The very first day of Fall, Mathias discovered a mysterious swirling orb in The Stairstep Falls while he was hiking up it. Taking it back to the Settlement, he decided to study it. Akvin, visiting, took one look at it and began to laugh. Then he reached out and tapped a series of sequences across the surface of the ball, and it began to glow. Lit from within and swirling with power, the orb pulsed in a huge surge of power that flowed across the Settlement, touching everyone in and around Syka.
They immediately changed races.
Mathias was startled to discover himself as a Dhani. Akvin laughed harder and clapped the eldest Founder on the back with a sympathetic "Aw, don't worry about it my friend... it will only last a season.... if we're lucky." Of course, Akvin's race didn't change. He was still a God.
The 24 inch diameter glass globe immediately darkened and did nothing further, seeming to go inert after Akvin's touch. The God frowned, shook his head, and shrugged. "They don't build these things like they used too. This one looks all burned out. Sometimes you can use them a second time to change things back. This one looks damaged or like it wasn't fully charged to begin with." He added.
Mathias, still dumbstruck, simply stared at Akvin. Then, once the shock started to wear off, he began to roam around in his new Dhani form - a huge Blue-Banded Sea Krait - reassuring the Settlement the happening was an accident and the results were just temporary.

Syka will enjoy a mild fall. While the Settlement didn't have an overly hot summer, the temperatures were moderate and fluctuated very little. This Fall, Syka will have a season of predictable rain storms moving through. Once in the morning and once at night, heavy rainfall for about a bell will fall, blanketing the Settlement and bringing the humidity up. Temperatures will be in the higher 70's and upwards of the higher 80's. There will be no days past 90 degrees F nor will the nights significantly cool off. The nights will offer very little relief from the humidity. Water is plentiful and the Syka River will be traverseable by shallow bottom boats well into the jungle... with its miniature falls disappearing due to the sheer volume of water coming off The Maw.
The whole of the Settlement will hope for relief in Winter.
❖ The midnight tides grow luminous, glowing as they wash in on the white beaches of Syka. The effect is breathtaking. (On-again-off-again all Season)
❖ A giant anaconda of well over 60 feet threatens the Settlement. It takes a group to bring it down. It is discovered to be partially mechanical inside, as if it were crafted not born. (45th)
❖ The Syka River floods and threatens the Settlement. (45th)
❖ Wild Djed pools along the edges of the Settlement, altering crops. This time there are witnesses who swear the fog of Wild Djed moved like it was controlled or sentient. (62nd)
❖ The new edible fruit tree which looks like a small tree which grows pineapple-looking fruit that tastes like a spiced pear has been named Sunset Fruit after its beautiful inner purple to orange color. This wild djed created fruit begins to fall from its trees in mass and creates the most unusual heady scent. It can be collected for distillation by perfumers. A huge demand for it is generated in Riverfall. (70th onward)
❖ A unusual tree is discovered growing near the tar pits. It's inner liquid can be spicketed like maple trees and seems to provide amazing waterpoofing properties if boiled down to a thick paste. (Entire Season)
❖ The World Gate opens and stays open for almost a BELL on the last day of Fall.
❖ Change your race.

❖ Track down Akvin and talk to him about the race change. (Moderated Thread).
❖ Play a game with another player one-on-one or in a group.
❖ Discover a new species of plant that benefits the Settlement.

❖ Write at least 15,000 words and keep track of them in your singular post below and I will give you opportunities to pick quest items from the weekly challenges that have been issued in the past year. The more you write the bigger the selection I'll give you. If you write up to 25,000 or more... I will give you a choice of ANY of the past quest items.
I'm always willing to run personal story line focuses for anyone who joins Syka for the season. People get such few opportunities to interact with their actual story lines in generic calendar situations within various domains, so in Syka I'd like to change that. I will be willing to run the following:

- Flashbacks & Future Foretellings
- Training Threads
