Physical Description

Most of his life he lived as a hard working man at sea, and the effects of it where clear in his appearance. First thing one could tell that he lived his life on the water or atleast out in the sun alot was his skin. With a light brown color to it, the rough dry skin almost looked like leather to the distance and even sort of felt like it to the touch, a inevitible result of spending so much time at sea and out under the open sun.

His hands where dry and cracked and wore the callouses and scars of years of labor. His fingernails where meticulously cut short in a effort to help him better do his chores about the ship such as barnacle scraping or swabbing the deck. Ragnor's Chesnut brown hair even took a lighter hue, as if that was possible, because the constant exposure had bleached some of the color out of it, the hair on his head as coarse as the rest of his body and although he held plenty of thick hair upon his head it tended to hang down in long spindily lengths as if it had run out of strength and was attempting to get some rest.

Body built strong from work, he supported a rather muscular physique, standing always tall, with his shoulders straight. Well muscled all around he struck the imposing and yet mildly average appearance of a regular dockhand, and was by no means the strongest man or even an oddity among sailors. More so ever he rather blended in with the bunch and played the part well.

The cloths that he wears tend to look well tailored to his personality, being of simple yet durable make. He wears a white cotton shirt along with a pair of tan breeches and low-cut boots. Over his shirt he has a leather vest, with little tan pouches hanging from the bottom hem of his vest. His clothing is all bout to withstanding the elements and wear and tear of daily work, and being of simple design and not too expensive.

Character Concept

A simple man, a simple life, Ragnor had rarely wanted for anything while he was among the living because he seldom wanted anything beyond his basic needs. So long as he had food in his belly, something to wash it down with, and the deck of a ship underneath him, he was a happy man. That changed when he met Izurabelle Winterflame, and had three children by her. Now with a family to care for, he worried about keeping them well fed, and getting them what he wanted as well.

Now amongst the dead just off the coast of the Cyphrus, Ragnor is lost, and less certain of himself than he has ever felt before. He is not sure who he should be, what he should do, or even how he can figure that out. For now he restlessly drifts, thinking for the most part of his family.

Character History - Before Creation

Born in the city of Novallas to a sailor and a merchant's daughter, Ragnor came to know a life at sea early on. Whether it was mending nets, scrapping hulls or an assortment of other jobs to be found aboard, he was at it as soon as he could walk, helping his da, and soon as he was old enough, he took a position crewing on a Zeltivan vessel that came to port.

Out on the ocean for the first time, he felt truly at home, and crewing aboard that ship were some of the happiest days of his life. From Novallas to Ahnatep and all the harbors in between, he saw the world. It was the life, and with his needs well provided for by his wages on the ship, he found true contentment on those waters that would last for several years until his path happened to intercept that of his future love, Izurabelle Winterflame. On a snowy day in Novallas, he met her as he sought out a drunken friend, and after some discussion managed to rope her in on the search.

Fortunately, they managed to find him unharmed soon after, and in the time it took to see his friend safely back to the ship, he found himself quiet enamored of the woman. His ship left the next day, but Ragnor remained in Novallas to court her favor, and to follow her to Avanthal with a trading caravan.

Though different than what he was used to, what with holds and such, Ragnor managed to find work were he might still be on the water while being able to keep close to Izurabelle. It wasn't like the sheer freedom he felt on the Zeltivan vessel, but there was a different sort of contentment to be had here, one of love and peace. For many years, time went on like this, and in time he would have three children by Izurabelle, whom he cherished and lavished with gifts. Replacing his simple wants and worries before was now his duty to his family, and his want for the to have the very best. Simply fishing was no longer possessed of the same joy, and to his reckoning didn't provide for his family adequately.

In a gamble, he took out a loan to stock up on goods he could bring to market, and arranged to join a caravan to travel with to Novallas. Determined to bring his family fortune, he charted a ship from there as well, and down the coast sold off his wares, stocking up on more in Zeltiva with his profits. He was no merchant though, and even after procuring the services of one, his profits were too low so on he traveled, down all the way towards Ahnatep, yet he never reached that city for the ship found itself caught in a terrible storm. Ragnor himself was thrown overboard in the tumult, swallowed up by the ocean

Next thing he knew, he was on the shores of the Cyphrus, the sun beaming overhead, and with no sign of the ship, was left with little choice but to continue on through the thick grass. For days, upon days, he walked, queerly never tiring in the physical sense, or thirsting for that matter, but he cared little for his needs for he just wanted to be found, and to see his family again. Yet each day, the sun rose up over the unremarkable grass, and sunk again without he crossing anyone, though he did spot some creatures that shied away from him.

At last though, when he'd resigned himself to the hopelessness of ever wandering these grasses, he stumbled across a river whom's blue waters sparkled in the sunlight, and awash with relief he ran to those waters to sink into their cool shallows. Only the water wasn't cool, or the sun hot for that matter, but all of that hardly registered after seeing his reflection. Where once a man of solid flesh had been, one of a translucent quality remained, and in that sight he realized what had become of him.

He might have passed on right then and there at that awful realization but thoughts of his family ate away at such notions and so listlessly he continued on, following the curves of the river until he caught sight of a magnificent city. There he found a Sanctuary where he could mull over what had happened, as well as well as the peace of quiet enough to decide what to do next.

Character History - After Creation

Upon stumbling across the great city of Riverfall, Ragnor found a place within an establishment named Sanctuary by the beneficence of a Konti named Kavala. In turn for agreeing to serve as guardian for the Sanctuary for the next ten years, he secured payment for his debt and safe passage for his family through the efforts of Kavala and Sama'el, bringing him much peace of mind when they at last arrived in Riverfall.

Such relief..
