Leila quickly opened the herbalism kit, and pulled out several items. The first was a small leather pouch, which she pulled the string to open. The air around them was immediately exposed to a very spicy, heavy scent. It was cayenne pepper powder, a dark red brown, "Okay, this might sting a little but try not to flinch too much. This will help slow the bleeding and dull the pain." She took pinches of the powder, and began to sprinkle it over all the bleeding wounds, doing her best to keep it even, and not waste any. Leila saw the woman's copious use of seaweed as garments, and that spurred an idea. She turned to Ricky, "Ricky, can you dive in here and find me a few armlengths of seaweed? Should be plenty just off the docks." Satisfied that she'd powdered most of the wounds, she sealed up the pouch. Then she reached in and grabbed a few wooden containers and an empty bowl. She opened the first container and poured some honey into the bowl. She grabbed as stirring rod, then opened the second container, which released a scent of flowers. Lavender oil, which she poured into the bowl of honey. She stirred the ingredients together, mixing evenly until it was one pleasantly pungent golden paste. She sniffed at it, then added some more lavender to the mixture, stirred, and was satisfied. The kit had no cloth or bandages that would stand up to constantly being submerged in seawater, hence the need for seaweed. She would wait to apply the paste for Ricky to return, "This paste will help to soothe the wounds, prevent infection, and promote healing." |
