Stretching northward along the coastline of the Suvan Sea, the Cobalt Mountains are the home of the Bronze Wood, numerous ruins, and creatures both strange and fantastical.

In the time before the Valterrian in what would eventually become the Cobalt Mountains stood a temple, built to honor the dark god Rhysol. When Ivak raged across the world and the Cobalt Mountains were formed, most of the temple was destroyed, though the central building rose with the mountain and remained mostly intact. However, everyone inside died and the temple itself was lost to the ages. Over five hundred years of disuse slowly weathered away at the structure until it was recognizable as little more than a crumpled ruin, a single building barely standing. The altar within, however, remained unchanged over the centuries and appeared just as it did in the time before Ivak's imprisonment.

When the Ebonstryfe decided to attack the city of Syliras, the location of the temple was revealed to the Chaon and was set up as the central base of operations. Hidden high in the mountains, east of the Lykolav mines, it was an ideal place for the Ebonstryfe to gather and prepare to strike at the knights. Repairs were being made to the temple, and the Ebonstryfe set up camp around the outside. Not long after establishing the base a tunnel was found and it is thought to connect with the mines to the west, though none have explored it thoroughly enough to be certain.

The temple is used primarily for worship, while everything else is handled in the various tents placed outside.

Locations of Interest:

Command Tent - Where Samara and her commanders meet to discuss strategy.
Mess Hall - A large tent where food is served.
Barracks - Two large tents with cots for sleeping.
Samara's Tent - Paladin Samara Alenta's personal quarters.
Infirmary - Large tent where wounded soldiers are brought and treated.
Assignment Hall - Medium sized tent where soldiers and mercenaries come for assignments.
Temple - Ruined temple containing an altar to Rhysol.

Assignments :
Members of the Ebonstryfe, mercenaries working for the Ebonstryfe, or those who have otherwise proven their loyalty to Rhysol may come to the Assignment Hall to be given individual assignments. These assignments can range from anything as simple as planting a chaon cursed object inside the city walls, to burning down an entire farm. When an assignment is completed, the individual may return to camp for a reward and another task.

OOC: To receive an assignment, simply post in the thread at the Assignment Hall and ask to be given a task. A storyteller will respond and give one to you with one. The tasks will be designed to encourage interactivity between Ravokian and Syliran players. Some will be simple, some will be harder. Every task will come with a reward, usually in Mizas, though harder tasks may come with other rewards. Completing multiple assignments will grant access to more difficult tasks, and greater rewards.

Example Assignment (Warning, this one is silly):

Player A asks for a mission. Is given a Chaon imbued beer mug that will cause the next person to drink from it to become belligerently drunk after just one sip. It is Player A's mission to find a random Syliran PC and get them to drink from that mug. Player A completes mission and returns for a small reward and another mission.

The primary purpose is to get Sylirans and Ravokians threading together, whether it is in combat, or silly things like above.

Mod Note: This location is open for play only after the 55th of Fall. Before then, it was just an empty temple.

Mod Note 2: PCs cannot post at this location unless they have somehow learned of it's existence, either by being part of Ravok's army, or through some other means.

Assignment

Fall 55 512 AV Assignment Tent

Gallo felt an itch in his feet, wanting to explore a bit on his own. He remembered the run down that was given by Samara as to the layout of the camp. Ever since he had been curious as to what sort of assignment he'd be given if he stepped up and acted independently for the first time. The previous missions and assignments in the name of Rhysol had all been group successes or disasters. This time however, he wanted to at least be part of a smaller group or solo, so that if the success or failure of the mission was completely on his shoulders. It was quite a step for him, he had always relied on the guidance of his father and the support of others. He felt he had something to prove as he parted the heavy canvas of the tent.

Gallo approached a man who appeared to be in charge of the regulation of agendas, "Hello, my name is Gallo Duplais and would like to be assigned on a task in the name of Rhysol." He kept it short and sweet, unsure of what exactly he wanted. All he knew was he felt ready, for what, he was determined to find out.

The man Gallo approached was named Sven, one of the commanders who attended the assignment hall. Sven was not a member of any notable family, but he was well known among certain circles as a heavy gambler, and a lucky one at that. Beyond that, there wasn't much to say about Sven. He was friendly enough, but like all Ebonstryfe, had a mean streak to him as well. When Gallo asked for an assignment, Sven quickly began rummaging through a pile of papers. After finding out Gallo's name, and looking over his file, he quickly found an assignment for him.

"Our intelligence on the city has been a bit spotty since the djed storm," Sven said as he began to explain the mission. "We need to know how hard Syliras was hit, what was destroyed, and how they have recovered so far. It says here you've got some skill in collecting information."

The man motioned to Gallo's dossier, which listed all of his known talents, as well as common information about him and his known family, jobs he'd had in the past, any trouble he'd gotten into as a child, and whatever else might be considered of use to the Ebonstryfe.

"We need unmarked people, non-Chaon, to go into Syliras posing as travelers and gather intelligence for us. Find out what you can, and then bring that information back to us. If you do well, I might have something a bit more challenging for you."

Mission Details :
Objective: Gather intelligence on damages inflicted by the Djed Storm

Specifics:
Go into Syliras and learn about the damages and/or repairs that were done to the city because of the Djed Storm of 512. You must interact with at least one other PC, and learn about at least one specific structure that was damaged. Learning more will earn a greater reward. You will need to show a link to the thread that the information was gathered in. The thread must be complete, but it need not have been graded yet.

Minimum Reward: 75gm

Fall 55 512 AV Assignment Tent

Kyra moved swiftly through the forest, her movements were slower, tall boots stepping lightly as she made her way across the forest floor. The hood of her cloak was drawn over her head and hid most of her face, though her eyes could see her surroundings well enough. There was a reason of course, why the Ebonstryfe apprentice stalked the wilds. Kyra was hunting...Or rather she was following someone.

War as it had been called by some, wasn't exactly what Kyra had imagined, though in truth she didn't know what to expect. She had never been to war before, or even in an army as the humans called their rather large group. Their operations so far had been humane and without as much violence. With so many armed mercenaries and magic users, she would have thought that they would have burned the forest down by now.

So instead, she found a different sort of entertainment within the camp. She watched them, she watch the many humans and their interactions with each other. Some friendly others not so much, but all in all she found it somewhat interesting. Still, when she noticed the mousey mage slip off by himself, she couldn't resist. She had no feelings for him one way or another, yet he seemed to be close to Clyde and Samara seemed interested in him as well. That was enough to arouse her curiosity to cause the young kelvic to follow the man and see where he was going.

Once he arrived, she followed him into the camp and while standing outside the tent, listened in on the conversation he was having with another human. Once the conversation seemed to be over, or at least the talking halted. She stood up and entered the tent and proceed to the man who seemed to be in charge. "I am Kyra.. and I would like to be assigned on a task in the name of Rhysol." The words came about a bit strangely as she was attempting to remember Gallo's words exactly. After she was done speaking, she simply smiled and waited for his reply.

55 Fall 512- Assignment tent

This really was what Clyde had been waiting for... A chance to strike back at Syliras, the place of his birth... The place he had grown up... And the place he had hated and wanted to leave as soon as possible.

He wondered what his parents had been up to, what they had thought of him leaving... He did not plan on paying them a visit, especially not his father... He would probably just end up in a yelling match with him, and possibly end up fighting him. He had been angry at him, ever since he had not followed him into his profession of metalsmithing. Coincidentally, he worked at the same mines smelting ore into usable iron blocks, that they were assigned to destroy... Though he sometimes also worked as a blacksmith when they needed him to, so he might not even be working there any more...

Maybe he would see his mother, while his father was out at work... Though he was not sure if the fact that he had once lived in Syliras would be an issue... Though the Stryfe already knew that fact.

Going inside, he found one of the people giving out orders, and walked up to them.

"I am looking for an assignment, preferably one that would use my skills well."
Clydes Stuff

I am actually in RL a super intelligent hamster from Rhode Island, with a 7 year plan to take over the world.

Update 6/2/18- 1:10AM EST: His 7 year plan a success, and several weeks ahead of schedule, Clyde leaves to oversee the world he has taken over.

No new threads after end of Spring 518-Will still be checking for PM's occasionally, but focusing on a new character.

Graders note: :
Please be aware Clyde is a master Magecrafter. He therefore should not be gaining full xp(or possibly shouldn't gain any at all) for simple tasks related to this magic, such as low level MC items, particularly for repetitions of creations he has done before. Feel free to contact me if unsure of a instance of his magic use compared to his skill level.

Kyra

Sven had a constant flow of orders coming in from Samara and the other paladins stationed throughout the region, and he didn't have enough soldiers on hand to complete all the missions. Whenever someone did show up, they were never turned down. There was never a shortage of work, and when Kyra walked in it was no different.

"Well, lucky for you, I have plenty of tasks for you to do," the man replied as he shuffled through the various mission reports on the table in front of him. "Since this is your first mission, I'll give you one of the less dangerous ones."

Sven pulled a paper out of the pile and began to read off the details of the mission. "We want to spread dissent among those in the city. Dissent among the population will make our mission easier. We have false documents that I need you to plant on citizens of Syliras, implicating them as spies working for Ravok. Either plant the documents on their persons, or in their homes, or somewhere that they can be found. Once the documents have been planted, our actual spies will tip off the knights and send them after their own people."

Sven gathered the documents, various letters and other things that appeared to be correspondences between undercover agents and their handlers containing false information from locations of basecamps to troop movements throughout the Cobalt mountains. "Plant those on as many people as you can, and when you're done, report back here for your next mission. If you do well, I believe I have something more suitable to your talents that you would find much more rewarding."

Mission Details :
Okay, so you have 3 documents, all correspondence letters between "undercover agents" and their "handlers." The letters contain false information concerning the location and movement of Ebonstryfe throughout the area. Your mission is to plant at least one document on the person, or in the home of, another PC. Base reward is 75gm, bonuses if you get more than one person. Post here again when the mission is complete, though the thread itself need not be graded. I'll need a link to the thread, that way I can add the letter to the character's storyteller secrets thread.

Clyde Sullins

Not long after Kyra left, Clyde arrived. Sven recognized him right away, having recently been described what the mage looked like. Samara had given him a special mission for when Clyde arrived, but unfortunately, that mission would have to wait. Sven had many other things that needed to be done, and if Clyde wanted his special mission, he would have to earn it just like every other soldier or apprentice that walked into the tent.

"Ah, mister Sullins. I was told to expect you. I have a special task for you, but before we can do that, I need you to do something else for me, also suited especially to your talents."

Sven rummaged through his stack of missions, pulling out one of the easier ones. Along with the papers, he produced a vial of clear, viscous liquid that he slid across the table to Clyde. Following that, he also brought forth a few scrolls with rather simplistic glyphs on them.

"Invisible ink, and Chaon scrolls," the man explained as he opened up the mission details and began to explain. "We want you to go to the Temple of all Gods. This place is an affront to Rhysol. While it claims to be dedicated to all the gods, any temple dedicated to inferior deities is no place of worship for Rhysol. We want you to use the ink to create Glyphs that will activate when people pray, place them someplace where they are most likely to affect people. Use the Chaon scrolls to infuse the invisible glyphs, so that any who pray in that temple are cursed. Once you have done this, you may return for your reward, and further missions if you desire."

Mission Details :
Okay, so, you have 1 vial of invisible ink, and 3 scrolls infused with Chaon. Your job is to draw some glyphs in the Temple of all Gods and infuse them with the curses placed in those scrolls. The curse will cause whoever activates it to believe (temporarily, anyway) that the god they are praying to is actually their enemy. You need to thread with at least one other PC, though they don't necessarily have to get cursed by the glyph. Just find some way to work someone else into the thread. You'll get bonuses if you manage to curse more than one PC, of course. Base reward is 75gm.

Kyra reentered the basecamp after having completed her mission. She walked inside and found the man that she had spoken to before and motioned towards him to get his attention. "It is done....So, you spoke of other missions?" She smiled somewhat innocently as she waited to be rewarded and for her next mission..whatever that may be.

The man, Sven, remembered Kira from the last time she had visited. How could he forget such a pretty face? There were precious few women on the mission, and he could recall each and every one of them. Sven was not a lady's man, he was relatively unattractive, and was lacking in the social department. So when he was offered a chance to speak with a beautiful woman, he did not soon forget it. He even recalled Kyra's mission, and when she asked for more he was quite impressed.

"We do have other missions, if you are prepared to accept them. You may choose one of three. The first is rather simple in nature, though you may find it difficult to achieve. We want a Syliran.. any Syliran will do, though the more associated with the Knights they are the better. We want you to bring them back here, alive, so that they can be interrogated. It would also be best if they did not see how they got here."

"The second option involves destroying the Syliran's crops. We want you to burn one of their fields. This is dangerous because the knights will fight to defend their crops, of course, as will the farmers and anyone else who sees you set them ablaze."

"The third choice may seem less dangerous, though it is not, and will require a large amount of time. It may be that you are still on this mission even after we leave the area. One of our agents in the city has been discovered, and we need someone without the blood of Rhysol to take their place as a spy. You would find employment within the city, spy on the city, and deliver information back to Ravok."

"These are your choices, and you may only choose one. Others will claim the other two before you have a chance to return, so choose wisely. Each has their own reward, as well as their own dangers."

OOC :
Okay, so the first choice you have to kidnap a PC and bring them back. The second choice must also involve at least one other PC, and it's possible that I or another ST might pop in at some point for some moderation. The third choice will require you to remain in Syliras until the end of winter.

Kyra listened intently, trying her best to hold back her excitement at another mission. It came to her as a surprise when she was given a choice this time, and that as well caused her a bit of excitement. Kyra thought for a moment, taking in the different assignments and which would bring her more joy. "I think.." she paused, lightly lifting a single finger to touch her lips, her golden eyes searching the room blankly before returning to look upon him. "I'll choose the first one."

"Excellent, I'll put you down for the mission. You can begin right away, if you like."

The man made a mark in his ledger, and then offered Kyra a smile and a wave goodbye. Her mission was simple, yet complex at the same time. She had to capture a Syliran and bring them back to the basecamp alive, all without them seeing how they got there. What would happen after that, Kyra couldn't know, but that wasn't part of her mission. All she had to do was get a person there, the rest was up to the Ebonstryfe.

OOC :
First off, so sorry for taking so long to respond to this. I know it's winter now, but if you still want to do the quest you are more than welcome to. You have to somehow get a PC, a Syliran PC, to the basecamp, alive, and preferably without them knowing how they got there. You can do this in any way you like, and if you need moderation at some point feel free to ask.

If you choose to let the people know OOC that you plan to kidnap them or whatever, feel free to tell them that there will be incentive for them as well, though that will come in another thread. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
