Greetings Syliras!

I am happy to announce the additon of a new location!

The Inked Pen

This location has been created with very little input from myself by our own Lorden Ladis. He did a very good job putting this location together and I am more then happy to add it in.

For those of you who are thinking of writing up locations I have some tips for you.

  1. Make sure your location fits within the theme of the city
  2. Remember that many buisnesses or locations are more suited to be owned by players then as a location. When in doubt, PM your local storyteller.
  3. Make your location useful, something that the city might need. A goal is to make your location attractive enough that other players will want to use it. This means keeping track of needs and uses of other locations that might overlap.
  4. Use your location as a means to enchance the theme of the city or flavor of a particular sublocation. This could include providing a history of usage by the local factions or races. This tip is only limited by your creativity.
  5. If you have any questions, ask. It is better to ask for clarification, permission or thoughts of one of the storytellers than find out that what you've written up is not something that can work in your city.

Have fun getting inked up!

I shared this on another thread and Nivel suggested that I put it here for all the Knight and Squire PCs. Sadly the video is French so I don't know what the text says but the demonstrations are still pretty useful.

And on a related note this picture shows this thing called half swording; the unarmoured guy is using the sword to bash the knight while the knight is gripping the sword by its blade so there is more power behind his thrust. Rather self explanatory really.

Thanks for the shout-out Nighty, and for the extra info, as well. I know a couple of other players were/are thinking of doing some write-ups, so that should really help them, as well as me. *Hugs the ST*

On a Side Note:
I love that vid Roddy. However, as a note to everyone, one may be able to move easily enough in armor, yet, at the same time, it is very tiring. Just to put that statement into context, I'll tell you that caloric expenditure is nearly doubled, when a warrior is fighting in plate-mail, when opposed to normal clothing. Just thought I'd throw that out there, to add a bit more of a wider picture. Everything said, though, one still has to realize that plate wasn't that limiting; if it had been, no one would have used it.

I forgot to mention that part - thanks for bringing it up Lorden :)

Yeah, basically its not quite as uncomfortable to wear as mail armour, since the weight is distributed across you body evenly rather than hanging loosely off of you. Still you'd get very fatigued and overheated if you wore it for any length of time during battle - the Battle of Agincourt is probably the most famous example of that.

Rod, I love you for knowing what Agincourt was. That, well, that was something of a battle. I can only imagine the sight of hundreds of armored men, charging through a hail of longbow fire, as if it was only a heavy rain. Of course, then you have the men suffocating in their armor, but meh. xD
