Built high in the massive branches of Taldera's bloodwood forest, The Spires is a city crafted by the peaceful and scholarly Jamoura. Considered a haven for scholars and sages Mizahar-wide, The Spires is a mecca of philosophy and science that draws people from far and wide with its promise of deeper thinking and higher reasoning.

❖ Introduction

Welcome to The Spires! I am hoping that by making this guide, which is modeled after Gossamer's in Riverfall, that answers to many questions that players new and old may ask. I will be working very closely with The Spires Wiki page, but if there is a disparity, this page should be considered correct. Due to the recent Djed Storm of 512, The Spires has changed significantly, so expect the wiki to change about it as well.

Here you will find information about the city itself, as well as the Spirians as a whole. The Jamoura and other Spirians are quite complicated, being such a long lived race devoted to many gods, but Caiyha above all. They do not live within the forest, they live with it.

Because of the longevity of the Jamoura, as well as the need to keep their city as close to nature as possible, has caused the to be built beautifully, with an abundance of life in every aspect. The city has no ghetto, no crime riddled area, the Hahk'Shatara dealing with all criminals swiftly and harshly. As well as maintaining its dedication to Caiyha, the citizens also maintain a pursuit of knowledge both mundane and divine. All citizens are expected to benefit the city in some way or another, either through hard work or mental pursuit. Training and apprenticing is quite common within The Spires, and those that are sloth, will be forced into training, or cast from the city.

❖ What The City Looks Like

An outsider can never see the city without having first entered it. If you are directly beneath it, you will only see leaves and branches, carefully grown so as to hide all traces of the city. If you were flying through the forest, you might be able to stumble upon the city, though many a flying Kelvic, Zith, and Akvatari have flown right by without noticing anything.

Once in the city, there is an extreme abundance of life. The city is nestled upon massive wooden platforms, called Petals, supported by the branches of the largest trees in the forest. There are vines, plants, flowers, and animals everywhere. There is no space left untouched by Caiyha's bounty. At the center of the city is the jewel of the forest, the Temple to Caiyha. The Temple is filled with plants and animals not found anywhere else, all beautiful and unique. The Temple is supported by the six most massive trees in the forest, and can be seen from every Petal.

The main portion of the city is three tiers. At the center, and the lowest of the tiers, is the Temple. Ringing around the Temple, and a bit above and away from it as well, are the six Inner Petals. Above, and a bit away from each Inner Petal is two Outer Petals, for a total of twelve in all. Down below at ground level is the Foliage, the most dangerous of the areas. Underground there is the Undercavern, where the mighty Shaiki River flows. This is not some seedy criminal filled area, it is patrolled by the Hahk'Shatara quite often for the river supports the trees of the forest, and the cavern provides access to the roots of the trees, which are highly protected.

Travel between the Petals is found in the way of vine and wooden bridges between Petals of the same height, and ladders and stairs between those of differing heights. There is no direct access to the temple, but several Slugsuckle vines have been grown that would allow people to swing in and out. There are safety nets beneath every portion of the city, to catch anyone clumsy enough to fall. There, they will be rescued by a member of the Hahk'Shatara and set about back on a solid surface. There are many hidden ladders and stairways that lead from the Outer Petals to the Foliage below. There are a few hidden cave entrances and root bundles that lead from the Foliage down into the Undercavern.

One will very, very rarely find anything in The Spires made of glass, stone, or any form of metal. There is no form of manufacturing, smithing, or high yield agriculture found within the city. While one may not hear the sound of a smithy's hammer ringing, they will hear calls of animals, songs of birds, and Jamoura singing praises to their many gods.
