizens of Sunberth. Jewelry, thrown pottery, artisan clothing and weapons, as well as homemade foodstuff are commonly found here.

The tree is not without its own denizens as well. Large squirrels, the size of house cats, scramble around its branches and make homes in the hollows within its old wood. They are very good thieves, especially when it comes to picnic foodstuffs. Skull crows can often be seen perched in its branches. At night, the hooting of what sounds an awful lot like a giant owl can be heard among its branches. The owl hunts the large dog-sized rats that roam the square at night. Rumor has it that because the mysterious owl is so reclusive - heard but not seen - that people who do actually see it often end up falling victim to Execution Square's after dark violent setting.

And finally, though people try to ignore the fact for the most part, Execution Square is still often in use. Gangs will utilize the space for lynchings, duels, and all kinds of judgements being passed among their own members and indeed rival members who have been caught acting out against opposing forces.

It is not uncommon for Sunberth's early mornings to include fresh bodies swinging from the oak. If the corpses are not cut down rapidly, they will often begin to bloat and smell, making the park uninhabitable until the animals infesting the park make short work of the corpse or some helpful (or greedy) person cuts the corpse down and disposes of it (usually in one of the abandoned buildings of the Quay).

Muggings, rapes, and kidnappings are also common within Execution Square after dark. During the day, however, it is a relatively calm and peaceful place to enjoy as a recreational area so long as bodies (and the smells associated with their decay) aren't present.

* PC lynchings need to be ran via moderator approval.

Name: Ashara
Race: Svefra
DoB: 483 AV (35)
Title: Daggerhand Big Sister, AKA The Viper
Skills: Weapon: Dagger 71, Subterfuge 68, Unarmed Combat: Brawling 63, Intimidation 49, Leatherworking 47, Acrobatics 44, Stealth 44, Intelligence 41, Investigation 40, Larceny 39, Body Building 37, Flirtation 35, Rhetoric 32
Gnosis: Oceanus Curse II
Height: 5’ 10’’
Eye color: Svefra Blue
Hair Color: Black with Red Highlights
Weight: 160 lbs

Ashara is one of the “older” Lieutenants of the Daggerhands, known as a Big Sister. Joining the gang at a younger age, when the gang was still relatively new, she managed to impress her superiors with her fierceness and cunning. Receiving her promotion before the fall of Dalagnar, Ashara made herself known for her ability to discover important information. There had been speculation from her peers, as well as her superiors, that she had foreknowledge on the attack that claimed Dalagnar’s life. No one was ever able to confirm that, though many died trying.

Despite the reservations from key members of the gang, Ashara has managed to prove herself invaluable. While not in charge of any particular function she’s the one they rely on when certain questions need answers. Often Ashara can be seen roaming the streets with a few lackeys. Though, if it can be avoided, she stays away from the coastline.

What her peers, and perhaps even her superiors, don’t realize is that Ashara has the means to undermine the entire gang. No one is ever sure if her actions are for the Daggerhands or for herself. Ashara is invested in many clandestine functions of the city. She is a woman that constantly tells less than what she knows. The people that cross her path often regret doing so. As an expert of the dagger and brawling she often will perform necessary wet-work herself, rather than leave it to an underling, depending on the importance of the individual.

Those under her command behave out of fear rather than loyalty. Behind her back they call her the Viper, for when she gets her teeth into a person they die a slow and painful death. Yet she usually speaks with charm and allure. Treating everyone as a friend, until they need to be notified of her displeasure. Some of the brothers and sisters think she came from Bragga’s House from the way she moves with such allure. Among the ranks her sexual exploits are well known, as well as the fact that all former lovers are dead.

  • @Meriann for Hiver, Goddri, & Julian.

They are all good to go.

  • @Kynier for Ashara, Pajalkich , and Chateau Golnoir.
Give Ashara 2 expert combat skill, and one more expert skill of your choice, everything else can be competent  . Once that is done she'll be good to go. Pajalkich is all good to go  .

I'm taking The Chateau under consideration at the moment, I need to think about it. I like the location, but may need to edit it.

  • @ Kelski for Execution Square & Yedra's Fountain. Goldfinger's Assistants & Fortune Teller.

I love them, they are approved. I'll add them as locations and to the linkmap shortly. The assistant and old Fortune teller have also been approved as City NPC.

  • @K'irr Darkwater for Aerin & Jala.
They are approved as a City NPC.

  • @Berkley Whispers for The Well & Shifty Shamus.
Interestingly enough, I half approve this. Mainly because of the Yedra's Fountain location that was just made. I am going to edit Shifty Shamus into being an NPC for the fountain, so the NPC is approved.

  • @ Kreig Messer for Olav.
    Approved.

  • @Zukai for Gira.
    Approved.

To all those who made an NPC:
City NPCs are not your PERSONAL NPC.

City NPC's can be used by everyone in their threads.

Personal NPCs need to be approved through the help desk and then be added to your SS threads.
