New Feature Thread tags!

(This is a thread from Mizahar's fantasy role play forums. Why don't you register today? This message is not shown when you are logged in. Come roleplay with us, it's fun!)

IC News travels slowly in Mizahar. Fortunately there is a constant stream of news from around campfires, from caravan to caravan and from merchants to merchants. Within this forum lies the best of the best of this talk. Also, within this forum, OOC news from the staff and players can be found. This forum requires all posts to be 'approved' by a Founder before they are displayed. So if you post within, be patient. Your post did display - it simply will not show to everyone until approved as actual 'news'. Please keep all Introductions, Status Updates, and various other discussions in their appropriate forums and leave this area for game news!

Thread tags!

Hello Mizaharians,

over the past week I've been introducing thread tags into the site - first in the Character Sheets forum to help our formidable Liaisons keep track of what they've been reviewing, then in the Help Desk to allow you guys to direct your queries to a specific Founder, and now in the IC forums.

You now have the option to categorize a thread when you post it. As of now, players get: Open, PM to join, Closed, Solo, Flashback, Completed, Placeholder and Location. Mods also get Quest, IC Info and OOC Info (let me know if more are needed). While you're not forced to use tags if you don't wish to, you are encouraged to do so. In addition to standing out graphically, you can now perform advanced searches and filter the boards by tag. You can see the "By tag" menu below the thread listing in forum view.

There are subtler advantages too. For example, we can now have a page listing all open threads for people to join. I can put a link somewhere on the site for all the people looking for open threads. And, whenever you categorize a thread, you help me code "smart" functionality for the site. It'll be easy to turn all the open threads into closed when the season changes. :)

One drawback is that we can only have one tag per thread. If there are popular combinations people would like to see, I can add them in as an entirely new tag. And of course, feedback is always appeciated.

I love you Tarot. Well more like I love your mind and the new site add on but that is beside the point.

Thanks for the new toy on the site!

I would humbly suggest categorizing the tags instead, so you can pick one tag from each category:

Type Tags: RP, Location
Time Tags: Flashback, Present (aka normal), Placeholder, Grandfathered
Participation Tags: Open, Closed, Invitation Only (aka PM to Join?), Solo

Additionally, mods get the following:
Participation Tags: Quest, some other stuff?

I figured this might add better search functionality :)

Any activity with Eri will be rather slow as well, but I am slowly readjusting back to "Mizahar life", so to speak, so do PM me if we have a thread that I left hanging and we'll talk.

These look so cool. Haha I kinda just want to start a new thread to see what this is all about :) It will happen soon enough!

Thank you for the awesome feature.

This was a standard add-on, Eri, and it took me several days to make all the necessary adjustments for the site. Basically, every page had to be tweaked. Adding multiple tags means altering the database in a fundamental way, as well as the interface. Possible, but probably not worth the huge effort required.

Graders Please Note :
As Ball is getting closer and closer to maxing out Pyken as a skill, I would like to request that in places where Ball is not doing enough to constitute Pyken XP if Pyken technique lores could be issued instead.

Examples of proper XP level for Pyken would be: Ball developing or refining his technique by adding new thing against an actual moving target, not a dummy.

The use of basic skills alone are not enough to accomplish XP at Ball's current level of Pyken.

Thank you.

I will be handling all Ball related posts on Mondays @ 1800 my time *

Oh oh oh. I forgot. I'm still toying with the look. I have been dissuaded from color-coding them because of the potential "patchwork effect" on a full board, but I'm interested in hearing opinions on the best look.
